Oh my god, it's actually happening.
Following on from a rather blatant tease earlier in the year, Capcom has announced Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen — a huge expansion for the 2024 action RPG.
Much like the original Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, the sequel's equivalent adds a whole new, explorable, seemingly endgame-focused region to the game.
It's currently unclear if the new Dark Arisen will accompany any fundamental gameplay changes to the base Dragon's Dogma 2 experience.
The bad news is it's coming out on the 9th October, adding to an already insane release schedule on Sony's system. Seriously, how the hell am I going to play all this stuff?

I never stopped believing!
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!
Ok, it's an expansion confirmed. I'm game! 😁
There is so much unfinished in the base game alone, they would have to complete that with this update to bring me back. Was one of the biggest disappointments I experienced in gaming.
The tusked enemy they show in that clip looks like a reskin of one of vast 6ish enemy types in the game, complete with the exact same ogre animations 🤣
Maybe it will be a genuine uplift, but my hopes are low given that the series creator left Capcom years ago.
I’ll be there day one. Dragon’s Dogma 2 is one of my all time favorite games, and this expansion looks excellent.
Hmmm hope I can just use my end game save to access it, or easily access in Ng+
Still have nightmares of pawns repeating the same things over and over. While the endgame was unique in its destructive setting, I need to see more before even attempting a replay.
A friend of mine was telling me I need to give DD2 a shot a long time ago, so I feel this is a good time.
We are ready
I had to stop playing sadly. Knowing I could make the game a cakewalk just by downloading some OP peons gave me this stupid feeling I just couldn't ignore after a while.
Day one for me. I love some dragons dogma and I’ve been hoping they’d do a dark arisen style expansion
If my save has me in the unmoored world do I have to slog through that to play the DLC or what
The trailer had me at vaulting/backflipping archer.
Did they ever update this to play at 60fps and also have an option to reduce your companions' repetitive comments?
So happy with this, can't wait to start playing again.
Super excited for this! Felt like I was in gaming limbo after I platinum’d Dragon’s Dogma 2!
That's where deep down got to
Damn. I wasn't expecting much and Nintendo came out swinging with their Direct.
Safe to say this has been the best not-E3 week in years with the big three all having strong shows.
I loved Dragon's Dogma 2, and I am so pleased to see there is finally some DLC. I can imagine playing the game on a portable will be awesome too.
Didn't see this coming. Its also getting a big update tomorrow. Hopefully PSSR 2.0 is added for the Pro.
I bought the game on sale and tried it for some nights only to set it aside for Star Wars: Outlaws.
The difference between Dragon's Dogma 2 and other modern games in terms of graphics is crazy. Dragon's Dogma 2 looks like a PS3 game in every facet.
I intend to find my way back to DD2, but is the DLC meant for a second playthrough? I'd much rather have a better experience with dlc that adds extra stuff to the mainline game like more weapons, enemies, areas and mechanics. Is that too much to hope for?
@DennisReynolds
I really hope it can improve the game. I remember it looking really rough and having PS2-3 level design.
@Throb It can barely hit 60 on the Pro. The game is way too CPU bound. It will be interesting to see how the Switch 2 handles it.
I'm not even close to finishing the main game, it's quite a time sink and I've had it on hold for ages. Still, one day maybe.
@KundaliniRising333 Well he was the director of the base game and all its flaws were there with him at the helm. So I don't see how he would have fixed things if he remained. I remember the interviews where he was defending a lot of the flaws as his vision including lack of fast travel.
So will owners have to pay for the DLC? Just curious for those who own the base game or bought the deluxe edition
@LastNorth_16 obviously same way with mh expansion doesn't matter if you bought the deluxe because when you bought that didn't say anything about an expansion
I still can't believe this is literally the best summer game season ever nothing will top this in the next few years
Just give me hard mode, more monster variety and new vocations
OMG! I can't believe this, guys. We've made it happen. Haha...
@Yor-sama just asking as I do not own it. game just seems clunky from the start
Ah shiet, here we go again lol. Always ready for more Dragon's Dogma. Capcom is really on a roll lately goddamn.
Yes! I'll be definitely starting anew just before this is released.
@Ravix Long time no see, Mr Roth.
@LastNorth_16 Tbh, the game is nowhere near perfect. But it's one of the most fun RPGs, in all the right areas, that I've ever played. Wayyy more than many seemingly perfect and safe games.
Hard to explain until someone actually plays it.
