@CaptainRPG Avengers and Babylon's Fall weren't F2P tho? And they also sucked.
And a lot of people, myself included, like to have a game they can go back to every day or week and there be something new to do. Take any Mihoyo game like Honkai Impact 3rd, Gemshin Impact, or Honkai Star Rail. Quality games that are iterated on over the course of years.
Or Warframe. Or Fortnite. Or the many many others of F2P games that are successful.
It isn't good or bad really. Saying F2P is bad because they don't end is like saying what's the point FPS games because you can't see your guy. It makes no sense. They exist and there's a place for them, obviously, in the industry.
I guess the ending is when you stop playing it, and the cool thing about successful F2P is you can go back to it and see what's changed. I mean what's the point of a career if you're just gonna retire? Or the point of life if you're just gonna die?
The point is that you experienced what you did, what you could, and what you wanted.
@LiamCroft nice I didn't see that, but is there a walkthrough for the route after you eliminate Cinder Carla? There isn't any hotlinks embedded there, and i couldn't find a page for those missions. Maybe I'm missing something again! Thanks!
Noticed there's no guide for Chapter 5.
That...chapter...sucked. Would like like to see something on Arquebus Balteus. Awful awful boss. Horrible.
Best strategy? Double Songbird, double mini-gun and jump with the heaviest bipedal build you can. After 4 hours of testing builds on that POS boss, that's the one that works the most. He has too many projectiles that do too much damage for anything other than a heavy build...actually that's most of this game, and that really sucks.
7 is very generous, but if you guys gave it a 6 there'd be a riot, but it's a 6. After getting the Rubicon Liberator ending, a 6.
This game is either super easy, or incredibly tedious and unsatisfyingly frustrating, and if you're not using grenade launchers and miniguns with a heavy build, you getting absolutely ****ed on in at least half of the bosses.
This boss....sucks. Absolute worst in the game, even worse than the instafail stealth section. Thanks for the tip about Stun Needle. Horrible boss design right here.
@BleedingDreamer No. I was responding to a comment about how Steam Deck can handle BG3, so the Series S should be able to handle it too. But the Steam Deck runs BG3 at 720p, and that's obviously not acceptable on Series S.
@UltimateOtaku91 It isn't necessary in Genshin, or Honkai to have multiple units for late game at all.
Genshin doesn't even really have an end game aside from the Abyss which doesnt doesnt really get you too much from a full clear, and Honkai Star Rail is similar, but has a rogue-like mode on top of Abyss, and you don't need extra copies of characters either as long as you are getting the right buffs during your run, and your characters aren't underdeveloped it's very easy to get overpowered in that mode.
Plus everything scales to your level in those games, so as long as you're leveling up to match the enemy level these games are all in all, as easy as Minecraft.
Charming Goblin Camp? I guess the pit of giant spiders, the torture chamber, racks of human flesh, and hideous filthy goblins infesting every corner of a dilapidated temple to the moon Goddess Selune is charming in a way.
I think it's more charming with the lacerated, bloodied, mutilated corpses of those greasy beady eyed abominations littered everywhere. If my Urge to kill those creatures is Dark, then so be it. Only good goblin is a dead one, even the children were not spared despite how fast they were to run after I bathed in the blood of their parents. As much I hate the smell of their oily, putrid, grease they call blood...I relish in the fact that none escape my blade.
@MFTWrecks I don't think the average American gives that much every year, and if they did that would be a lot... Idk, donation shaming is kinda gouache.
BG 3 is probably the greatest CRPG ever made. The amount of freedom and depth to its gameplay is nothing short of genius. Larian outdid themselves here. Will maybe consider getting a PS5 version too to couch co-op with my GF, but maybe not. I'll just have to see, but I'll be playing BG3 on my PC for a long long time
@nessisonett or Eurojank for instance. It's a neat descriptor that could immediately tell you what it is you're about to consume.
I see both sides of it, but FFXVI was not a JRPG, which I think is part of Naoki Yoshida's argument. If you went into FFXVI expecting a JRPG you would really disappointed.
