It seems that playtesting for the as-yet-unnamed next game in the venerable Battlefield franchise is currently underway; EA has been rather quiet, instead, we've deduced this by the constant stream of leaked gameplay footage that started flooding our feeds over the weekend. Oddly enough, the publisher/developer doesn't appear to be trying to pull it all down, and hardcore fans seem to be loving what they've seen so far.
Massive FPS account CharlieIntel claims that some sort of NDA is in play, but others claim that earlier takedown requests by EA have since been retracted (thanks, PC Gamer). As it stands, plenty of footage is floating around, and first impressions seem quite positive. Players burned by Battlefield 2042 are cautiously optimistic that, indeed, we might actually be back.
What do you think, are you intrigued by the direction of the next Battlefield? Do you think EA is pleased with the apparent positive reception, and is thus happy to allow the leaks to stay live? Prepare yourself for next generation Battlefield in the comments section below.

There getting positive feedback seems like a good reason to keep the leaks up
Battlefield 1 is my favourite
It looks like fun. I played the fire out of BF3 and 4.. I do wish they could make a mission based extraction mode.. what Call of Duty did with DMZ and what Delta Force is doing now.
@T-Bone09
BF 2042 had an extraction mode called Hazard Zone that had a small but devoted following.
Bad company 2 is the best in the franchise..no question about it. It had the best maps and the best destruction model in any of them. Bf3 was good but had some awful tunnel of death maps and the destruction was turned almost off. Bf4 was much better. Quite enjoyed bf1 (those zeppelins were awesome) but bf5 was a stinker. I'm hoping this is a return to the bc2 days but I'm keeping an eye on delta force too as that's f2p and looks pretty damn cool.
Cheating has ruined the game, they don't do anywhere near enough to tackle it, they allowed BF1 arguably one of the most beautiful BF games ever to die out due to insane Chester issues
They won't be getting a penny from me ever again
PLEAAAAASE dont ***** this up ea. Cod is TRASH and has been for years. Bf games used to be quality fps. Bf started terrible but got better way too late. Now call this game
Battlefield6 abd release it in september with enough weapons and were good
@Cry_Zero This new iteration is coming out in 2026, I think.
@EYEBALL didnt they say this fiscal year, meaning the one ending in march 2026?
I dont see them releasing a shooter in spring and i hooe youre wrong😀 cant wait to play a proper battlefield again
I don't wanna be that guy BUT this be looking like the battlefield I fell in love with so many years ago I'm a lil hype
I posted this same comment on Reddit...recently we had a "beers & Battlefield" night amongst a bunch of us at the office; it was fun! I have always loved the series and the latest version (2042 I believe) seems to have many of the bugs worked out...so much so that I am casually playing regularly again.
I look forward to this release and hope it works out!
Yep this looks like the BF we know and love. Slower pace, smaller maps and fantastic sound design!
@Cry_Zero I'm not sure dude, I just heard about it from somewhere but I am itching for a new battlefield game as well that's for sure.
I really want to believe in BF again, but its hard! Just please tell me someone new is working on level design, because 2042 maps were so boring to play on.
@Perturbator By chance did you only play the original launch versions of BF 2042's maps? Because through updates DICE eventually reworked all of the original launch maps (locationally rearranged most to all of the elements on them) improving their playability.
@MaelysLeFleau No I played them long after launch (like a little over a year ago), but still found them very uninspired. Especially the desert map Hourglass which is probably be the worst BF map I've ever played.
The leaked environments of next BF look promising so far though. It always takes a few hours of playing to get a proper opinion of maps so we'll see.
Hopefully they can go back to Bad company 2, BF3 and 4 days and get this one right.
@breakneck idk, the speed and kill times looks identical to bf4. Compare it to 2042 and it moves at a snails pace.
Only watched a few mins of gameplay and was saying to a pal it reminded me of the Medal of Honor reboot multiplayer which I actually enjoyed. But also the map gave me BF3 vibes
Looks pretty good considering the early state! So far so good - fingers crossed.
But man…the placeholders of the cringe 2042 voice lines really show just how awful that was!!
@Northern_munkey Amen it was the most fun I've ever had for A MP game god I out some hours onto that on PS3 I really did. Wish it never died that's the problem though BF3 came out and BC2 just died
Smaller & denser maps are good to see. BF2042 went overboard with map size to the point time between fights dragged. If you can enter most of those destructible buildings, the added verticality to fights is going to feel great.
@Nakatomi_Uk indeed. Bad company 2 was just perfect. It was the online shooter that I spent the most time on but then they screwed the pooch with bf3. I never got on with bf3 and I really tried to like it but it sucked big time.
Fingers crossed! You’d be forgiven for thinking it was BF3/4 footage.
