God of War Laufey Could Release as Early as February or March on PS5 1

It’s been repeated multiple times that God of War Laufey may be closer than we all think, but how does February or March feel to you?

As part of a larger video delving into the vacuum created by GTA 6’s imminent 19th November launch, Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier said he “wouldn't be surprised if [it] gets announced for February or March pretty soon”.

Schreier was speaking more broadly about how publishers like Sony may be looking to simply get out of the way of Rockstar’s latest release.

He explained:

“If you’re a God of War Laufey, for example, you might look at the landscape and you might say, “Hey, I feel like this is going to be our big tentpole release, it’s going to be a really good game. It’s going to be well reviewed. It’s got a lot of really interesting things going for it. We should be able to get a bunch of media attention.” And that’s not going to happen if you release anywhere near GTA 6.”

We’ve seen practically all publishers vacate the weeks surrounding GTA 6, leading to cramping in September and October, when all the big holiday titles are set to deploy within an eight week period.

With Marvel’s Wolverine coming on 15th September, I suspect God of War Laufey was always looking at an early 2027 release. But I agree with Schreier’s sentiment: there’s just no point going head-to-head with GTA 6.

Assuming the Santa Monica Studio spin-off is coming in February and March – and to be fair this does sound more like educated speculation than an actual leak – I wonder where that will leave Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, which has also been touted for a 2027 release.