@HonestHick The thing about modern controls is that you lose have your inputs, assisted combos almost always use drive meter, and people in Gold usually only have one strategy. I'm in Diamond using Modern (I have boxing fractures in my fingers so doing those repetitive movements really really hurts), and I use my assisted combos, but I also use drive rush combos and openers. After a while I get predictable even if I'm using everything because of how limited my buttons are, but because of my game sense and fundamentals it's better for me to use modern than classic.
I play against a modern players very slowly. Do not jump, you will get anti aired most of the time, it's a good rule to just not jump a lot in general. You want to wear their drive gauge out so they don't have access to their assisted combos into special moves. I'd start using Blanka-Chan and Blanka's super level 2 more as that drains drive gauge a lot!
@HonestHick No worries. I struggle against Guile a lot too haha. Flash kick is so annoying, but once you figure out that he's just throwing fireballs to get you to jump, that stupid move becomes his weakness.
@HonestHick I'm a Diamond 1 Juri main, and what I found that works well against Guile is to shimmy. Walk (don't dash) and parry or block his fireball, and then when you think he's about to flash kick just step back so he whiffs. Get him into the corner and put the pressure on him, just watch out for wake up flash kick. Guile is SUPER lame, so you have to bait out his flash kick.
If you're playing Blanka, I'd try and use Blanka Chan to to put a little pressure on him. You can also do that move where Blanka switches to the other side of the opponent, and just use your crouching jab to try to bait a Drive Impact.
I love this game. I have enjoyed SloClap's work since Absolver, but Sifu has made me a fan. Can't wait to play more Arena, and can't wait to see what this studio does next.
Art style looks...admittedly, very generic. Not many dynamic looking animations, and there looks to be no facial rigging on the character models at all which is slightly off-putting, but the fidelity of the graphics looks nice, and there are some very interesting ideas being shown. Looks like cross a between XCOM and Fire Emblem.
I think I might just pick it up on Steam to be honest, after watching some more gameplay...if I'm not stuck into Baldur's Gate 3.
Was absolutely loving it until that final boss. After beating that, and the splitting headache from the Virtual Boy looking arena, and the 10 FPS ending cutscene, it kinda killed it for me.
I would definitely recommend this game even in its censored state on Playstation, but if you care about getting the original experience PC is definitely the way to go.
@Northern_munkey I don't know if it's entirely fair to blame Blizzard, but I know for a fact that ABK intentionally designs their upsell front end so that you cannot ignore it, and that it's harder to decline buying content than it is to accept buying it, and that if you have any free tokens for anything in the game they are designed with the intention to NEVER allow the user to consider the commitment by way of something like a "Are you sure?" message.
I have a career QA testing games. Upsell front end is always always ALWAYS the highest priority. They will even hire outside help from other industries to help design a front-end that "fosters player engagement". It's optional, true, and as a player you can't fully abdicate responsibility for your actions, but its blatantly apparent how manipulative it is, and if you follow the industry, or work in it, it's very apparent that it is 100 percent intended to be this way.
@Northern_munkey To be absolutely fair...you really shouldn't have to be vigilant in your own home, on your couch, while you're winding down after a long day. I don't think it's at all unreasonable to expect to be able to wind down in your own home, but maybe I'm just too old, and remember that from a bygone era, I don't know.
@DennisReynolds The minimum PC spec requirements are not as powerful as what is in a PS5. A GTX 960 is over 8 years old at this point, and was a low-midrange card then.... PS5 is capable of raytracing, a PC with that card is not.
It's not making up the power anywhere with those specs, the game will just have a bunch of loading screens at around 30 FPS, and it will suck. Gaming on a PC with a 960 nowadays is beyond a budget build. Those cards kinda suck.
Ratchet and Clank didn't have "seamless" transitions to completely different worlds, it had very fast loading screens hidden in cutscenes, and other techniques to hide the loading times. It'll be very apparent once the game is running on a minimum spec machine where all the loading is, and it won't be a very good experience. The specs say "minimum", but that's bare minimum.
@nessisonett If you liked this game you might like the Fear and Hunger games. They are probably the cruelest, most brutal games I've ever played and I loved every second of it. Can't recommend those two games enough.
If you like subversive genre bending games like Lisa, then I'm sure F&R is up your alley.
