Fable PS5 Delayed to February 2027, Moved Away from GTA 6 for the 'Dedicated Moment It Deserves' 1

Fable, the highly anticipated Xbox RPG confirmed for PS5, will not release in 2026 as previously planned.

In a statement, publisher Microsoft said it’s moving the Playground developed release to February 2027, where it “can have the dedicated moment it deserves”.

A “major new look” at the game will air next week, during the Xbox Showcase on 7th June, so PlayStation fans will want to tune in.

There had been rumours that the new Fable game could get delayed due to GTA 6, and judging by the wording of Microsoft’s statement, that does appear to be the case.

Rockstar’s open world is set to arrive on 19th November, and it’s likely Playground was targeting a similar window. Considering just how big the crime opus is poised to be, postponing the RPG for around three months makes sense.

Fable will launch day-and-date on PS5 in February 2027, marking the franchise’s debut on a Sony system.

While there has been confusion about Microsoft's approach to exclusives, the UK-based dev recently reiterated that it’s committed to bringing this game to PS5 alongside all other platforms.
