Update []: Just a few weeks after its release date announcement, Two Strikes has been pushed back into May.
The highly stylised (and rather promising) fighter was initially meant to launch on the 25th April — today at the time of writing this article! — but a last-minute swerve has seen it delayed by close to a full month, until the 23rd May.
No clear reason has been given for the delay, but we assume developer Retro Reactor Games will just be taking some extra time to polish the experience — especially since the title's currently in early access on Steam.

Original Story: Sometimes, a game's core concept alone is enough to sell it — and that's exactly what Two Strikes is going for.
You may recall a title called One Strike, which released back in 2017 on PC, and 2018 on Nintendo Switch. As its name suggests, the pixel art fighter was based around the idea of one hit, one kill — and Two Strikes is its successor. Can you guess how many hits it takes to kill your opponent this time around?
This sequel from Spanish developer Retro Reactor Games looks like a real step up. It's got a lovely-looking hand-drawn art style, complete with a bold use of colour — and the gameplay seems to be as satisfyingly tense as you'd imagine.
Two Strikes is coming to PS5 and PS4 later this month, on the 25th April, priced at $19.99 — but are you up for the challenge? Try to survive at least two strikes in the comments section below.

Pity there's no farmyard animals it could've been called "Two shakes of a lamb's tail"
Reminds of Bushido Blade back on the PS1, one hit kills as well if you got the strike right. Made for some tense battles.
@Jrs1 I take it you're not sober.
@MaelysSedisia I am, its a regional saying 😀 i'll just keep taking my tablets 😉
One Strike is a wonderful little gem, so I’ll be keeping an eye on this one
I’m going to wait for 100 strikes so I actually have a chance here
@FinneasGH Black Lotus with the rapier, all day long!
I think I preferred the pixel art of the first one, but I’ll check this out. I still fire up One Strike with friends sometimes, it makes a great party game because it’s so stripped down.
This has Justin Wong’s name ALL OVER IT.
just play ghostrunner
These last minute delays sure are strange, same with FragPunk. But still better than releasing something buggy, of course.
@Skarasny Just play a completely different game in a completely different genre? Really?
My kids and I played a surprising amount of One Strike on Switch. So much that I was kind of awestruck. This might be one to get. (it looks like a HUGE upgrade from the original)
Talk about a franchise foundation formula.😄 Will we see the fandom rant about Thirteen Strikes and clamouring for a Seven Strikes remake years later?
@Jrs1 so basically Them's Fightin' Herds?
@bleeflooflah well, duh, it promises twice the amount of combat!
On a serious note, it found a fair share of playtime with me as well. A deceptively simple but engaging work.
@nhSnork Ahh forgot about that, meant to be not bad as well 😀
I'm 99% sure this game is already on Google play and switch
