Hitman developer IO Interactive has announced that its James Bond game, 007 First Light, has now gone gold ahead of the 27th May 2026 release date.
In the games industry, something having "gone gold" means the studio has completed all the work needed for the 1.0 version of the game, and now that can be printed to physical discs. Between now and the launch in two weeks, the team will most likely turn its attention to a day one update to fix any outstanding issues.
Much like its work on the previous Hitman games, though, the launch of 007 First Light is expected to only be the start of the game's lifespan. Post-launch content and support is coming to keep you occupied beyond what is tipped to be a 20-hour campaign.
On our end, we plan to have a full 007 First Light PS5 review ready before release. Have you been convinced by 007 First Light to put in a pre-order, or are you not sure yet? Let us know in the comments below.

Congrats to the team! Can't wait to jump in.
Still not sure yet - waiting for reviews (Critic & Technical Analysis). Hoping it isn't just a Hitman clone to be honest, as Bond was far more than this.
I hope it's very good. We could do with a decent 007 game - it has been far too long, and I like the going back to origin idea.
Might have to pick this one up on payday!
In IOI we trust
„Going gold“ is so meaningless these days!
Does it mean that now they start printing the discs? Obviously not.
Does it mean that there will be no significant patches day-one? Porbably not.
So what does it mean?
The 14 year wait is nearly over.
@Max_the_German Read the article brother...
Out on my birthday what a lovely gift 🥳🥳
@Oram77 I‘ve read it, and I thought the leaks were caused by PS5 disks, which was wrong.
I‘m still surprised that it only takes 14 days between the start of creating the masters for printing the disks and the worldwide retail release!
Im not going to get this right away definitely a Christmas time type game I to me any bugs will be ironed out by then aswell.
Hopefully it's good it looks really good and more the vibe of the older bond films not the gritty bore fest of Daniel Craigs films I like the cheesy films!
One of the rare day 1’s I will buy this year.
Woohoo, ready to earn the number!
One of the games this year I’m looking forward to; I hope it turns out good. If everything goes well, it will be day one purchase for me.
I'm so ready for this.
As a podcaster I like put it perfectly (paraphrasing): even if it doesn't quite have Naughty Dog levels of polish in the set-pieces, if it's 80% there it will be plenty good enough, because we just don't get many of these sorts of games nowadays.
As an OG Hitman lover on both PS2 and Xbox as well as a 007 (game only) fan from the N64 era.. I hope it’s not like the newer hitman games.. too many options isn’t always a good thing.. my OCD ass got overwhelmed with all the different ways to kill people.. skill issue I know.. but I just couldn’t keep up with it.. but this one looks like a fun mashup and definitely a week one buy if reviews and such hold up
🤞
I'm kinda excited for this. If the Uncharted type gameplay is true I might have to get this sooner than planned
25% Hitman and 75% Uncharted, sounds great to me! Can't wait to pick this up at the end of the month!
N i.c.e. 007 first light will be a fan favorite. Word up son
The Man with the Golden game?
All pre-ordered and ready to go!! Looking forward to getting the tux on and ordering up some Vodka Martini's.
I was hoping for a more Nightfire vibe than Hitman, but what we've seen so far looks more like the latter.
@Max_the_German it means the 1.0 version of the game is playable front to back and they can start printing the game on physical discs.
Oh, for the review, please put the tagline "licence to shill?". lol
