I dunno. I kinda get it. The artstyle just looks like Fortnite, you don't play as the Prince you are rescuing him, the music in the trailer sucks, it's a 2D game while also looking like Fortnite rather than a 3D action platformer like what most people remember (let's not be disingenuous, most people did not play the original and archiac Prince of Persia where you only progress through trial and error), and not to mention Ubisoft's output over the years and just the mediocrity of the products they are putting out in general. Yeah I get it.
Doesn't look bad imo, but it doesn't look like my kind of game. And if you're gonna have hip-hop in your music, then have a banger like Street Fighter did. I'm not a fan of modern hip-hop at all, but the music in the game and in the trailers were all jams.
This is another 10/10 from Capcom for me this year. Street Fighter VI totally met all of expectations and then some, and if any game can get me to finally learn and invest in a fighting game it is this one.
I have almost 100 percented World Tour, and I'm climbing my way to Gold in Ranked. I'm having an incredible time.
I really hope Exoprimal succeeds. It's a very fun game, and it is very unique. I know a lot of people give this game crap, but it is far from a bad game. The beta was very good, and if they have a more variety of content to play, and if they have post release content in the pipeline and locked in for consistent release, then I think they can keep a respectable player base.
It's on Gamepass, but I think I'll just buy the game on PS5 tbh
I'm excited for any Capcom news. They've been putting out hit after hit, and I don't want their momentum to slow down.
Well deserved. I'm never been more engaged and enthralled by a fighting game than by Street Fighter 6. What a winner!
World Tour is absolutely amazing, and the Battle Hub is genius. This is how you do a live service game right here, make an amazing game and keep it going with events and new content.
I remember playing Blood Curse as a teen. I had to steal my neighbor's WiFi to get the thing downloaded, and it took a week. It was worth it, and playing through that game is one of my fondest memories of the PS3.
I never pre-order until a 2 - 5 days before the game release. It's easier to budget for, and there's no point in pre-ordering months in advance, unless it's a collector's edition but they sell out instantly sell out anyway.
@AFCC You can't test things like this. When you test on a platform you are put in a "sandbox" that the publisher leases from the platform owner, it puts you in an isolated QA/Dev environment. It is 100 percent Sony's fault, there is no way to test this in a retail environment in the sandbox, as retail QA testers only get access to the retail environment when...you know...the game is at retail. Then you can test for licensing issues once you've got access like everyone else.
@Yayoi_KISARAGI It would be wired, and only the Project Q person would feel the latency due to streaming the game from their PS5.
@CutchuSlow and then imagine using that wired to wifi extender connected to a hotspot while streaming from Project Q.
That seems like the way to go tbh. lol
@Jtheripper I wish I would have gotten more of a feel for the combat and survival horror elements. I dunno...coming off games like Resident Evil 4 and Fear and Hunger, a horror game needs all three for me. Combat, survival, and horror.
@UltimateOtaku91 There are buff and debuff moves, but only certain characters use them, and even then you have on-field techniques that will provide a buff or a debuff to enemies, and most characters have them. The game is very easy at first, but then it starts to ramp up as you progress.
There aren't healing items in combat, but there are healing items, and you really don't need them in combat if you use them outside of it.
The strategy of Honkai is putting together teams that synergize well with each other, and you get a lot of characters for free too.
Once you get into Simulated Universe the depth begins to creep in.
@UltimateOtaku91 It's just because it isn't out yet on PlayStation, and this is a PlayStation centric site, and there's no new info.
Says more about the article than the game.
And the story and combat are great. Story is leagues better than Genshin once it gets going. The Aeons offer so much more story potential than the Archons do in Genshin, and once you get the final battle with Cocolia on Belebog (which is just the beginning of the story) the story picks up tremendously.
Game is amazing. Especially the Simulated Universe where a lot strategy comes into play. Can't wait to play on PS5, I mean it's up in there, but it surely won't be vaporware? Right?
