Sony has today revealed its next State of Play livestream will take place on 2nd June 2026. It's going to be over an hour long, and Marvel's Wolverine will be there alongside "updates, announcements, and gameplay reveals from top studios around the world".
As for Marvel's Wolverine, Sony says Insomniac will have "more from its upcoming third-person action-adventure game showing off Logan’s brutal and relentless combat along with some new details". It's due out on 15th September for PS5.
The State of Play takes place on Tuesday, 2nd June 2026 at the following times worldwide:
- North America: 2pm PDT / 3pm MDT / 4pm CDT / 5pm EDT
- UK/Ire: 10pm BST
- Europe: 11pm CEST / 12am (Wed) EEST
- Asia/Oceania: 6am (Wed) JST / 5am (Wed) AWST / 7am (Wed) AEST
Sony will have the showcase broadcast live in English, with Japanese subtitles available, across all the usual video platforms. You'll also be able to watch it live here on Push Square with our community chat.
As for what might be part of the livestream besides Marvel's Wolverine, obvious candidates from PlayStation Studios are Intergalactic, Marvel Tokon, and the live service games such as Fairgames and Horizon Hunters Gathering. That's in terms of publicly confirmed projects, but there's also the rumoured ones, such as the God of War title featuring Faye.
Third parties will also be part of the showcase, which opens the floodgates to so many other possibilities.
What's also interesting is Sony plans to broadcast the State of Play at select Alamo Drafthouse movie theatres. It's hosting "special live watch party viewings" of the livestream, and tickets are free. You can learn more about it through the link. The showcase will be broadcast in the following places:
- Raleigh
- Los Angeles
- San Fransisco Bay Area
- Chicago
- Dallas / Fort Worth
- New York City

Let's goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
let's goooooooooooo
@get2sammyb bub
Please announce something by FromSoftware (Come on Bloodborne remaster!*)
*I'm still taking copium
Interesting that they've announced this State of Play over a week before its premiere. Hopefully that's because it has a stellar showcase that Sony can't wait to show off.
Having said that, the 2023 PlayStation showcase was also announced over a week beforehand..........
Seems strange to be announced for nearly 2 weeks away hopefully its good
Wow, they very rarely announce these this far in advance. It must be a chonker.
I think we're getting close to an Elden Ring 2 reveal (or whatever's next)
bring it ooooooooooon
I'm quietly confident that this will be a great showcase. Maybe not quite a banger, but tbf most of the big games that have been announced are now out, so there should be plenty to reveal.
That being said, I'm keeping my expectations in check so I won't expect the world, and we'll just see what happens
If its anything like the last one it should be pretty great.
I really hope we see something from Asobi!
I have low expectations for this showcase as I haven't enjoyed the last few, but the extended look at Wolverine will ensure there is something I like!
@Broosh that would be great astro bot is one of favorite ever games
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis and whatever Sonic's got cooking for his 35th Anniversary, please and thank you!
Im excited to see what Wolverine is all about as I still don’t feel like I have a real sense of what it is. I’d also love to see release dates for Control Resonant and The Eternal Life of Goldman.
If its anything like the last state of play then this is going to be a banger, can't wait.
Just announced some price hikes and had the hacking issues. Gotta get some hype back out there
I am keeping my expectations in check a bit as with most of these not just Sony in general too easy to overhype and then pick it apart when things don't happen. But hopefully it will be a good one!
Would love to see FFVII part 3 make an appearance here given how far in development it is meant to be. Just can't help but think with SE's new multiplat focus being so public chances Sony have marketing rights on this one will be quite slim sadly.
Got a feeling this might be strong one. Hopefully the some of the contents can stay secret until the show.
A RE Code Veronica reveal would be cool to see.
@Werehog I'm fairly sure TR has been confirmed for Summer Gamefest but I suppose nothing prevents it being at both. We should see more soon either way. I'm excited for that one too.
@RagnarLothbrok the one person who got their account hacked accounts get hacked every day no one reports it lol
You sure Playstation management won't start charging us to watch State of Plays next?! 🙄😂 After seeing 12 month PS Essential has gone up Down Under (if lapsed),despite reporting here saying it was only one & three month subscriptions affected, nothing would surprise anymore with current management!
Hope to be surprised, but things under Hermen Hulst's reign have only been a surprise when something good emerges amongst a glut of mediocrity.
Over an hour! Wolverine Deep Dive! Now we're talking! Oh and Arsenal win the Premier League! Today's a good day!
Looking forward to the moaning!
If they can offer the same like February SoP then it would be great.
