The original PlayStation has arguably the best boot up sequence of any console — it comfortably won our poll on the subject — and it seems you'll soon be able to play it whenever you want at the touch of a button.
Bandai has announced a new miniature stand featuring the PlayStation logo in its iconic original colours, and the base contains a speaker that can play that dreamy, nostalgic synth blast.
If you're some sort of maniac and don't want the stand to be able to do this, it also comes packed with a regular, silent stand for killjoys and, what, librarians, maybe?
Anyway, the catch is that it seems to only be available in Japan, so if you want it, you'll probably have to import one.
You can pre-order it from now until 20th April, and it's scheduled to ship out in July 2025.
Will you be nabbing one of these for your desk? Tell us in the comments section below.

Don’t put anything that plays a sound anywhere near kids or you’ll be hearing that all day.
I want one, it will be cool if it can be used for keychain 😃
Genuinely really cool and I want one
It looks more like the plastic logo on the PS2 that you could swivel, the PS1 logo was just a sticker (I’ve just checked ;D).
I want one 😭
I don't know written Japanese much so I don't understand what's happening in the website but maybe it will be available at a later date at Amazon or something
What really impressed me with the PS1at the time, is the how the 'no disc' start-up sound seamlessly transitioned into the full sequence when a game disc is detected. I still find it pretty amazing how the whole sequence is just 3 samples played and mixed at different speeds.
I don't know what the point of this is or what it is even for and yet I still want one
That would make a great alarm clock.
This will look great with my light-up button icons
Milk that nostalgia!!!! Milkkkkkkitttttttt!
I've got a small lamp which makes the PS1 startup sound when switched on. Currenlty resides under my PS5 in my TV stand, next to two other PS themed lamps. #notafanboy
That would look amazing in my imaginary gaming room 🔥
Nah, merchandise and branding stinks.
A stand for what???
That’s pretty cool! Just wondering why Bandai made this though? Do they usually make merchandise like this for other companies?
@nessisonett it’s kind of the opposite in my house. I will be playing this so much my kids will be telling me to stop.
@DrVenture69 The original ps3 also had the plastic logo you could swivel.
@nessisonett thanks for advice mate. I’ll be sure to not do it once I cross that bridge haha.
