Cairn is a survival climbing adventure game that somehow manages to be stress-inducing in even short gameplay clips. We look forward to tackling our perfectly rational fear of falling from great heights when this one climbs PS5 sometime in 2025.
Cairn's gameplay loop will see prospective climbers planning their route, with the ability to climb on any surface, with each section described as being like its own "boss fight". Of course, variable difficulty settings will allow players to tailor the experience, but players will still need to ration resources like food, water, medicine, pitons, chalk, and finger tape.

Bivouac points will allow brief moments of respite and narrative development, and considering Cairn is from the makers of games like Furi and Haven, we imagine it will be an affecting experience. Add to that sound design from the mind that made Limbo and Inside so tense, and we can't wait to run up this particular hill when it arrives.
What do you think of Cairn? Do you have what it takes to scale this particular mountain? Let us know in the comments section below.

This looks really cool, definitely going to keep my eye on this.
There's just something very relaxing about climbing games. Like when playing Jusant, you just get this very chilled feeling of peaceful isolation while taking in the scenery and looking down at how far you've come. I welcome the difficulty of Cairn, but I hope it has similar vibes 😌
Looks great, I'll follow this one closely!
Looks kinda cool, and unique. Jusant probably the most similar thing, but also very different vibe. Thanks for putting it on the radar.
Was hoping to see a release date. I played the demo on PC and it definitely helped to put the game on my wishlist. Few people have already mentoned Jusant and while I liked that game as well, I already died several times in the demo, so it is more demanding (you can adjust certain things), but also very cool.
@Balie3000 Jusant is such an underrated gem. I never hear anyone talk about it.
I’d love a dramatic climbing game like this on PS5. Climbing parts of Horizon were the best!
Hard not to see a smidgen of possible Death Stranding inspiration in there. Obviously this is a very different game, but the ‘hiking sim’ mechanics seem reminiscent.
This actually looks awesome. We'll put together trailer as well. As a climber, 100% getting this. I ended up passing on Jusant. Maybe I should rethink this as well.
I feel guilty not being excited but I need a sequel to Haven. It was so good.
Also Jusant was and is amazing and I don’t know if I want any more climbing games other than those made by Don’t Nod. Total stunner on PS5.
I'm on board for this.
Played a next fest demo for this... easy day oner!
Looks great. I'm fascinated by climbing games and movies despite being a giant wuss when it comes to heights myself.
It looks very good, but I imagine it'll get tiresome after a while. Not all repetition is equal.
Always interested in any game that has a unique art style. We'll keep this in mind for sure.
Looks great, I am playing Jusant now so when it drops I will give it a play.