For my bday, thanks so much
Am i wrong or they only have live broadcasts in theatres when there is a new hardware announcement?
For the love of god, show Intergalactic gameplay.
I'm so tired, boss...
Very early announcement. Wonder why.
Little devil inside???
can see it now final fantasy part 3 trailer will be shown at this showcase.
very unusual to announce a state of play this far in advance it usually is the next day..
I'll be getting off a train about 30 minutes earlier so hopefully I can still watch
@AndyKazama I with you on the BB copium
Need to be careful from now to 2nd June then, Push Square just love to post "news" about leaks and so on days before each major gaming event...
@Broosh I would take 60 minute SoP on just a new Astro Bot game.
Other than that, I'm desperate for some new Media Molecule game.
The last few of these have been trending in the right direction, so let's hope they keep it going. I think it'll be a good one.
@Voltan Rush home!!!
@ThroughTheIris56 Tbh, I would be even more excited if they made something that wasn't Astro Bot! Those games are insanely good, I want to see what else they're capable of.
Definitely tempering expectations. Seeing more Wolverine might be good. Just hope they dont give too much away too!
New announcements always welcome
@Broosh so do I - and by that I mean astrobot 2!
Fondling my corduroy slacks in anticipation of this game. Should be quite good.
@ShadowRJ It's crazy. A weirdly early announcement and they are going to be showing it in their Alamo Drafthouse Theatres in the US.
Announced earlier to take the heat away from the major security risk to all our accounts?
Same way they did the throwaway Wolverine trailer with release date to distract from Bluepoint.
GTA VI trailer 3 at the end of this show?
@cainhurst94 That seems to be indicating that they think they have a massive hit of a presentation on their hands, but considering 2023 was similar, I'm still going into this one cautious.
Marvel michigan wolverines 💛 💙 is going to be amazing. The gameplay trailer looks good and Ithe state of play is going to be interesting. Word up son
@Jacko11 Put the tinfoil away
Mindseye 2 announcement fingers crossed.
@Ricksta i do hope so. At this point it’s like this is another vapourware lol
Something to get excited about will be nice.
@Broosh That's fair, I'll be interested in whatever they make.
MARATHON SEASON 2 LETS GOOOOO
@get2sammyb that's the issue though - it's a train away from home
Don't show fairgames and just say you're canceling it and that horizon is ur last concord sequel. Then show that infamous and gravity rush are coming back
Two weeks away is a hard pill to swallow but if they're gassing it up so much in advance then its gotta be pretty good right?
....right?

tbf the last State of Play was the best one they ever had so I'm going into this a bit more optimistic than usual; all I'm really hoping for is a release date for CV Belmont's Curse and maybe a 3D Castlevania collection if we're lucky 🙏
Knack 3.
Has to be.
I kind of wonder if this is an "Only on Playstation" show on the PS Studios side of things considering the recent article about PC. In this outcome, live service like Marvel Tokon appearing at Summer Game Fest instead of SoP.
Two weeks advance notice and over an hour?? Oh they got something special 👀
@Judal27 hope fairgames is cancelled and they need cancel that horizon live service game well they are at it
While announcing a SoP 2 weeks in advance may seem weird, this is also their June show, aka the formerly E3 time period, aka the Geoff Keighly NOT E3 show, so just think of it as announcing THAT show 2 weeks early, b/c E3 show times were always given out far in advance.
So don't think of it as a SoP, think of it as an early jump on Summer Game Fest. It's June, it's what gaming companies do. Though Nintendo will just drop their summer show on their new app w/o warning. 😂
Looking forward to Wolverine. Curious if they can get me to buy a game I've been waiting 5 years for, or if they'll somehow find a way to turn it into a souls like or rogue like and have me lose all interest. On the bright side it's not first person. 😁
I wonder how much time they'll spend on Fairgame$? 🤑
They have big shoes to fill because the last SoP was literal god tier!
Lemme guess... a third person action/adventure with a flawed protagonist?
Modern Sony are boring AF.
Curious to see if Sony can keep the momentum up from the last State of Play, cause the previous one was pretty good.
@ShadowRJ That's my concern but I can only hope they have learned from the strong reception of the SoP from the last two or so years and especially Febs "basically a showcase" SOP.
If its true that Sony have the marketing for GTA then I can definitely see a new trailer being dropped at the SoP, which would also make sense why they have announced it in advanced to get as many people's attention as possible. If both Intergalactic and GTA get new trailers here then wow what a huge win that would be.
