Update []: Everybody’s Golf: Hot Shots, developed under license from Sony by Bandai Namco, will be releasing on PS5.
While the title was revealed for Nintendo Switch during the latest Nintendo Direct, a new trailer confirms the title will also release on Sony’s system – which is a relief!
The game seems to be based on PS Vita entry Everybody’s Golf: World Invitational, but there are some clear differences, like new chibi-style character models which we’re not massively fond of. It’s perhaps worth noting that original creator Clap-Hanz does not appear to be involved.

The release is due out later in 2025.
Original Story: Everybody’s Golf is getting its first new release in years, with the classic Clap-Hanz franchise coming to… Well, Nintendo Switch.
The franchise, owned by Sony, is being licensed out to Bandai Namco, as part of a new trend which also saw Freedom Wars release on Nintendo’s console earlier this year. Patapon is also coming to the Switch, again via a licensing agreement.
While we’re starved of details right now, Everybody’s Golf: Hot Shots – which is what the Switch game is named – looks like a port of Everybody’s Golf: World Invitational to us, which launched on the PS Vita over 10 years ago.
There’s no word just yet on whether this is coming to the PS5, but we’ll check with Bandai Namco and update when we know more.

This basically confirms we’re never getting a dedicated Sony handheld ever again. Much more profitable to just make games for Switch instead.
It's confirmed for PS5 and PC, the same with Patapon, come on guys the clickbait isn't needed if you can wait 5 minutes.
Patapon and Everybody can golf so officially Sony has a partnership with Bandai to push Japan Studios IPs.
For all the people who constantly talk about of lack of effort to push old IPs .... Are you not entertained?
Really cool to see a new Everybody's Golf, regardless of it being on the Switch.
Edit: Oh yeah, I just checked Steam and it's up for pre-order over there. Well I'm glad!
@Jireland92 Tbf, they didnt make it, they just licensed the IP out to Bandai Namco.
Btw, wasn’t it leaked that they are in fact working on a dedicated handheld?
@Jireland92 quite the conclusion when these days portable consoles are about giving to option to play your fav games everywhere and not about dedicated experiences lol.
Apparently Bandai Namco sees more potential in reviving some older Sony IP’s than Sony does, which i’m all for
Seeing Patapon and Everybody's Golf on Nintendo Switch was not something that I expected, but I'm happy to see it.
Still got 2 dlc courses for the ps4 everybody's golf on the wishlist that have never gone on sale 😀
Ah finally! A great casual golf game again! Now I can stop bugging my friend to get 2K and failing because he thinks it's too difficult.😄
Welcome back Everybody's Golf!
Hate the new art style. They didn't need to change that.
@GymratAmarillo but then why would Sony not capitalise on that. You’d think after seeing the success Nintendo hadwith the Switch they would try something similar. I know they had that weird portal thing, but that felt like a half measure.
Definitely supporting these on Switch. Great that these can get releases there too.
@Jireland92 a half measure that is actually being successful and shows that people like options.
Personally I think the best answer to why they haven't yet is because they didn't know how people were going to react to a portable device other than the Switch, now they know thanks to Valve, Lenovo, MSI, and the Portal.
This is the next best thing if PlayStation is never going to touch these in-house again.
I'd just love to see another Everybody's Golf VR, especially with multiplayer.
Probably won't happen, but a nerd can dream.
Great, I enjoy golf games and the Everybody's golf series has always been a great play, especially if you have a few friends round.
Personally I think the new art style is not miles away from the previous style and the chibi characters suit the franchise perfectly imo.
Definitely one I'll pick up unless they completely miss the mark, which I doubt.
Gravity Rush on Switch/Switch 2 is more plausible now
C'mon Sony, do it
Glad to see Sony letting their franchises live again
Pretty excited to see this. I love these games.
@GymratAmarillo but then why bother with the Switch at all? Wouldn’t it make more sense to go all in on their own handheld thing. Then again these were probably greenlit before the portal came out so I’m probably overthinking this. Still it is weird Sony would do this when the could use more diversity in their exclusives, or just having more exclusives in general.
Glad to see one of the iconic franchises coming back.
Still miffed that they killed off the majority of the PS4 edition when they shut down the server but I suppose if it didn't have a lot of players, then the server gets shut down.
Be interesting to see who will be hosting the online servers this time - hopefully NOT Sony.
Might go for the Switch version anyway - bought Easy Come Easy Golf (Clap Hanz) a little while ago but it didn't hold a candle to Everybody's Golf on the PS4, PS Vita or even the PSP versions.
These Bandai Namco published Japan Studio revivals are awesome. I haven't played Freedom Wars yet but it's in the neverending backlog.
