Every now and then, it's really nice to play a game that doesn’t take itself seriously at all. At the end of the day, this medium we all love is focused on entertainment, and while a gripping narrative and meticulously developed controls are great to have, sometimes we want to play the stupidest games that developers can think of. Without even looking at the game itself, you should know that Squirrel with a Gun strives to be just that. Nothing more, nothing less.
In Squirrel with a Gun, you play as a furry little rodent as it traverses a sandbox neighbourhood and gets up to all kinds of mischief. Often, that includes fights with secret agents who take on various disguises, depending on where you find them. Getting your hands on the weaponry they hold will allow you to take advantage of that firepower, obviously, but it will add to your platforming ability, depending on the gun you have. Each weapon also has a fun takedown move, though using these finishers quickly gets old, no matter how useful they are.
While you might think that Squirrel with a Gun is wholly focused on endless gunfights, it is actually a 3D platformer in many areas. There are many instances where you will need to climb and jump your way across various platforms, often using your gun for assistance, as you complete various objectives and collect golden acorns. Using them and the normal acorns that are found all over the place, you'll unlock new areas, weapons, outfits, and even an RC car for a faster way to move around.
Squirrel with a Gun is a chaotic time that is always looking to place your rodent in the most insane positions to make them look like an action movie star. It is quite janky at times and can wear on you fast, so we don’t necessarily recommend trying to knock all of its content out at once, but for a side game that you can go to when you need a break from everything else, Squirrel with a Gun is worthy of your time.

I love weird-ass animal-based simulator games.
And here I thought the title was a metaphor
Given that you say it over-stays it's welcome... what sort of game-play time are we talking? And what sort of price. Either way, it's good to see some light-hearted gaming still out there. And nice sub-heading... a bit of a stretch, but worth it.
@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare I got the platinum for it in about 6 or 7 hours.
How does this compare with the likes of Goat Simulator?
As soon as I saw the gunplay in the gameplay trailer showing you have to pump like 10 bullets into each enemy I knew I wasnt going to play this.
Goofy ass saints row bullet sponge hell
@YoureTooSlowBro I picked it up on physical yesterday, is it a straight forward platinum, timing suggest so but just thought I would ask?
Janky does seem to be everyone's favourite word of late, can anyone explain what it specifically means though please?
Janky: "of extremely poor or unreliable quality"
@Bingbongboyo Then why can't people just say that, instead of using these stupid made up words that they think are cool.
@BeerMonsterHa, I'm not sure, but I did get the definition from the Oxford Dictionary, so it's a real word now! But maybe I'm just janky! Haha!
@Mostik Yeah, it is. You don't even have to 100 percent the game.
@BeerMonster This is your friendly reminder that all words are made up. 😊
