You Can Turn Off Wolverine PS5's Blood and Gore If You Want To 1

Marvel’s Wolverine is shaping up to be the goriest game Sony studio Insomniac has ever made, but you can disable the blood if you’re not a fan of the over-the-top violence.

Speaking with IGN in the aftermath of State of Play, Game Director Mike Daly explained that the Spider-Man maker aimed to be “unapologetically violent” with its latest game, reflecting what fans expect from the comic book character.

But he added that while the copious amounts of crimson was planned from the beginning, there is an accessibility toggle to make things a bit more tame if you don’t want to see Logan covered in the guts of goons.

He explained:

“Now all that being said, we know that it's not for everyone. And because we knew this was going to be a big part of the game from the beginning, we also implemented an accessibility feature to turn off gore. It's clearly integrated into the game in a lot of different ways, and so it's a nuanced feature that is very selective about what we show, what we censor, turning off blood and things like that, just in order to make it more palatable to people who don't really want to have that part of the experience.”

In hindsight, I think it’s hilarious there was legitimate debate about whether Marvel’s Wolverine would be violent at all before it was fully revealed.

Now we’ve seen a good chunk of gameplay, it’s clear Insomniac has gone all-in on the gore, and I’d agree with Daly’s description of “unapologetically violent”.

I personally won’t be disabling the blood, it seems to be fundamental for the type of experience the team wanted to make, but I don’t think it’s a bad thing the dev is giving players the option.

At the end of the day, it doesn’t hurt to give players the option to enjoy the game in the way they want to.

Will you be disabling Wolverine's gore?
