1047 Games, the studio behind the portal-based arena shooter Splitgate, has announced its next project, and it's something a little different.
It's called Empulse, and it's another multiplayer shooter, only this time it's taking a lot of inspiration from the fan-favourite Titanfall series.
The cinematic announcement trailer below gets the message across:
As you can see, the game is set to be a first-person shooter with parkour movement, grapple hooks, and yes, large mech suits that players can pilot.

There's no proper footage just yet, but the above trailer ends with confirmation that the gameplay reveal is happening on 7th June, at the PC Gaming Show.
In the absence of a third Titanfall game, this might scratch the same itch, but it'll largely depend on how nicely it plays.
Empulse is confirmed for PS5, and it's launching in early access at some point this year. Are you interested? Tell us in the comments section below.

No campaign = No sale. Part of what made the second Titanfall a classic was the brilliant campaign (and the PvE mode added later).
Seems interesting enough to try, at the very least. Splitgate is actually a pretty fun game to play, but the aesthetics and general vibe of the ecosystem isn't enough to keep you around long-term.
And what design choices 1047 Games makes and how well they support it after release. This studio's track record can be charitably described as "iffy". As much as I adored Titanfall 2's multiplayer and would love a game in that vein, I won't be putting money on 1047 being able to deliver.
Such a shame we never got another Titanfall game!
Titanfall 2 was a great game top to bottom the campaign was brilliant!
It needs to have a decent campaign for me to be interested. That is the reason that I bought Titanfall 2, but not the first game...
Titanfall 2 is one of the best videogames ever created, so I don't see this hitting the same heights.
Didn't splitgate 2 flop though?
Nice! I actually really liked Splitgate. The only reason I don't play it anymore is just because I can't keep up with the competition. Very sweaty but the game itself is good.
Anyway I'll definitely try their take on Titanfall.
Well I only played TF2 for the awesome campaign so unfortunately this won't fill in that hole for me. Probably the best FPS campaign I have ever played BTW.
I couldn't even get through the entire word "multiplayer" before I already passed...
E.A. remember the games..Titanfall,Dirt rally,E.A. wrc rally,Burnout..The games E.A. have single handedly destroyed let alone the excellent devs they bought and then f**ked over. I'll keep an eye on this as it could be good and if its free to play then there's nothing to lose.
Love love love Titan Fall 2 however there are not enough players to compete on it any longer so the wait time for games are ridiculous. Would love a Titan Fall sequel!
Is that the "Make FPS great again" guy?
@MasterChiefWiggum I’ll never forget that assault course trophy! I actually asked online for someone to help me with it via Share play and was mocked relentlessly for it. So I got gud at it and then offered on the same thread to do it for other people via SharePlay just to p them off. Think I did it for 6 other people in the end via SharePlay . It didn’t go down well with the get guds but we had the last laugh😁. Doing it for someone in Canada was the best. The street i lived on at the time had terrible internet and if more than one person was online on the street my speed dropped so much SharePlay barely worked so I stayed up til early morning and got a perfect connection and nailed it for him. He’s still my online buddy today 👍🏻
Titanfall 2 was the best "COD" type campaign I've ever played. A third title could have continued the buddy-story further and maybe expanded on that time-travel mechanic which was amazing but under-utilised.
Clearly this is no substitute and has absolutely no appeal to me.
The multiplayer shooter market is very competitive and if there was that much interest there would still be a massive audience playing the original Titanfall games.
I wish them the best, but am not optimistic for their success.
@GamingGod That people get so mad when people ask for help its insane.
Like with Elden Ring shaming people for using Spirit Ashes or being a mage its so weird.
