Thanks to the PS5 console bundle, Sony's adorable platformer Astro Bot remains very high in the UK's physical games chart. It's in second place, and has been in the top three for many weeks in a row.
Tekken 8 has returned to the top 10, coming back from the dead straight to number three.
In fact, several games have made a resurgence, likely to have been boosted by discounts. Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition, Elden Ring, and Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition are all back in the top 10.
Elsewhere, Monster Hunter Wilds is down to number four, and Assassin's Creed Shadows has slipped to fifth.
Notable by its absence is Nintendo, which usually dominates the UK's physical games market. It seems to be a combo of cheap multiplatform software, as mentioned, and the Switch 2 announcement; perhaps customers are now holding off for the upcoming console.
Anyway, here's the latest top 10 in full (physical only).
UK Sales Charts: Week Ending 12th April, 2025

- Tekken 8
- Monster Hunter Wilds
- Assassin's Creed Shadows

- Minecraft (Switch)
- Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition

Dat Astro Bot tail tho!
Shame the most recent patch has ruined the game.....
Also Common Astro Bot W.
What's most significant is what the article doesn't even mention - Hogwarts is smashing ACS. Didn't have that on my bingo card.
Hogwarts has been such a beast too.
But the Tekken subreddit and content creators told me the update killed the game? 😂😂😂
@Silenos I did because its smashing everything. Its pretty much the Mario Kart/GTA V of this generation.
@get2sammyb yeah Hogwarts-tail is Nintendo-like to be fair.
Glad to see Astro bot charting, game is so great.
Must be all the new Anna players in tekken 😂
Really weird to see Tekken 8 in the top 10 considering what's going on with season 2 update where plenty of Tekken players dislike, hate, and even stop playing the game.
Isn’t Hogwarts coming onto Plus tomorrow? I assume we’ll see it drop down the charts a bit because of that.
@PuppetMaster big sale in UK over the weekend, basically selling physically for £20 (as is the case with a lot of the top 10 this week, just cheap sales).
@DennisReynolds Or what the fighting game community calls Monday
@DennisReynolds It's simple, if you only wanna mash buttons the game is fine, great even. If you care about it from a competition standpoint, let's just say the game is in a really bad place.
@DarkTron Ah i see.
@DennisReynolds For casual players who only wants to push buttons, the update not gonna affect them. But for competitive players, S2 update is really bad.
@vinsanity09 I dunno i've just learnt to adapt when changes happen. Been loving Anna and i'm pretty good with her because of learning not smashing buttons.
Honestly i just fighting game players to be lazy and stuck in their ways refusing to learn or adapt, its why every new entry in fighting games are hated but the previous entry is loved. I also wonder how many players would notice the changes if the Dev kept quiet on what was changed.
@DennisReynolds Unfortunately, this update is not the case where players should be patience and learn to adapt.
I've watched 1+ hour video of PhiDX and pro players carefully & objectively dissecting the update and man it is just really bad. It has like 95% cons and 5% pros. They even changed positive stuff from season 1 and make it bad. No wonder a lot of Tekken fans especially the competitive ones are on fire.
It goes to show that MK 11 really is just better than MK1 😉
@J2theEzzo also, much cheaper?
The Witcher 3 🐐
WHAT??? No GTA V??? What the hell is going on?
@naruball On disc, for sure, but I think even MK1 is regularly on sale (digital) with all the dlc etc. The ultimate edition tends to go for about the same 20 quid I grabbed MK 11 for.
@DennisReynolds In general I would somewhat agree with you, but not in this case. Tekken is a legacy game, your skills are supposed to transfer from game to game. Now those skills don't matter, it's maul or get mauled, consistently being put in 50/50 situations and guessing for your life.
Like I said, if you don't care about frame data and you're just playing to have time it's all good. But people who have invested thousands and thousands of hours on Tekken have the right to be pissed.
But I will say that they are a lot of ***** on Twitter and Reddit, sadly they have a bigger voice than people who have legitimate concerns and want to offer constructive criticism to the devs.
@J2theEzzo oh. Wow. I had no idea. Well, that's terrible for MK1 then.
Happy to see Astro Bot seemingly having a long tail. Hoping it at least reaches 4 - 5 million lifetime sales. Also, great to see AC Shadows performing well, both in the U.S. and UK, despite all the disgusting toxicity thrown at it.