@thefourfoldroot1 You make your own character from scratch, and can completely customize your character with gear that affects your stats, and appears on your character cosmetically. You can also, customize your special moves, set styles from the masters you meet and learn from, and play online against other people's customized characters in the Battle Hub.
@Stealthieone You must have a pretty short memory, a lot of people dog on pretty much everything Marvel for the dialogue writing, Saints Row was dogged on pretty hard for the writing, Borderlands 3 (Borderlands in general tbh), Tales of the Borderlands (truly...ABYSMAL), Destiny (Remember lines like "I don't have time to explain why I don't have time to explain?"), there's a couple new games every year that have really cringe inducing writing.
It's got nothing to do with Frey being black, got nothing to do with the actress that portrays her, but everything to do with the writers that wrote the dialogue for the character... Can you point to people specifically saying that it's because of the actress? Because all I've seen in regard to criticism, is the dialogue writing for Frey and the Cuff character. Which is, again, the fault of the writers.
That trailer was awesome, but I'm gonna commit myself to Street Fighter VI this year. Fighting games are like learning a language, and I can only do one at a time.
PS2. PS2 is definitely my favorite. PS1 is a close second for me, but I gotta go with PS2. Nothing beats having to scramble in the middle of the night to turn the volume down when booting up the PS2 for a quick match of WWE Smackdown VS Raw; that's why I would always plug underneath my door with a towel.
Beat this game over the weekend, and it'd be near perfect with only nitpicking gripes, if not for the performance. I played through the whole game with screen tearing and FSR all bugged out. Game looked like hot garbage for a lot of it, but despite that I loved it.
The performance put things from a 10/10 to an 8/10 for me. Performance absolutely sucked from start to finish, but it was also one of the best video games I've played this year and the best Star Wars game I've played.
@Cherip-the-Ripper he was saying ingredients for tacos in Europe would cost 5 bucks in some other thread, and I had to stop what I was doing and find out if it's true.
@LiamCroft People don't need to sell their PS5's to go to Xbox, if there are great games on Xbox the incentive is there to buy an Xbox without selling your PS5.
But right now, seeing as how almost every game on Xbox is on PC, there really isn't an incentive to buy an Xbox at all. You can play on PC or even stream games. The failure of Xbox doesn't have everything to do with not having any great games, but it's substantial. You want great games to keep people in your ecosystem! That's a big reason why Sony is winning the generation, more time spent on the platform, is more opportunity for the user to spend on that platform.
It's why big games like Fortnite and Call of Duty, are being converted into not just a big game, but a platform that keeps the player engaged, so that they spend money.
I just got to the Raider fort, and it's unplayable. Like actually unplayable in performance mode. Textures aren't loading in, some areas are completely culled, the framerate chokes and stutters into what looks like the single digits, the screen tearing and dynamic resolution bugs make seeing anything or parrying almost impossible.
Survivor performs much much worse than Fallen Order in my experience. The performance is unacceptable. It's broken.
Quality seems like the way to go, it's stable. Definitely not ideal. I'm just going back to Honkai Star Rail while a patch for this game releases.
@LifeGirl I'm pretty sure Abby took steroids (I mean they shovel pills in their mouths to learn skills, so I don't think it's a stretch, but probably just my headcannon trying to find logic.), and she didn't subsist off scraps during her time with the WLF. They had a lot of food for a lot of people.
@KaijuKaiser Not even just for PC. On PS5 I'm getting FPS drops, screen tearing, and blurry and fuzzy visuals. It's like I'm trying to play through YouTube compression.
@VanguardKaiser I know Genshin has cross progression; just make sure to make a Hoyoverse account and link it to your Playstation account BEFORE you start the game on PS4/5.
@KidRyan They will releases that are PS5/XSX/S only, but their tentpole releases, will continue to have PS4/XB3 versions. I don't believe they will drop support completely. They'll just do a cross-gen bundle scheme.
But a lot of work is still being done for big releases on last gen hardware, as far ahead as late 2024 at least.