Definitely not holding my breath Sony has been an utter disappointment this generation. It makes me a little angry. They're loosing me and my son. Since I don't okay my PS5 Pro as much my son could care less.
Sony's horrible decisions regarding gaming has lost two generations of gamers. Sony has been an utter joke this generation.
For all you that say "BuTt Da GaMesss" the PS5 is your first real console after the switch you had.
Sony has factually and figuratively made less great game and exclusives this generation than any other generation in Playststion history.
Xbox made games have a better Metacritic score than PS exclusives for the first time ever!
Sony is such a joke!
@RBMango I'd be curious to check the timeline for their May/June ones. I feel like these are the ones they do usually announce a bit earlier than their other more "normal" SoPs 🤔
Pretty crazy they announced it this early .must be a big one
Now that they've said they are going back to exclusives they should announce Bloodborne 2.
I’ll check it out, but I am way more interesting tosee what Capcom announces at the show. They usually have something of note for these kinds of Sony events, so all I would like to see is something about Devil May Cry (remake of 1 or a 6th entry, I am not fussed) and whatever they are doing on the resident evil front, perhaps a remake announcement of 5 or Code:Veronica! If any of that shows up, then this will be a perfect nights viewing!
2 weeks in advance? Dare I say, some confidence?
more wolverine is my favorite part of this , everything else is just bonus.
Christmas, oh yeah... and forget the price hike.
@Propaperpusher
I was with you until this nonsense. You think series like Zelda, Metroid, Mario, Donkey Kong aren't real games?
2 weeks away, Sony has to have something big. 🤔
This also being shown in select theatres and being announced so far in advance has me thinking they have some Big Things...
I'm calling it now Final Fantasy VII REturn will be there.
Almost 2 weeks in advance, 60+ minutes AND thisll be watchable in cinemas?
Could this be ps6 related? I highly doubt it but youll never know. Either way this is going to be excellent
the fact they announce 2 weeks out and are also showing this at select theatres is giving me unnecessary hype! They have to expect to blow some people out of the water to do that, I don't think they have done theatre viewings since 2016!!
Wish list: New Jak and Daxter, Infamous 1 and 2 Remakes, and brand new Infamous with Cole returning. Highly unlikely but one can dream.
Be cool to see how Intergalactic is coming along.
Wolverine will be a must buy!
I just want release dates for Road Kings and Hell Let Loose: Vietnam.
2026 release dates please!
@Blauwe_Chimay Hell Let Loose Vietnam releases on the 18th June. They announced it within the last few weeks or so. Hoping it's gonna be good 😊
Only want to see Wolverine
Fingers crossed for media molecule. They've been dormant long enough!
I don't think my expectations or excitement has ever been lower.
ONLY ON PLAYSTATION!
LEEEEEEEET'S GO!
That's cool they're putting it in some theaters. Must be something big. Wonder what all will be shown there.
Being screened so it’s going to be a big one.
I also think, as it has been announced so early, that a couple of third party titles are announcing before it and then having a deeper dive at the showcase perhaps?
Well the first week of June is shaping up well with PS and XBOX show cases.
Over to you Nintendo or is that Nintendslow.
I would like to see some VR2 games, as always, perhaps even a big game such as RE9 or even Forza 6.
We can hope.
Aside from that perhaps some indication of the old IP, would love to see Motorstorm (VR2 support is a must) or a Resistance or perhaps Infamous.
Interesting hoping they show some new stuff there, mostly hoping for Kotor Remake to be shown.
Don’t know why the sub title says summer showcase though as the 2nd of June is still Spring
Any live service game they announce at this is going to be facing an uphill battle from the get-go.
Please don’t be crap and no more than 15 minutes of Wolverine.
@CaptD It's do or die time for Resident Evil: Requiem VR, if they don't unveil it on June 2nd, I'm throwing in the towel and just going to play the PCVR mod instead. Astrobot: RM, Ocean Descent and RE7 VR would be amazing to get on PSVR2 but its highly unlikely at this point. Those 3 should of been available at launch.
Yes sir!!!!!! Damn I don't remember the time we had 2 60min plus events in the same year Sony is about too cook again
@WaveBoy
Indeed, plus Wipeout which is a PSVR1 game that I really miss.
Very annoying how Sony have mishandled (ie ignored) the upgrade situation and it costs them headset sales imo.
Also games like The Persistence (on PSVR1) which had a PCVR release but they couldn’t be bothered to port it to PSVR2. Shameful.
However they were clearly funding things like RE4/8/Hitman and highly likely MSFS2024 so it isn’t all grim.
