@Futureshark I think Still Wakes The Deep is going to be in my personal top 5 too. Loved the atmosphere and the setting, and as a massive fan of The Thing, I was very into its whole vibe.
Absolutely heartbreaking. I still remember combing through an issue for every morsel of info on Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom. I honestly don't think I'd be at Push Square today without OPM.
@Bentleyma No difficulty options here, and if I had to put it on a difficulty scale like you say, I'd maybe give it a 6 or 7. Not saying I blasted through every boss first time, but most of the ones I had difficulty with I finished in less than 10 attempts.
There has been the odd difficulty spike here or there, but from what I've played I've not been banging my head of the wall due to its difficulty.
@Jacko11 While we still firmly believe the base game is a 10/10, this review's aim is to take the new content and features into consideration, hence the slightly lower score. We're reviewing the remaster, not the base game of The Last Of Us Part 2 in this instance.
@Madnurz Naughty Dog's games have some great accessiblity features so you are easily able to fine tune the difficulty experience to suit your playstyle, so you should be good!
@Madnurz For the review period I just stuck with Moderate, but even that was a decent challenge at times. Having played half of the campaign through on Grounded difficulty in the past, I wasn't quite ready for that level of torture!
@Fiendish-Beaver I could never do something like that now! But at the time, I had recently been gifted an Xbox 360 and was just buying any and every game I could afford, and Dead Space 2 had just happened to come out! I'm glad I got to experience the first game in this way though
I genuinely can't wait to check out these Lost Levels. It super interesting to have heard about sections like the Jackson Party in The Last Of Us Podcast, and now have it actually show up in Part 2 Remastered. Will be great to get some kind of insight into the development process and why they were ultimately cut.
@Daan6661 I have roughly 300mbps and I ran it with no issues most times. It struggled to join games in MW3 but managed Fortnite fine, and when I was over at someone else's house it lost connection when I started the download on my PS5, but otherwise ran smoothly.
I think you'd get on absolutely fine with those speeds. Sony recommends 15mbps, so by its standard you'll be more than ok with 200mbps.
@bpomber No, whatever you are doing on your Portal is happening on the PS5. They are not operating separately, you'll simply watching a streamed mirror of your PS5. So you can only do one thing at a time with it.
@thefourfoldroot1 There isn't an app with the PS Portal. You turn it on, press X to connect, press X to play once it's connected and that's it. There's no UI or home page as I mentioned, so compared to the app it is a lot more streamlined.
@Arkham24601 I'd say this feels far more synced up to the PS5. Lag and input delay are still present - but in my opinion entirely unavoidable with tech like this. I'd say moving from the Backbone One on mobile to this is a big upgrade.
@Ravix I'm sure there would be the odd thing that doesn't look quite right in close examination, but from my time with the game, everything looked pretty nice. Since you are harvesting a lot of materials in the world, there is quite a nice focus on the flora and fauna.
@Jedihillis You definitely need to have some kind of understanding of what happened in the first game. You'd obviously get more references if you played it the whole way through, but I think you'd get away with a story recap vid on YouTube.
@jmac1686 Hmmm not personally. I thought there was an really impressive level of sharp detail, especially with contrasting lights. Sometimes the live-action elements within gameplay would have a soft trail to them, but I personally didn't find the visuals to be soft.
@Sarcasmatwork The more you know about the original and Control the better I'd say. Although I reckon a YouTube story recap or two would do the trick. I'm not overly famliar with Control, having played only half the game, but watching some videos meant that I didn't feel out of the loop here.
@Americansamurai1 I have to agree with your opinions on the dialogue of the first game. Having replayed the original last week in preperation for this game, I couldn't really get on board with the writing. It's miles better here.
This is such a different level of game that if you had troubles with the first I'd watch an in-depth story recap rather than forcing yourself to play through it all. It is essential though that you are up to date on your Alan Wake and Control lore, at least to a basic degree.
I'm still reeling from my time with this game. I loved every second of it! If anyone has any questions about it I'll try my best to answer them. Thanks for reading!
@Broosh Yes there is a co-op and some kind of invade system as far as I'm aware. However, as you suspected, this wasn't available to try out during the pre-release period - at least on PS5.
@BuGGy2DaB Good question. Lies of P certainly has far better enemy designs and tighter combat, but I find Lords of the Fallen's world and Umbral mechanic a bit more intriguing. I think there will be slightly more replayability in LOTF too, so that's what I would personally go for.
@Perryg92 Yeah the Wii Fit board isn't exactly an ideal set up 😅 If I'm left with this product - sometimes PR asks for it back - I'll get a more permanent fixing, like a ceiling bracket!
@Darude84 Nah I'm a big fan of Blomkamp's work - not so much Chappie, but certainly District 9 and Elysium. I haven't seen Demonic, although I didn't hear many good things about it.
Unlike those films though, I would argue that this doesn't feel like a Blomkamp movie. The surprising factor is more that Sony picked what looked like the least adaptation worthy franchise and made it work.
@mazzel Nice catch and apologies for the mistake. I've just tried this out there and yup, it works on PC wirelessly. The Razer Kaira however, does not. Will make adjustments to the article accordingly!

Re: Hands On: The Crew Motorfest has Never Looked Better Thanks to the PS5 Pro
@DennisReynolds I'd love for Avatar to get a boost from the Pro too. Game looks incredible in the Fidelity mode on PS5.
Re: Phasmophobia (PS5) - A Hilariously Horrid Co-Op Experience
@WiiWareWave No couch co-op sadly.
Re: Video: 2025 Is Shaping Up to Be PS5's Best Year Yet
@TrannosaurusBex Funny you mention it because I cooked up a video about the latest season over on our YouTube channel just last week!

Re: Video: 2025 Is Shaping Up to Be PS5's Best Year Yet
@TrannosaurusBex I meant to say I was 16 when GTA 5 dropped, which was pretty much my first GTA, since I didn't play 4 till later down the line!
Glad to see a fellow Finals enjoyer in the comments!

Re: Lords of the Fallen PS5 Sequel Prioritising 'Elevated Production Values', More 'Commercial' Art Style
I personally really liked the look of the last game. I hope it doesn't lose too much of its grit with a more mainstream look.

Re: Still Wakes the Deep (PS5) - Scottish Oil Rig Conjures Up the Horror Magic
@NightshadeNL I actually The Rig too. Got to love a creepy Scottish oil rig setting. Supposedly season two is happening!
Re: Still Wakes the Deep (PS5) - Scottish Oil Rig Conjures Up the Horror Magic
@MysticWangForce No Irn Bru or Tunnocks, now that you mention it. Hold up while I change the review score to 0/10...

Re: Alan Wake 2 (PS5) - A Nightmare We Never Want to Wake Up From
@DragoonZied It definitely would help. but a story recap would suffice I'd say.

@viktorcode Total playtime for me was around 18 hours, with some things missed out.
Re: Alan Wake 2 (PS5) - A Nightmare We Never Want to Wake Up From
@Darude84 Outside of the initial premise of the game I've steered clear of spoilers as much as I can, but totally understand!
Regarding whether you should play the first game, yeah I would recommend that or a in-depth story recap!

@dschons I second the Sam Lake recap. I actually happened on it when I was taking a break from the game and found it really handy.
Re: Alan Wake 2 (PS5) - A Nightmare We Never Want to Wake Up From
@Chaotic_Goat I played the game on performance mode and the framerate was solid the entire time. I had no crashes, no major issues with the game.
