Maverick Games, a new studio made up of former Forza Horizon developers, has announced its debut project: Clutch.

This is a "cinematic open-world action-driving game" that'll feature both traditional circuit races and "action-packed underground race-and-chase sandbox gameplay where speed and style meet high-stakes pursuits and risky escapes".

It's coming to PS5 in Spring 2027, and the full reveal takes place later this week during the Summer Game Fest show.

UK-based developer Maverick Games is led by Mike Brown, who previously served as a game designer and creative designer on the past four Forza Horizon entries. He was also involved in the development of Motorstorm Apocalypse and DriveClub.

Other developers who previously worked on Forza Horizon, who have made the jump to Clutch are Tom Butcher (producer), Matt Craven (technical director), Gareth Harwood (technical art director), Fraser Stachan (audio director), and Ben Penrose (art director).

During the Summer Game Fest unveiling on Friday, we'll get to see more of the game's story, actors, and world.

Built on Unreal Engine 5, the open world adopts a PvPvE structure, so you'll see other real-life drivers going about their duties as you race around. Clutch is also looking to offer a very deep level of car customisation, as well as elements that give the cars a more human feel.

We'll learn much more at Summer Game Fest this week, but what are your first impressions of Clutch? Post them in the comments below.