Got the year one character pass, so I'll definitely try and learn him. I've put a lot, a LOT of time into SFVI. So much so, that I've been neglecting other games.
@Mio_Nakashima Skill issue. You literally only need to type in "Lisa game" to get pages and pages of results from store pages to community pages about both games. Lisa: the Painful and Lisa: The Joyful, the first is 20 dollars and the second is 10.
So you may want to work on your Google skills buddy.
If this game is getting hit with the censorship stick, I don't even want to see a future where Fear and Hunger, and Fear and Hunger: Termina get console releases lol
@KaijuKaiser No, nothing like that. There's a lot of subject matter that's very mature though dealing with every conceivable kind of abuse from substance to SA. I don't really remember the two racist parts too well...partly because the world is so bleak that things like that don't even really stand out.
@Mio_Nakashima @StrawberryTurtle Game didn't have any trouble selling itself or getting fans almost a decade ago on PC after being made by only one person... It's widely regarded as a great game akin to Undertale in the RPG community, and just because you haven't heard of it doesn't mean it isn't. A quick Google search is all it takes.
ABK and Microsoft would LOSE so much money if they didn't release the heavy hitters on Playstation. Call of Duty especially. I don't expect Call of Duty to be an Xbox exclusive ever, due to the amount of money it generates, the plans for the franchise to become a platform in and of itself, and the low insthall base of Xbox and PC when compared to Sony consoles; Playstation CoD users are more numerous than both combined. The prospect of buying an Xbox for Call of Duty also doesn't really make sense, especially if the consumer already has a PS4 or PS5. Enthusiasts who own a PS4 or PS5 will just play on PC or buy or build a PC if they want to play CoD bad enough, and casual CoD players will not know that CoD is exclusive which will lead to frustration.
Not to mention ABK's Call of Duty mobile games...as of now ABK is employing a scattershot approach in terms of getting CoD into as many hands as possible, but if you take a huge platform like PS out of the mix, the likelihood of mobile platforms overshadowing and cannibalizing less established platforms grows.
Emerging franchises are a different story. ABK is massive, with multiple devs all working on CoD. Some of these studios can be pivoted to other emerging franchises that could be exclusive to PC and Xbox.
And also...don't forget about Battle.net as well. It's going to be interesting to see what happens with that. I honestly don't expect much to change this gen, and I don't expect much to change next gen either. Expect the next 3 CoD games for sure on PS.
@Cashews automated warfare spares human lives on the side that is using automated weapons, which would quite literally benefit that side, an automated weapons industry would also benefit the economy of the side that is utilizing those weapons.
It's a detriment depending on perspective, but as I have said, AI is a tool, and thus either detrimental or beneficial but not inherently one or the other.
And I've already named several benefits you can use right now. Better performance AND better visuals in video games is the holy grail of features.
I also have an app that uses AI to filter and screen spam calls... It gives me a lot of peace of mind.
@NEStalgia If you had slaves that could work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with minimal need for maintenance, and every sector of industry was using it the economy would flourish under capitalism. More money made, more taxes collected, more budget for social programs, less jobs sure, but more money overall. Countries everywhere are experimenting with forms of universal basic income, and even in the states stimulus checks were a real thing, this AI "slave force" has no need for money or comfort. With AI tackling the more mundane things, human beings can tackle things that actually will matter in a highly efficient capitalist society like people that are attempting to cheat the system.
For every doomsday scenario, there's an optimistic one. I merely provided context to the debate. There are good things AI can accomplish, especially in the video game industry... Nvidia is so ahead right now in terms of technology, and it's because of their investment in AI.
Also...socialism and communism are two seperate things, and many many men, women, and children died due to democracy, capitalism, and any other form of government. Imperfect solutions get innovated and itterated upon, you shouldn't throw the baby out with the bath water so to speak.
@Cashews @NEStalgia AI is a tool, it can be good or bad.
If you have the licenses for the things you're using, you can use it to automate, simulate, and even create and recreate assets that are very repetitive for programmers, designers, and even QA testers and writers.
