God of War Show's Kratos to Be Recast After Ryan Hurst Suffers Injury During Filming 1

Ryan Hurst, who was set to play the lead role of Kratos in Amazon's God of War TV adaptation, will reportedly be recast, according to Deadline.

The actor is being replaced because of a serious injury sustained while performing a stunt on the set of the show.

In a report from TMZ, Hurst apparently tore a bicep, necessitating surgery and a lengthy recovery period. Production of the show has been on hold during this time; it was hoped he'd be able to continue from mid-August, but reportedly requires more time for his arm to fully heal.

Due to the time it'll take for Hurst to recover (likely not before 2027), and potential further health risks filming the physically demanding show, it's been decided to recast the role.

Doing so is a big decision; a lot of the already-completed filming will have to be redone to accommodate the new Kratos. Production has been underway since March of this year, and Deadline's sources say four episodes of the show had already been completed.

No commentary from Sony or Amazon has been made on the matter.

It's hoped that filming will pick back up in mid-October, so we might learn who is set to replace Hurst by then.

I hope he gets well soon.