I think there's a lot of player expectations, but there are also a lot of studio and publisher expectations as well, and one of the things that temper the players' expectations is marketing which falls under studio and publisher expectations. Raising hype for your project is all well and good, and is amazing when it delivers, but that definitely raises the expectations of your audience.
I think the best marketing approach being taken right now is from Capcom. They show their game, they release a demo, they release their game, and their games are pretty high quality. You know what to expect, and because of the RE Engine it will feel and look really familiar too, which is incredible for your brand. Capcom is succeeding with the RE Engine where EA failed with the Frostbite engine. It's an incredible achievement, and they put the work in, and that shows.
Charge 70 dollars. You must deliver. People will remember a failure like Forspoken, and you only get a couple shots. You have to make it worth it, and that doesn't mean more content. It means more quality overall in the context of that content. A good lean 30 hr experience that can be replayed, is WAY better than a banal and tedious 60 - 80hr+ dumpster fire of a game.
Gamers will play the game over again after seeing 70 - 80 percent of your game if it means they can see 90 on the next playthrough. It makes the game more memorable, it keeps people talking about it, it makes a better experience. Don't try to up your last project if it's not a sequel, just give that project its own identity so that, we, gamers can remember it.
This game is going to be fantastic. World Tour seems like just what they need to pull in players that don't really like fighting games, along with the party game modes as well. I'm seriously mediocre at fighting games, but I love them, and it seems in SFVI I can still be mediocre, but not feel like I'm not really in control of my character half of the time due to complicated inputs. I really enjoyed playing with the modern controls, I'm glad Capcom is supporting that control scheme for competitive play too. It really helps simplify the game for newbies and casual without sacrificing a lot of the depth for veterans I think, and lets the newer players dip their toes into ranked play.
Fighting games are REALLY niche. Learning a fighting game is almost like learning a second language, and some tools to help the player learn goes a long way, along with features and modes that will appeal to people that don't like fighters.
@Toypop Yeah that's not how supply and demand works buddy. Not to mention slashing prices over time sends a clear signal to consumers that the product wasn't selling at the initial price point, and that leads to further loss of sales. Selling a PS5 for "what the market is willing to pay" (more like what some desperate fools will feel like they're forced to pay) will only make others go to the competitors. Like Xbox. Look at the PS3 and its ridiculous price at launch.
Scalpers only made it more difficult to get a PS5, and Xbox SX at a reasonable price. They deserve every cent that they lost pulling this BS during a pandemic at that.
@somnambulance It's too different. They're pretty difficult, and a core part of the game is building your mech, so if you don't invest time into understand that mechanic you're going to have a harder time.
But I have no idea how VI will compare to the previous entries. Could be harder, could be easier.
@Northern_munkey It's hard to say. I think if you go into it expecting Elden Ring or Dark Souls it might be jarring to get used to. We know that there will be elements from Souls, but to the extent, we don't really know.
Armored Core is like Need For Speed, but instead of racing cars, you are a mercenary mech suit pilot. You do missions, you get money, you upgrade your Core. The upgrades and customization...are extensive, and practically everything you slap on your mech will be visually represented on it. I think that's the fundamentals of Armored Core.
Personally, I don't think there's any chance that I'll dislike this game at all. I'm sure I'll love it. But I've played and enjoyed the previous Armored Core games.
I think a litmus test for you is: do you enjoy Sekiro? Because I think ACVI is going to be similar to Souls, but it it'll have much more of its own identity similar to Sekiro than Elden Ring.
Played the beta, and it's surprisingly fun. Like really fun. It's like EDF with dinosaurs crossed with Overwatch. It's so weird, but it works. Looking forward to getting a squad up for this. I hope it does well.
When I first saw footage I thought it looked like absolute garbage, but it's not. It's pretty good actually.
@REALAIS The thing about P2W though, is that if you're on an even playing field, skill wise, and someone has got the UAV bundle, or they even just had level 2 armor and you got unlucky that deployment and only have level one armor, the odds of your winning the engagement against them is significantly lower than if they didn't have that bundle. They have an advantage that they paid for essentially.
