Phantom Blade Zero PS5 Demo Leaks Before Next Week's State of Play

I can't wait for the demo. Phantom blade zero is the only game I really want this year. I'm not getting Wolverine, so this will do for me! Bring on the full game!

@somnambulance pretty much what i've seen is onimusha/devil may cry action with like a souls like feeling environment , they've been pretty out spoken that its not a souls game though.

If there's no physical version of the demo than I'm not playing it.

@twitchtvpat From the first bit of footage I saw I thought it looked a Ninja gaiden/Stellar Blade as in it has dial-in combos.

@Enuo i know you are joking but that brings me back to the playstation underground and all those magazines that used to come with the demo discs , i still have so many of those laying around i was subscribed to the underground service back in the day.

@somnambulance i thought it was pretty smart for phantom blade to delay to October to separate enough so if you wanted to play a lot of of the September games you can , hopefully the demo can win some people over like yourself , give a taste of the game.

Exactly. Wukong was absolutely a Souls like and in fact when you search souls like up in major game sales stores, Wukong always pops up.

I suspect Phantom Blade will follow very similar adjacent path.

@twitchtvpat funny you mention this as I was rummaging through the loft the other evening and I found a box with a load of PlayStation demo discs..Johnny bazookatone..***** game but a laugh.

I'll probably buy this anyway as its always looked superb and I am a sucker for good souls like games. A day before my birthday too so I'll treat myself.

@somnambulance yeah honestly that's exactly what I'm expecting too; a Souls game mixed with more Ninja Gaiden like combat. I fully expect some iteration of bonfires but yah that pretty much sums it up perfectly👍

It is very strange to me that some of these games from the East keep trying to Market it as something different when it's clearly just an East inspired souls like game. My issue though is more with the level design with some of these. they're just terrible, Wukong included. I hope that this one has better level design regardless, as I'm actually a Soul fan but I get why it would piss people off that don't like that difficulty based genre.

My main concern with this game in particular after that most recent trailer is just the fact that it looks like just spamming down bloated health bars while watching pretty animations and on rails finishers and I find that to be very boring as a game progresses a few hrs in even if it has meaningful exploration. If it doesn't it's a hard pass for me.

The good news though, is that devs are starting to learn and bake in options/mechanics into the gameplay that allow for an easier experience, ignoring the cult like crowd that wants them to remain hard only just to pad a fragile ego. Accessibility is always welcome imo.

I will be glad to try it before handing my money over. GTA6 needs a demo also.

@ShogunRok hey, I know it's off topic, but why hasn't there been an article about stop killing games and doesitplay joining a Dutch lawsuit against Sony over PlayStation's digital store monopoly? Also that psstore prices are up to 47% higher than physical.

@KundaliniRising333 I am off the belief that action devs are just too terrified to fully commit to the old style over substance hack and slash of the old days(The Devil may cry, btw dmc also has it only level of mastery so it does have substance). They want their games to appears like they have substances and require brain usage which is why i feel we keep getting souls likes. Nowadays, i think most are trying to mix both style together..(in fact this is how i felt about wukong) but the issue is they end up leaning more one side than the other. Waiting for one more game before i take my speculation to theory. Tides of annhilation looks like a soulslike visually but gameplay looks like a straight up dmc game. Wukong looks like a dmc hack and slash at glance but is very much souls inspired. Honestly id rather action devs just picked a lane.. you want dmc stylish creative combat or do you a want grueling methodic combat. Sifu is the closest to merging both style for me so far

Demos are tried and true, especially for new IPs. It's a good move for them to put one out - I'll definitely give it a shot.

So.... The demo didn't leak. Ok.

This was my most anticipated game but I will boycott it due to it being a digital only release. This is unacceptable!
