This is the official name of the third game in Square Enix's remade trilogy, and as many fans speculated, it's very open.
Cloud and the party have access to the Highwind airship here, which allows you to zip all around the world. You can then jump off the vehicle thanks to a parachute system, and land wherever you like.
The RPG actually got way more gameplay footage than anyone thought it would. Alongside its debut trailer, Vincent Valentine voice actor Matt Mercer has given us a blowout.

The videos show all sorts of stuff, and confirm that a job system has been added. That's right, you'll be able to switch the classes of Cloud and co. to suit your needs.
And somehow, the madness doesn't end there. Revelation has locked in a spring 2027 release window.

Honestly thought the Highwind was gona be like X and you just pick a place on the map and warp to it. My god. Might take away from the Midgar Break in though haha. My only fear is they have scraped Rocket Town, I really hope not!

@Andy22385 To be honest Rockstar games never win GOTY (remember RDR2 lost to GoW) just because it's going to sell millions of copies doesn't automatically make it the winner, Astro Bot won and sold 2M copies right?

Probably just me but i'm not hype for this game compare to a couple of years ago. It's like my hype shrinking a lot. I guess it's because the long wait between years and my view towards RPG and current Square and FF has changed these past 2-3 years...

I love the FF Job System. Even FFX-2 I enjoyed quite a bit. The tactics games have the best job systems, but I suspect this will not be so in-depth.

I’m BEYOND stoked, this will be my game of the year for me.
I'm not into these wink wink remakes at all but as a Final Fantasy VII enjoyer it looks like - unless I missed something, or misunderstood what they said - they're either skipping a bunch of stuff or meteor is coming early in this? I wouldn't be surprised if they were skipping stuff - at this point they probably just want to get the thing done and move on, and they've got over half the story left to go in one game. Still, it's weird.
Anyway, nice seeing the gang and it looks cool. Just can't do the kingdom hearts alternate timeline anime nonsense again. Everyone seems happy about it though, so good!
@johncalmc I feel like I'm also part of that small minority, of not being into the whole multiple timelines thing. Just takes a lot of the drama away, because if anything happens... well, there's a timeline where it didn't, so no biggie 🤷
I really would have rather they stuck faithfully to the story and just implemented the new gameplay systems etc. Minus a lot of the open world bloat!

@J2theEzzo It bothers me how close these games are to what I want but they're ruined by the multiple timeline whatever the hell is going on they've added. It's so lame, because none of it even matters. They barely alter the story and the party keeps ending up in the same place. I could at least appreciate it if they took a wild swing and did something totally different. Here it's the worst of both - neither a true remake or something new. Still, it's nearly over. Then everyone can go back to asking for a proper remake for the next 20 years and maybe next time they'll make it a musical or something.

@johncalmc Well it's post Temple of the Ancients, so the next stuff is Aeris (yes, AeriS) running off, we go north, she gets killed, we go and find the actual Sephiroth and Cloud hands him the black materia - then the Weapons appear. There isn't much to get through until Meteor appears. IIRC, disc 3 in the original release was tiny. It was basically just the Northern Crater, so it's not like each game is lining up to a disc
@Matroska Rebirth ends at the end of disc one so we have the entirety of disc 2 and then the little bit of 3. Next would be the snow fields wouldn't it? Then I guess the reunion etc. which leads to Junon and the meteor reveal. So we're skipping straight to meteor - unless I'm forgetting stuff. It's been a few years. I might have the order wrong in my head. But there's still loads of story to pack into one game.

@johncalmc Well theres not that much to go. It's the northern continent which is the dig site, forest, city of the ancients, snow village, snow field, cliffs, then caves leading to Sephiroth. Depends how much they expand each part.
Once that happens you've got the parts when Cloud isn't the controlled character, the submarine, Midgar, then endgame (IIRC). I can't remember exactly when they get Highwind but I think it's after Cloud rejoins so it feels like there'll be an Act 1 up until Meteor, then Act 2 with Cloud being in a wheelchair, then Act 3 onwards is Highwind open world stuff. Open world stuff being like it is, I bet that's the bulk of it because it'll be all side quests, minigame and gathering weapons and materials.
@Matroska You get the highwind from Junon which is after reunion/black materia shenanigans/escape from shinra. So if they're skipping straight to highwind access and meteor in the sky, they're missing out all that stuff. Unless they're doing it out of order or doing something weird. Also, even though they said you'll have the highwind from the start, they might have just meant early, not right away. I don't know. I'm probably not going to play it anyway 😂
As I thought ages ago. Part 3 title is an R word, just like the first two.
FF7: Revelation is my most anticipated game. Witcher 4, Persona 6 (if it ever gets announced. Hoping for today), Yakuza/Like A Dragon 9 (whenever that gets announced) and Ace Attorney 7 (if it even exists 😭😭😭) are close behind. I never have played the original (I plan to once FF7 Part 3 concludes) so it’s surprising this game has topped my list.
I hope we get a limited edition DualSense controller for this massive release despite it being multi-console. They could come up with an absolutely insane design. At bare minimum, I’m buying the steelbook and/or Collector’s Edition if/when it gets announced.
@Yor-sama Hahaha... tell me about it. I redownloaded Rebirth and Stellar Blade yesterday and decided to play them again before the sequels are released.
I wish Part 1 was even cheaper now I mean like £10 lol I have part 2 on disc and it's been sealed for 2 years I think I've had it for I'm sure it's been 2 years either which I got it for father's day with Tekken 8, FF16 as well which I need to play.
Anyway I got to wall market and I got bored because of the long grind to get the items to her onto Cornellos palace

I will do another playthrough of rebirth 1 or 2 months before revelation