Ray Tracing is a good example of AI technology done right. DLSS is another, along with AI enabled performance modes that can actually simulate the frames that might be missing in moving images when using more performance draining features like the above mentioned Ray Tracing, resulting in drastically higher frame rates. I'm running 4070TI in my rig, and can run Cyberpunk at 90FPS, Psycho mode, with Path Tracing (basically Ray Tracing on steroids) thanks to DLSS made possible by AI, and it looks amazing.
It's getting better and better exponentially fast. You can look up what Nvidia is doing with RTX Remix to see just the surface of what is to come when utilizing AI, and if you don't want to look it up, basically, RTX Remix is a way to use AI to add better lighting, textures, and physics to aging software like Morrowind.
More regulation will come, when more and more people decide they want to sue third parties for using their likenesses, their art, assets, code, any IP basically. Unfortunately, that starts with suing smaller parties and companies to set a precedent, and than going after larger organizations once that precedent is set, because then it will open up larger organizations to seeking recompense for damages from other larger companies.
@ApostateMage Ah the Skill-Up method of critiquing a game. Just straight up being disingenuous to the point you're basically lying because you made your mind up before even playing the game.
Don't care. Don't use social media. If I want to talk to someone I'll do it in person, over the phone, or via text message; I don't talk to many people and that's just fine by me.
Motion blur is such a useless post processing feature in games. A performance hit, just so it looks like Vaseline is smudged over your screen while you move... Incredible.
@AndyKazama What other games do you like? It's not like Fortnite or PUBG, but is a BR. It's similar to Devil May Cry and a lot of contemporary fighting games with a dose of "hero shooter".
It also isn't strictly a BR. There's a death match mode, and PVE mode that opens on the weekend, so there's that.
It's a really high quality game, but the skill floor is a little high, so it takes a bit to learn how to play. Luckily, the matchmaker in BR will fill your lobbies with bots at first so you can get acclimated to the game.
I already have 150 hours in this game, and 5 characters in Platinum, and have coins from the last BP, so I'm looking forward to maxing out the new BP in a few days like the last one. lol
If only there was a way to experience the lore and story in the game, with the characters, and you could play hundreds of missions with talent trees and stuff... If only.
This game started as a massive disappointment and has turned into one of my favorite games. The launch was bad, I was there on PS4 Pro, and the game was definitely unplayable. Unstable frame rates, a buggy melee system, fatal errors, significant issues with core functionality like driving and even saving... It was a disaster. On PC it was a different story, it at least worked a lot better than on console, and that's probably why it got good reviews at first. CD Projeckt only gave PC review codes out pre-launch.
Is this game like...a choose your own adventure narrative game, or hide and seek horror game? I'm really confused about what exactly it is. I watched the IGN video where it "explains" it, and the dev cites all these inspirations like Detroit, The Quarry, Dead Space, and Moon, and the gameplay they showed was...Jack looking at his arm tablet thing, dodging crates, and opening doors...
This doesn't look I'd have any fun, but it looks really pretty. Combat free, exploration and isolation, and puzzles... Yeah. Probably not a game for me. But it looks like people that liked Deliver Us The Moon and Deliver Us Mars will probably like this. I didn't like either of those games tho.
@GeneJacket Have you seen Welcome To Racoon City? She was in that and played the same character and she was bad there as well; the only saving grace was that everyone in that movie was bad.
Don't care. I buy digital anyway. I'm not gonna lose access to those games if I can download and emulate them elsewhere, or archive the game. It's more convenient for me having digital. I'd have 1000's of games, or I would have traded a lot to Gamestop (which sucks, I'm glad I can't do that anymore, as I like to go back to older games here and there).
You gotta adapt or die. Gaming is a tech hobby and it's constantly evolving. That's one of the reasons I love it.

Unless you're saying that Steam Deck is 1080p or 1440p which is an outright lie.
Re: Baldur's Gate 3's Accidental PS5 Console Exclusivity Truncated as Xbox Backtracks
@Al3 It handles it at the screen resolution of the Steam Deck though. Which is akin to 720P, and UP TO 60FPS.
720p is not acceptable on a Series S is it?

@Mio_Nakashima Skill issue. You literally only need to type in "Lisa game" to get pages and pages of results from store pages to community pages about both games. Lisa: the Painful and Lisa: The Joyful, the first is 20 dollars and the second is 10.
