Frontier has just announced Planet Zoo 2, the straightforwardly-named sequel to its popular zoo-keeping management sim.
While there's not any raw gameplay, the in-engine announcement trailer at least sets the tone for this feel-good game:
The headline new additions in Planet Zoo 2 are aviaries and aquariums, introducing lots of new flying and aquatic animals to the menagerie.

On top of that, the game won't restrict you to just a zoo; you'll also be able to build wildlife reserves, allowing animals to roam freely in their natural environments.
Anyone who's played a tycoon game or Frontier's other management sim Planet Coaster will know what to expect. You build up your zoo, gradually adding more animals, enclosures, and attractions as you make more money.
We liked the original Planet Zoo when it came to PS5, but hopefully the sequel makes plenty of improvements and additions.
It's due out on 13th October 2026, so there's only a few months to wait.

Oh yeh! Instant pre-order, hehe
I really enjoyed Planet Zoo, mostly for career mode as I enjoy the management side of things but suck at the creativity side of designing landscapes and large enclosures. It's one of the reasons that I bounced off Planet Coaster 2 as I struggled with designing rides.
"Flying birds!?!?" What's next, swimming fish!?
That's great! I really want to simulate a wildlife reserves giant zoo! Completely day one!
@Thrillho I’m the opposite. I can build a great park with great coasters and landscaping etc but suck at the management side l
Fair, never got into Zoo Tycoon or others that much. Also after the garbage that was Xbox One/360's Zoo Tycoon didn't help either.
That aside Frontier do a good job with these games but I've just never been interested to try them as I don't really care for the genre that much and I don't like a lot of modern feel stuff games do nowadays so never really cared to pick them up.
Even Two Point Campus, I was not interested, I tried it a bit then bounced off because I think it's ideas/progression were not that great. Two Point Hospital maybe but even for how old Roller Coaster Tycoon and Theme Hospital are, I prefer how they did things even besides their limitations.
Let's School was a fine game but even then. I didn't get into it that much or care.
@GamingGod I can easily have a vision in my head but find it really difficult to implement. Some amazing designs on the subreddits for these games though (I imagine mostly on PC though..)
@Thrillho yeah I get ya. I tend to build a few coasters and then build the park around them. I don’t know if you still play planet coaster but if you do check out a park called Alton flowers. I made it a few years ago on PS5. Insanely detailed
I got into the first one big time, having not expected to.
The depth of the design tools is actually mind blowing once you watch a few YouTube videos and start playing around.
The big concern is over the limitations the game will face running on Ps5. It’s designed for PC gaming and the first one put major restrictions on the scale of what you could do to allow it to run on console.
