A leaked trailer has been floating around today, showing off footage from a secret new Marvel game named Project Comet.

Planned for PC and mobile – but likely coming to consoles as well – this is effectively a superhero version of the wildly popular Genshin Impact format, so you’ll be forming squads and completing missions in semi-open Marvel environments.

The trailer teases four-player co-op, “intense” combat, and varied superhero powers, with characters like Black Widow, Wolverine, Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, and more all teased.

I don’t think this video was supposed to be made public, so it does look very scrappy. It’ll need a lot of polish to catch up to the production values of Wuthering Waves or Zenless Zone Zero.

But I don’t entirely hate the idea – it reminds me a teensy bit of what Crystal Dynamics was trying to do with the ill-fated Marvel’s Avengers, which was designed as a live service game with new heroes planned to be added over time.

Obviously that game didn’t have the legs to realise its ambition, but there’s potential in this concept. Heck, there are no shortage of heroes or villains to pull from!

A superhero skinned clone isn’t going to cut it alone, though; love it or loathe it, the level of polish in Genshin Impact is out of this world, and it’s going to take a lot of work to match that here.

It’s an interesting idea, though. Is this something you’d try? Let me know below.
