You'll Never Play This Cancelled Star Wars Action RPG, Appearing Online Following Studio Closure 1

It's a bit scary to think about, but there must be dozens of dream game projects that get shut down each year that we'll simply never know about.

In a rare example of an unannounced, cancelled game becoming public knowledge, it's emerged that Echtra Games, closed in 2025, was working on a big Star Wars action RPG, alongside the developer of Star Wars: Hunters.

As reported by MP1st, the project was codenamed Magellan, and was a "shoot & loot" ARPG in which you could play as two character archetypes — a Jedi known only as 'Cleric', or a Mandalorian warrior known as 'Triggerman'. It seems you'd also be able to play in multiplayer.

The source of this information comes from the online portfolio of a developer from the now-defunct Echtra Games; video clips and other materials show a work-in-progress Star Wars game with ARPG-like combat, loot chests, and various mission types.

The game apparently was also set to feature an NPC bond system, suggesting that you could form relationships of some kind with characters in the story.

According to the report, this game was intended to release on most major platforms, including PS5, but that obviously won't be happening now.

There are obviously a few Star Wars games heading our way soon, including Star Wars: Galactic Racer and strategy title Star Wars Zero Company, but this canned ARPG would've been a neat addition to the lineup.

There's also meant to be a remake of Knights of the Old Republic happening, and a new entry — Fate of the Old Republic — was also announced a while back. These might satiate some of that Star Wars RPG hunger, if they ever make it out.