@Ravix I'm also ready with my Khalessi and Taylor Swift. Though I'll probably delete my save and run through the game and DLC fresh, it's going to be hard to beat the previous Dark Arisen DLC. I have faith so we'll see.
@ApostateMage Tim Roth rides again, and he is at your command, Arisen.
@GirlVersusGame I feel like Khalesi was quite a popular one because of the voice sounding so similar 😄 which was your main and which was the pawn?
Do you both have experience with the first Dark Arisen, and Is it usually best to do a full NG+ or use an old save? I'm not exactly sure how it works yet. But I do kind of miss that Pawn Chatter so I will probably be getting this to find out!
I'm almost tempted to retire Tim Roth for Esteemed Character Actress Margo Martindale, however 😱 as I think I had a few random creations saved on that creator demo, but I fear it wouldn't be the same and he might be upset 😢
@Ravix I don't think I've heard the actual television character speak, I saw only season one of Game of Thrones, I didn't like the end so I tried a different show instead. The game has dragon in the name, she has baby dragons in all of those pictures so that was my choice. For Taylor Swift I was probably listening to her at the time. For the first game either the character creator wasn't that in-depth or I rushed mine just to play, I used a big hat so it mustn't have been great. The armor is really similar, and that move is the one I used for most of that island, I don't remember getting far without magic. The best way I could describe it would be is the first time you play the original Demon's Souls on PS3, it hurts, it feels unfair but there's room to grow into the pain and then the pain feels great. That might be why I liked it so much, it was really difficult. I died so much on the island, I usually collect up a warehouse of consumables in most games, for the DLC I kept using wakestones.
It looks like I played it on PS5, I don't remember any performance issues.
I can't remember the story for the first game only that it ended just as fast as the second one. As soon as I felt like I'd started questing the credits rolled, I had to check that I hadn't spaced out for a couple of hours while the pawns played the game for me.
The DLC with the island was better than the main game, it didn't even seem like that big of a location but there was something really addictive about how they put it together. I remember farming something to trade with an NPC at the entrance and I think they dropped from bosses. I know I never beat Death, I haven't beaten him in Vampire Survivors either, he shows up and I'm dead. I didn't beat the boss at the end of the Dark Arisen DLC either, I didn't want to use someone else's pawns to do it and mine kept dying. The bosses themselves were really well designed, I think you'd appreciate the aesthetics. It's darkly decadent, very Fromsoft too.
As far as I can remember you can't go to that island until you are a certain level so you'd have to do the story. It's harder than the second game too, bandits seem weak but they aren't and that's what killed me the most. I have a clear memory of going left after the starter town and being frequently murdered, so maybe don't go left.
I'm not sure if it was NG+ I'll see if my trophies give any kind of a clue. I'm missing 'complete the adventure a second time', I must have gone straight to the DLC after the story. I didn't reach level 200 or finish speed-run mode either, but really who has. If the main game is open and focuses on those vast landscapes the island is best described as darker, tighter, restricted (pathways do open) it's a lot like what I said about Control, a dream for an agoraphobic. Just talking about it makes me want to play it again, the only downside is constantly being stalked by Death, that's a nightmare for anxiety, once you balance the two it becomes highly playable. Just run when you hear the toll of a bell, when you start to hear the whispers it might be too late.
@LastNorth_16 for my experience I played over 70hrs with the endgame ending unlocked
Believe me this 1 one of the best Capcom games I Know the frame rate is kinda whatever but is better now
And story is nothing special but the gameplay, vocations abilities and the complete freedom is enough to give this game a solid 8.5/10 and now with the expansion easily 9.5/10
I just hope they put hard mode and at least 1 or 2 new vocations and some new monsters
@Yor-sama thanks for this. I might pick up this game. thank for your honest opinion
@puddinggirl thanks for this. i might pick this up
Is the main game even 60fps? It was my main reason for not buying it at launch. I don't buy anything not at 60fps, it's automatically trash for me.
Eternalferry stone, longer Oxcart schedule time, more skill slots, more monsters oh my! https://www.reddit.com/r/DD2DarkArisen
@LastNorth_16 plus we have a really good character creation
If you're expecting top tier story forget that but if you just for the gameplay and freedom to explore and getting new loot you can expect Alot of hours of fun
@GigaGaia 50-60 now. There are more updates coming, maybe you can check back after the DLC launched.
@Yor-sama for you, i will check it out
@LastNorth_16 👌👌👌👍
