GTA 6 PS5

Update #2 []:

A few hours later, the GTA 6 marketing push from PlayStation has been restored. Social media posts have been remade with the same branding as before, but the image has been updated.

It seems Sony was using an old GTA 6 logo and the launch PS5 model in its imagery, both of which have been updated, as seen below. So, as you were!

Update #1 []: Sony launched a big campaign earlier today, declaring GTA 6 “plays best on PS5”. It seemed like the start of a marketing alliance between the platform holder and Rockstar, but almost all mentions have since been removed from social media.

The original PS Blog post remains, and still has the same phrasing, but the YouTube video, X post, Instagram post, Bluesky post, and more have all been removed.

I don’t think this is a particularly big deal – it’s possible there was an error in the videos, meaning they may need to be reuploaded – but I did figure it was worth pointing out.

Let’s see how this story develops.

All of the information about how GTA 6 is taking advantage of the PS5 hardware remains accurate, and is outlined in the original article below.

Original Story: With pre-orders going live shortly, the floodgates surrounding GTA 6 are beginning to open. Now we know it's an $80 game and the physical version won't ship with discs, Sony has popped up with a PlayStation Blog post detailing why GTA 6 "plays best on PS5".

Thanks to a "close partnership" between Sony and developer Rockstar Games, the big open worlder plays "best on PS5 by taking advantage of PS5’s immersive features to deliver a deeply engaging single-player experience when it launches on November 19".

Here's what Sony highlights, taken from the PlayStation Blog post:

  • PS5 puts you in the center of the game world with the DualSense wireless controller reacting to your actions and bringing the sights, sounds, and sensations of Jason and Lucia’s story into the palm of your hands
  • The controller’s haptic feedback offers responsive vibrations, while its adaptive triggers provide dynamic resistance
  • The controller’s integrated speaker also adds another dimension to key moments and interactions, with sound effects from the controller enhanced by haptic feedback
  • With Tempest 3D AudioTech, you can surround yourself in the distinct soundscapes of Leonida
  • From the streets of Vice City to the moments that unfold all across the state, this highly accurate audio positioning enhances your perception, helping to bring this world to life around you in unmatched ways. Grand Theft Auto VI also leverages the PS5’s ultra-high speed SSD, enabling you to experience the expansive world of Leonida with near-instant load times
  • If you pre-order any version of GTA 6, you instantly get a month of GTA+ for free

The article doesn't mention any Performance of Graphics modes, but there are suggestions of them circling around the Internet — they're just not official yet.
