Update []: Just a few weeks after its release date announcement, Two Strikes has been pushed back into May.

The highly stylised (and rather promising) fighter was initially meant to launch on the 25th April — today at the time of writing this article! — but a last-minute swerve has seen it delayed by close to a full month, until the 23rd May.

No clear reason has been given for the delay, but we assume developer Retro Reactor Games will just be taking some extra time to polish the experience — especially since the title's currently in early access on Steam.

Original Story: Sometimes, a game's core concept alone is enough to sell it — and that's exactly what Two Strikes is going for.

You may recall a title called One Strike, which released back in 2017 on PC, and 2018 on Nintendo Switch. As its name suggests, the pixel art fighter was based around the idea of one hit, one kill — and Two Strikes is its successor. Can you guess how many hits it takes to kill your opponent this time around?

This sequel from Spanish developer Retro Reactor Games looks like a real step up. It's got a lovely-looking hand-drawn art style, complete with a bold use of colour — and the gameplay seems to be as satisfyingly tense as you'd imagine.

Two Strikes is coming to PS5 and PS4 later this month, on the 25th April, priced at $19.99 — but are you up for the challenge? Try to survive at least two strikes in the comments section below.