If you come across a player that is also very skilled (you will thanks to SBMM) and they have that bundle they have the advantage, an advantage they paid for, and one that you might consider buying if you died to that player. And thanks to how operator slots work, you will be able to tell instantly that they have that paid advantage due to the cosmetic associated with the said advantage. It's subtle manipulation.
It can still change, sure, but this is ABK we are talking about. The company that released Diablo Immortal without any moral qualms. I wouldn't expect it to change.
@REALAIS Those bonuses (UAV, backpack, armor) aren't wiped out after every deployment. If the slot is free it will be automatically equipped to it like you had it, because you essentially have an infinite amount of those items. Make sense?
The UAV in particular is pretty egregious, because you can easily find another squad close to you at the start of Ashika Island which has some of the WORST extraction game spawns ever.
It is blatantly P2W for the UAV alone. That is pretty ridiculous to have at the start of a deployment. That shouldn't be allowed.
Of course you'd know this if you actually knew what you were talking about.
@MrMeeeseeeks I wouldn't be surprised, I haven't seen any harassment that specifically says that she shouldn't play Ada because of her race or anything like that, but I'm not terminally online, so I don't know.
@Ken_Kaniff I would say the reception to her performance is mixed.
In my opinion, I think it's subpar. Kinda flat, with little to no charisma, or flair, and it stands out. Her performance is grating, it doesn't match the tone of the game or what the other actors brought to the game.
I would definitely play the game or watch some cutscenes to form your own opinion though.

Fighting games are REALLY niche. Learning a fighting game is almost like learning a second language, and some tools to help the player learn goes a long way, along with features and modes that will appeal to people that don't like fighters.
Can't wait to dive into World Tour on June 2nd.
Re: Gallery: Is Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores the Best Looking Game Ever?
I really wish I liked this game as much as many of you on this site. I just can't get it to click for me, and end up really bored.
HFW is absolutely stunning though. Probably the best looking game on PS5, if not damn near close.
Re: Scalped PS5 Prices Plummet as Retail Stock Surges
What a load!
Re: Armored Core 6 Key Art Emerges, Anticipation for Elden Ring Studio's Next Game Grows
@somnambulance It's too different. They're pretty difficult, and a core part of the game is building your mech, so if you don't invest time into understand that mechanic you're going to have a harder time.
But I have no idea how VI will compare to the previous entries. Could be harder, could be easier.
Re: Armored Core 6 Key Art Emerges, Anticipation for Elden Ring Studio's Next Game Grows
Re: Odd PS5, PS4 Dino Shooter Exoprimal Will Collaborate with Other Capcom Games
Re: Call of Duty Warzone 2 Players are Calling Season 3 DMZ Bundle 'Pay-to-Win'
Re: Call of Duty Warzone 2 Players are Calling Season 3 DMZ Bundle 'Pay-to-Win'
@REALAIS It's a season 3.5 bundle, so expect to see it around May give or take a couple weeks.
I highly doubt they change it before launch, but they probably will when the next season starts depending on sales analytics.
Re: Call of Duty Warzone 2 Players are Calling Season 3 DMZ Bundle 'Pay-to-Win'

Re: Resident Evil 4's Ada Wong Responds to Social Media Abuse
@MrMeeeseeeks I wouldn't be surprised, I haven't seen any harassment that specifically says that she shouldn't play Ada because of her race or anything like that, but I'm not terminally online, so I don't know.
All I know is harassment is bad.
Re: Resident Evil 4's Ada Wong Responds to Social Media Abuse
@Ken_Kaniff I would say the reception to her performance is mixed.
In my opinion, I think it's subpar. Kinda flat, with little to no charisma, or flair, and it stands out. Her performance is grating, it doesn't match the tone of the game or what the other actors brought to the game.
I would definitely play the game or watch some cutscenes to form your own opinion though.