So you may want to work on your Google skills buddy.
Re: LISA: Definitive Edition Removes and Changes Content to Release on PS5, PS4
If this game is getting hit with the censorship stick, I don't even want to see a future where Fear and Hunger, and Fear and Hunger: Termina get console releases lol
Re: LISA: Definitive Edition Removes and Changes Content to Release on PS5, PS4
@KaijuKaiser No, nothing like that. There's a lot of subject matter that's very mature though dealing with every conceivable kind of abuse from substance to SA. I don't really remember the two racist parts too well...partly because the world is so bleak that things like that don't even really stand out.
Re: LISA: Definitive Edition Removes and Changes Content to Release on PS5, PS4
@Mio_Nakashima @StrawberryTurtle Game didn't have any trouble selling itself or getting fans almost a decade ago on PC after being made by only one person... It's widely regarded as a great game akin to Undertale in the RPG community, and just because you haven't heard of it doesn't mean it isn't. A quick Google search is all it takes.
Re: Reaction: What Happens to PlayStation if Microsoft Buys Activision Blizzard?
Re: AI-Generated Audio Row Leads to Persona 5 Voice Actor Deleting Twitter Account
Re: AI-Generated Audio Row Leads to Persona 5 Voice Actor Deleting Twitter Account
Re: AI-Generated Audio Row Leads to Persona 5 Voice Actor Deleting Twitter Account
Re: Japanese Final Fantasy 16 Sales Plummet by 90% in Second Week
@ApostateMage Ah the Skill-Up method of critiquing a game. Just straight up being disingenuous to the point you're basically lying because you made your mind up before even playing the game.
Classic.
Re: PlayStation and Other Gaming Titans Flock to Twitter Rival Threads
Don't care. Don't use social media. If I want to talk to someone I'll do it in person, over the phone, or via text message; I don't talk to many people and that's just fine by me.
Re: Final Fantasy 16 PS5 Update 1.03 Out Now, Get All the Patch Notes Here
Motion blur is such a useless post processing feature in games. A performance hit, just so it looks like Vaseline is smudged over your screen while you move... Incredible.
Glad you can turn it off.
Re: Mythical Melee Battle Royale Naraka: Bladepoint Slices PS5, PS4 for Free
@AndyKazama What other games do you like? It's not like Fortnite or PUBG, but is a BR. It's similar to Devil May Cry and a lot of contemporary fighting games with a dose of "hero shooter".
It also isn't strictly a BR. There's a death match mode, and PVE mode that opens on the weekend, so there's that.
It's a really high quality game, but the skill floor is a little high, so it takes a bit to learn how to play. Luckily, the matchmaker in BR will fill your lobbies with bots at first so you can get acclimated to the game.
Re: Street Fighter 6's New PS5, PS4 Battle Pass Paves the Way for Rashid
I already have 150 hours in this game, and 5 characters in Platinum, and have coins from the last BP, so I'm looking forward to maxing out the new BP in a few days like the last one. lol
Re: Overwatch Animated Mini-Series Genesis Incoming, Begins 6th July on YouTube
If only there was a way to experience the lore and story in the game, with the characters, and you could play hundreds of missions with talent trees and stuff... If only.
This game and its story is dead to me.
Re: Front Mission 1st: Remake Remains True to Original in Tactical PS5, PS4 Gameplay
Ohh, this looks right up my alley!
Re: CD Projekt Exec Suggests Cyberpunk 2077 Launch Not That Bad, Actually, Dunking 'Became a Cool Thing'
Re: Troy Baker, Roger Clark Joint Fort Solis Scares Up 22nd August Release on PS5
Re: New Resident Evil 4 PC Achievements Indicate More Content Is on the Way
@GeneJacket Have you seen Welcome To Racoon City? She was in that and played the same character and she was bad there as well; the only saving grace was that everyone in that movie was bad.
Not so in RE4R.
Re: Dead Island 2 a Bone-afide Hit, Roadmap Details Two Story Expansions on PS5, PS4
Aside from the garbage ending, this game was an absolute blast.
Re: Sorry Physical Fans! The New Like a Dragon May Be Digital Only on PS5, PS4
