Released on Meta Quest VR in April 2023 to widespread acclaim, Breachers is a Rainbow Six Siege-style 5v5 tactical shooter that's now available on PSVR2. You and four teammates assume the role of either 'Enforcers' or 'Revolters'; the former team is tasked with infiltrating the location and disarming bombs, while the latter must strive to prevent this happening.
Each side has its own unique arsenal; Enforcers have items such as drones, cloaking devices, and flashbangs, while Revolters can deploy door blockers, trip mines, and proximity sensors to keep enemies at bay. In addition, you can customise your weapon loadout to suit your personal play-style, making use of elements such as larger capacity magazines and laser sights.
The many traps, abilities, and weapons available create a versatile experience, allowing for many tactical manoeuvres and countless ways for both sides to win. Of particular note is the game's realistic gunplay, which is complemented by a manual reload system — something which makes the intense combat even more suspenseful.
The multiple maps vary significantly, ensuring things remain fresh and exciting, even after hours of play, while the two play modes — 'Disarm the Bomb' and 'Control Point' (which is basically a team-based deathmatch) — further extend longevity. With the recent addition of the 'Arctic' map, PSVR2 players benefit from even more content at launch.
As mentioned, Breachers is also available on other systems, including Meta Quest 2 and PICO 4. While the core gameplay remains intact, the PSVR2 version offers a few improvements and upgrades which make it well worth a look, even if you've already played it elsewhere.
For example, it utilises the PSVR2's haptic triggers for more immersive control, while the enhanced visuals are a step up from previous versions. Crossplay is included, meaning you can play with friends on any platform – and retain your squads, should you already have a bunch of fellow players elsewhere. Finally, PSVR2 players benefit from Trophies to unlock.
The only fly in the ointment is the presence of in-app purchases in a game that costs $30, but these are purely for cosmetics and don't give you an unfair advantage over those who don't want to pay.
With engaging tactics, deep customisation, and addictive team-based gameplay, Breachers is one of the best shooters yet available for PSVR2.

Nice to see some more good games come to VR
May pick this up ..although I can't say I much liked other multiplayer vr shooters I've tried
Why do VR games have floating hands?
Don’t underestimate the haptics and trigger effects. In VR it makes a far bigger difference than it does on a normal dualsense controller.
Had it since day one on Quest. Fantastic game. Easily the best Rainbow Six clone in VR.
Sounds awesome! Is this the game Firewall Ultra should of been then.. I’m down
@Mikey856
Pretty much. Team deathmatch, manual reloads, and hopefully lobbies that actually work without you needing to leave and come back repeatedly…not that this is something I’d try. Just not my genre.
@Darude84
Because it’s, strangely, easier to ignore missing arms than arms that don’t correspond to your own movements.
Is this multiplayer only? Going to pick up a PSVR2 in the next couple of weeks but I no longer have or want PlayStation Plus.

Out of interest, this being a VR game, if I bought the cosmetics can I see them or can only other people? Can you see your body? Are there mirrors?
Looking forward to picking this one up
Excellent news, will pick this up down the line, my VR back log is getting bigger than my pancake back log!!
Best? I found this game very VERY janky feeling compared to top shooters like Pavlov (even the original which is ancient) or Contractors or a number of other shooters.
I found this game to just feel like it's missing control refinement and also just basic useability style tweaking because it's not intuitive if you go into it thinking r6 siege but visually it is also pretty mid tier as is the audio and amount of content in the game as well.
There are just way better shooters is what I'm saying here and I'm hung up on that word best you got up there.
PS5 needs more VR titles I would know I've had a psvr2 since launch and I have 2 games. On PC I have like 100 and I'd love to use my psvr2 more but not on mid tier games that I can get on PC/Quest for less money and have access to a much larger player base.
Also I can't wait for the scene to figure out how to read psvr2 controller data on PC lol. Those displays are nice, OLED+VR is god tier. They can display a stereo image on the displays but they can't read controller inputs yet and likely not for a significant amount of time... Sigh
I suppose You are one of the few with a gpu which has a virtual link ? Or can one convince a regular usb-c port to talk to a psvr2?
