We already knew Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World was coming to PS5, but now we have a release date.
Thankfully, this one's managed to avoid the September and October nightmare schedule, and is set for the 3rd December.
As the headline of this article alludes, this is the first time in decades that a PlayStation console has been blessed with a Dragon Quest Monsters game.
The last Monsters title to launch on a Sony system was Dragon Quest Monsters 1+2 — a Japan-exclusive collection that hit the PS1 in 2002.

Nintendo's practically owned the spin-off series ever since, so The Withered World's multiplatform approach marks a real change in strategy.
You can get a half decent look at the RPG via the above trailer, which showcases some battle-based monster recruiting, along with a bit of exploration.

I’ve already pre-ordered the collectors edition. That should tell you how I feel about it. Can’t wait!
Strange how during the 40th anniversary presentation it sounded like they were unsure if this game would even be ready before DQXII, and only showed 2D assets in the trailer to boot like it was really early on... Only for it to get a 2026 release date and full gameplay reveal just a few days later.
Maybe it was a mistranslation, or they just want to keep fans on their toes
I've never played the Monsters spin offs before but absolutely love the main series. I can't wait to get this and it's out the day before my birthday too so will treat myself early.
Crazy to think that in December of last year SE 2026 looked practically bare bones months later we this amount of announcements and releases
This summer was filled with SE Ws
...Do these games have the same music as the mainline series?
