Irate PlayStation Fans Want You to Buy Games Anywhere But PS5 1

Irate PlayStation fans are now encouraging their followers to buy great third-party and indie games elsewhere, as the fallout from Sony’s decision to stop manufacturing physical discs rumbles on.

As we reported recently, every time the Japanese giant promotes a game on its social media accounts, it’s attracting an onslaught of anger from frustrated fans. I can’t help but wonder how the devs feel about all this.

With the release of Denshattack this week, I noticed dozens of accounts in my social media feed retweeting Sony’s post about the excellent arcade train game, encouraging their followers to buy it elsewhere.

The Dreamcast-era outing is only available digitally on all platforms, but it seems fans think if they can deter players from spending on the PS Store, this will hit Sony where it hurts and force it to reconsider its decision.

Elesewhere, as I reportedly previously, PlayStation’s official YouTube channel has become a hellscape of negative comments, extending to unrelated indie games.

The maker of Teeto mentioned this on BlueSky, explaining how it was excited to launch its game, only for its YouTube trailer to be downvoted and dominated by the disc debacle.

It’s been two weeks since the manufacturer made its announcement about physical media now, and it’s yet to communicate any further information. In my opinion, we’ve reached the point where only an about-face will suffice.

Sony, for what it’s worth, seems intent on posting through this mess – but I have to wonder what kind of conversations it’s having with its partners, because I wouldn’t want my game to be promoted by PlayStation right now.

How long can this be allowed to continue? I have to imagine this has reached the point where panicked conversations are occurring behind closed doors.

Has Sony's disc debacle convinced you to buy games elsewhere?
