Playground Games has just wrapped up confirming Fable for a PS5 release on 23rd February 2027, and with it, PS Store pre-orders have gone live.
There's a £60 / $70 base version and a £90 / $100 Premium Edition on offer, with the latter revealing the action RPG will be expanded beyond launch with DLC.
One expansion has been confirmed: Order of the Hero. It's pitched as a "story‑driven expansion that draws you into the secrets of a dark, ancient cult hidden deep within the perilous beauty of Albion". It adds a new region to the game full of "danger, wonder, and whispers of long buried power. As you explore, your deeds earn the cultist’s admiration, and you rise to become their latest (and greatest) celebrity overseer."

That'll arrive at some point after the February 2027 launch, so on day one, the Premium Edition offers the following over the base game purchase:
- Five days of early access
- Premium Edition Content Pack (Splendid Armour, Bastard Armour, and in-game gifts)
- Digital artbook and soundtrack

I will probably end up buying this because my fiance loves Fable. I've never even played Fable. She keeps telling me to play it but I keep thinking it's going to get ported to PS5 at some point so I've been holding off so I don't have to break out the 360. These are my troubles.
On the one hand, at least it’s actual legitimate story dlc and not a low effort wave survival cash grab. On the other hand, known dlc and the game is 6months away? Sounds like this could have been part of the main game and it’s being artificially bisected and withheld for additional paid content.
@Balaam_ There's no evidence to suggest the DLC is actively being worked on right now. They can have plans to do the expansion and work on it after release.

This is just the standard GamePass model. Sell advanced access+DLC to get money out of Gamepass users from launch day.

We have no idea what's going on behind the scenes. I mean, for all we know, the game could be done at this point and is just being delayed to avoid a crowded release window.
The multiple delays mean that development timelines keep getting thrown off. And instead of announcing the DLC at a more appropriate time, they decided to just toss it in as a Premium Edition add-on.
Can't wait for this game it could easily be an early game of the year contender for next year!
Clearly publishers have data that suggests that people are more likely to buy DLC if they know what's on it in advance or at least announce that their will be DLC post launch.
@johncalmc This is already coming to PS5. Unless you mean a port of the OG Fable? In which case, that's not happen

@Balaam_ They sold Doom TDA expansion as part of a deluxe edition what you could pre-order, over a year later and its only just had a reveal trailer.
Well I was already waiting for a dlc announcement anyway,mso at least now I know. Will wait 3 years for the complete directors cut.
It's been a a supremely expensive day for me because not only did I buy the Gears of War: E-Day Collector's Edition and the Halo: Combat Evolved Collector's Edition, but I also just bought the Fable Collector's Edition.

We do not know if they are even working on the dlc so to just namecall based off your feelings is silly. There's nothing wrong with having future plans. Movie trilogies get planned in advance, tv seasons, book series. Doesnt mean they started on them.

I'm glad this game is finally getting DLC. It's gotta be like 20 years old
I guess I'll be paying for just the expansion after playing this the second it hits Game Pass
It's the same thing Playground do with the Forza Horizon games, and I'm happy to pay for the Premium Edition. They always give you a base game with plenty of great content, and the expansions are excellent.