3 games I really, really, REALLY hope to see more of and would make it a 10/10 show for me. If we get any of either JUDAS gameplay, Little Devil Inside release date, or KOTOR remake information, I will lose my ever-loving mind. Little Devil Inside especially, I have been salivating for that game for over 5 years at this point, just give it to me!!
Not worth to go to the theaters, they are charging $10 plus a fee, back when they did E3 conferences they did it at AMC theaters and they were actually free and you got some sweet free swag, games and etc
I'm gonna try to keep my expectations in check, just happy Wolverine is still set for September.
@Zeke68 my uncle works for Nintendo and he said the remaster was happening 😂
I’m working that day, just e-mailed them to request they move it to later in the day, or I’m switching to XBOX
@CaptD
Wipeout was a trip, but the low pixelated resolution really held it back, including reprojection at 60. I don't even think PSVR2 could get it clocked at 90 at 2K per eye. We'd need a PS6 for that.
And wasn't The Persistence kind of like Dead Space in VR? I remember playing a demo of it if that's the one you're describing. Unforunaetly, PSVR2 never had the leadership with the same level of enthusiasm as PSVR1 did.
I'm just repeating myself, but the fact that we didn't get Astro Bot: RM, RE7, Ocean descent, gems like Monster of the Deep, Everybody Loves Golf, Skyrim, The Last Guardian etc was a complete fail on Sony's end. Nor any simple backwards compatability with simple PSVR2 opitmization to get games running at higher resolution & frame rates, or even just as is. Those titles have been left for dead on PSVR1, and i can't stand going back to VR1 anymore because of the cumbersome set up, camera, and low resolution.
Sony missed the Mark. I have faith they'll get it right with PSVR3 for PS6, But the passion and confidence with the future of the platform has to be there with the right team. Can't wait to get the Steam Frame, sure it wont have OLED blacks, but it does practically everything better in terms of image quality & form factor.
@WaveBoy
The Persistence was a rogue lite game where you were a clone on a spaceship, a bit dead space only in the fact that it is space and everything wants you Dead. Dead Space would be an awesome VR game and there is supposed to be something similar coming out, unfortunately I can’t remember what it is called.
Anyway it is an interesting situation that Sony are now in because Meta has basically left the door wide open for them to corner the medium budget titles (or VR AAA if you will) market.
I just wish they would embrace the hybrid approach though one could argue they are but only with third party (Hitman, RE, MSFS).
@CaptD
Yup, that's kind of what i remember. The Persistence was available through one of the three PSVR Digtial Demo discs. It was pretty neat for it's time, but Space Odyssey left a much bigger impression and impact on me. A lot of it doesn't hold up though simply because PSVR1's poor pixelated soft low resolution, noticeable screen door affect and for whatever reason it's not delivering OLED blacks, they look grey. PSVR2 has deeper blacks. Once you get a taste of both PSVR2, Q3 & now Steam Frame it makes it nearly impossible to appreciate what the PSVR1 is doing. There are exceptions like Astro Bot: RM and the great white shark from Ocean Descent, but none of it feels mind blowing or as magical as it once did in the late 2010's.
The only recent Dead Space-likes in VR that i can think of today are Cosmo Dread(PSVR2) which is blurry, unpolished and rough around the edges, & Memorem(Quest 3) which i hear didn't exactly live up to the hype.
Sigh, Quest 3 had such a magical launch during Q4 of 2023, with so much promise and excitement, but that's all over now. I still love it for it's mixed reality games(Ocean Rift MR, Puzzling Places MR and so on) & the Theatre Eslwhere app. Plus those pancake lenses, 25 pixels per degree, higher sub pixel count from it's RGB LCD Display, zero head movement motion blur at 100 nits brightness, and lack of Mura ultimately make it a clear step above PSVR2 purely in terms of image clarity, putting aside the much better form factor. But as everybody knows the black levels suck, and it doesn't have as good 3D depth perpection thanks to it's lower stereo overlap.
And ya, we all thought Sony was going to follow through with the entire Hybrid approach, but that didn't pan through after Resident Evil 4 Remake. The PCVR hybrid Mod scene is the only place for that.
And 9 more days until State of Play. There's a 5% chance we'll get a Resident Evil 9: Requiem VR Unveil. lol If it doesn't happen, my PSVR2 days will be over after i get a Steam Frame and good PC. Might even get the Dream Air SE too.
@Propaperpusher What are all these xbox games that have higher metacritic scores than sony's games? The only ones I can think of are Indiana Jones and Forza. The rest of their games this gen have ranged from mediocre to downright terrible
