This recent video for Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve passed me by, but it's quite unlike anything else Bandai Namco has released about the upcoming game.
It's a trailer that's all about showcasing a number of aircraft you'll be able to pilot when the flight action game launches on 2nd October, and it reminds me of Gran Turismo's unique reverence for cars.
Over some serene music that builds into something more energetic, we see several fighters looking their absolute best, with shots of them on the ground and in the air.
There's a clear love for these vehicles coming through that puts me in mind of Polyphony Digital's obsessive attitude towards cars, always painting them in the best light.
Obviously, a big difference between Ace Combat and Gran Turismo is that the latter is a simulator while the former is not. However, it seems they're similarly infatuated with their respective modes of transport.
It's a really nice video that not only shows off a handful of planes, it's also a reminder that AC8 is a looker; it's quite a step up from Ace Combat 7, with more detailed environments and some amazing-looking skies.