Interesting that Patapon might have multiple skus on the PS Store. I wonder whether or not Sony will delist the PS4 remasters.
I'm curious, is everybody's golf and patapon still Sony IPs? Or are they now third party titles owned by Bandai? Sorry, I'm kind anew to this lol
What timeline are we in that we get two Sony titles as key headliners in a Nintendo Showcase
The goat has returned!
THE best golf game series.
I don't care who makes them just keeping making more of them.
I love an Everybody's Golf but we gotta do something about those hideous characters.
@SoulsBourne128
Sony is still the Owner of the Patapon and Everbody's Golf IP, they've basically sold the right to make games based on those IPs to Bandai Namco.
Sony remains the Owner (Licensor) while Bandai Namco (Licensee) will give Sony a cut of the revenue that they earn with the two games they're developing.
Well this is the best news!
I’ll buy it day one but good god the character design is awful. I hope Sony has panic contacted clap handz to start working on a real follow-up after there live services failings as well.
@Perturbator Yes, a PSVR2 version would be sweet ... and unfortunately very unlikely. But who knows may be the wind is turning.
@N1ghtW1ng Oh nice. Honestly kinda wild how Sony never thought of doing this from the beginning. Here's hoping othrr titles like Puppeteer and Souls Sacrifice will follow suit too.
@GymratAmarillo I really didn't see any point in Sony releasing another handheld. They barely have the capacity to make enough games for PS5 let alone another system.
Their support for VR2 is nonexistent and they failed the Vita. If a new Sony handheld has to rely on third party software then people will just go for the Switch 2.
@SMJ maybe because the age of specialized games for portable devices is over? LOL.
The point of devices these days is to play all your catalogue there, not to play Uncharted 3 in your ps3 and Golden Abyss in your VITA.
This kind of makes more sense but is a bit odd. I don't know how different the games are. Also the RE7 thing of both names in the title, fair. It works here.
Not big on the artstyle either. They kind of look odd, sometimes chibi, sometimes too pudgy, sometimes a bit off, or sometimes too designed for even older hardware in mind. The aspects on the face maybe? I don't know. I prefer the original style more.
I think this style needs a bit more refinement to stand out as it's own, this one looks like an odd blend of the old and the new artists and it looks really off.
They should have done more of their own thing with the artstyle I think, I'd have been fine with that. The environments look fine the characters just look weird.
I only own the first PSP entry (even then got it because of collecting old games, never of it just never got into the series really) so I assume like the 3rd or 4th game in the series? But they are good games.
To me this gives more interesting ideas, kind of like Virtua Tennis (only played World Tour on the PSP and rebought it just for the fruit/other modes, that's it) to me the side modes were more fun. So to have more fun wacky modes I'm all for random silliness games can offer to make an arcadey experience in any sports games. Arcadey sports games or modes are always fun to see.
It's why I was happy to see Cosmic Smash get revived for PSVR2/PS5.
But the PS4 entry is on there. So to have a Vita entry is fine or BASED ON so a sequel even more so great to see. Not just the PS4 one in 4K/trophy list only for PS5 version even if could repeat trophies still......
I'm all for licensing to Switch, an audience that hasn't played them, so that's fair to see.
I'm fine with them doing something with the IPs but at least this makes more sense then Patapon 1 & 2 on PS5 for just a rebundling/news mentioning a shiny new product to be in the eshops and 4K + a trophy list not related to PS4 remaster I assume in activating them.
So the PS3 digital, but PS Vita entry is fair to offer but what makes it that different from the PS4 entry of content?
Either way, fair.
Though other series would have been nice to offer really. I mean, many Vita or PS3 games could be offered yet aren't.
Don't hate the art style, don't love it, it reminds me of something I can't put my finger on but as long as the gameplay is on point, I'm sure it'll grow on me more. Always was the most fun golf game!
Just glad to see it make a return 🥳
Puppeteer next, please Bandai!
interesting. but is this simply a remaster of world invitational? if so, i'm good since i already have it haha. was hoping this was a new entry.
@Porco Which would make it a remaster of a remaster as the vita game was later ported to PS3 (in Japan both games are Minna no Golf 6)
Is it just me or After World Tour on the PS3, every Everybody's Golf game just looks worse and worse?
@sanderson72 The PS4 game was horrible i sold it off quite fast. My favorite was the PS3 Everybody Golf.
@Ribbitsneed That game was fantastic.
Let's hope Bandai Namco continue these old IP restarts. I'd buy ModNation Racers and the MotorStorm trilogy if they got the go ahead.
@Lowdefal yup, you are correct there. i have the vita and ps3 versions in fact (aka everybody's golf 6)
