I think the most complimentary thing I can say about her performance is that she didn't ruin the game like the harrassers are saying. Did I like her performance? Not really, I thought it was really wooden, lacked charisma, and stood out amongst really good performances for being sort of subpar. I think she can do better, and there were glimpses of a good representative of Ada in some of her lines.
I don't really have anything to say about her response. I don't care about authentic casting, I care about authentic portrayals, and she didn't quite reach that mark. Like other people have said before me you're meant to be an actor, you're not portraying yourself, you're portraying another person, and other people aren't just their ethnicity or race.
It goes without saying, harassment, death threats, those kinds of things are just bad. That's not good. Don't do that. It's pathetic, and I don't condone it. It falls on deaf ears though, so...I don't know. I don't know why people even enjoy engaging with the huge social media sites.
@Cutmastavictory The top tier version of the Steam Deck, I would say it's comparable to somewhere in between a base PS4 and PS4 Pro, closer to a base PS4, but with an NVME SSD that makes games load a lot faster.
I would not have thought to have just randomly take out a knife and start stabbing or slashing at nothing after getting that key item. Really specific bug right there.
Doesn't detract from my experience, and it's still my GOTY so far for sure. Love this game.
Maaan...can't people just have their opinions without going right to the person and harassing them? They don't need to hear that. They don't deserve any of that, just leave people alone.
She wasn't terrible, it's just that she wasn't good. Hopefully she does better in the DLC (if she even still wants to voice Ada), she didn't ruin the game, it's still a masterpiece. God, social media just sucks. I see a poster on here saying they don't like TLOU because it displays the worst of humanity, which is cool and respect to that, but you wanna see a close second to the worst we have to offer? Social media. Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, whatever, you will easily find the most degenerate people.
Decent, but not really anything for me. Like most months. Maybe someday I can just pay for online, but maybe next year I'll just be a full PC gamer. Sony's services are a really bad value for me.
@ErrantRob The game doesn't really tell you you can do that yeah, so I never blocked. Why just block damage when I can learn a system to help me punish the enemies? That was my thought process.
Lu Bu has a couple strings with tight parry timing, they come out really fast. Turns out. You can block and deflect while he's doing that. I'm glad I learned that then, because I'd have never learned that otherwise.
@ErrantRob I finished Wanted Dead on Hard. I unfortunately bought it at launch. That game just sucks. It's a poorly optimized, buggy, deeply flawed, sorry excuse for a game with pointless fluff content like its' pointless minigames.
There are times where the game feels like it can fun, like when fighting large groups of melee enemies, but most of the time you're fighting against an erratic camera, some of the worst third person shooting controls ever made, and checkpoints so bad it's clear they're only designed that way to hide the game's length. Which is not 12 hours like the studio said, the liars, but more like 4 - 5.
Some people don't like learning hard games you're right, but some devs have no idea how to make a hard game. Like Soliel.
I bought a PSVR 1 headset, aaaaaaand never really used it. Everything was fuzzy, the headset was really uncomfortable with my glasses, and it was a nightmare to set up when wanting to use HDR.
This headset seems better, but none of my games are backwards compatible. I'm not gonna support that kind of practice, and of I ever do decide to give VR another shot it'll be a PC headset, but I really don't think VR is for me. The people that continuously try and shill it are honestly pretty cringe too, it's interacting with a crypto-bro. I guess I just don't get the technology and I'm mentally deficient, but I'll stick to my TV games.
VR is pretty niche, and enthusiasts who can afford VR anyways...well why not go with a PC option? Most, if not all of your games will work anyway. It can go either way, but I don't think VR2 will be a success. There's a lot of competition for very small market share.
@Porco Naughty Dog worked on the port as well. It wasn't just Iron Galaxy or Sony. ND did extensive work on it after Iron Galaxy, and even still, The Last of Us Part 1 was released in a broken state.
It's stated in very many sources that both studios worked as a team to port the game, and Sony released it, so ND is as to blame as any party. But people obviously expect more from Naughty Dog.
Some humble-pie for Naughty Dog. Let's hope they learn from this failure, and fix this port as soon as possible. I'm sure they will, they're a talented bunch.
Finished a second playthrough, and I think this version is the best version of RE4. The remake is in a league of its own, and somehow better than the original in almost every respect.
For me, it's as close to gaming perfection as you can get.
@Phornix Yeah I disagree on the comparision. Because at that point you're just making Halo harder for yourself rather than playing on Heroic, the intended way the devs want you play the game which is much easier than any Soulslike by default.
With a soulslike, for the most part, you are forced to adapt to the game's difficulty. In an FPS you don't have to, and can turn the difficulty down. That's what makes souls like games harder, you have to adapt.
And even with an overpowered build, there are times where you will still struggle, like fighting Ornstein and Smough, fighting Nameless King, Orphan of Kos, Malenia, Sword Saint Isshin. It's not enough to learn the mechanics to be successful, when there are encounters that test how well you learn them, and that's certainly not easy at all.
With that same logic, you could do a challenge run in a soulslike, and it'd be harder than any FPS on their hardest difficulty. The reason why soulslikes are hard, is because you can't weasle your way out of the challenge. You have to learn how to play.
@ErrantRob I totally decimated the clone boss. I played VERY aggressively with really only Fire magic until Lu Bu, and I had to rethink my entire playstyle, and approach it more like a duel. After Lu Bu, I started playing in a more balanced way, and it was more satisfying. Even fighting him again in his demon form was really nothing compared to fighting him the first time.
But once I beat him the first time, the muscle memory kicks in, and I can take him no problem on NGplus. I think the main thing that made it so difficult for me is I didn't block.
You have to block lmao. Deflecting while blocking makes that fight a lot easier, and I just didn't do that. I didn't realize you could deflect while blocking in that fight, but once I did, when he does his big combo off of his horse, I was able to negate any damage, and still have spirit left over to punish him.
Lu Bu is waaay harder than this guy, I wasn't stuck on the first boss at all. I was stuck on Lu for a good 2 hours, but after that I STEAMROLLED everything in the game. If you haven't been mastering the deflect and haven't been utilizing your magic effectively, then Lu Bu will teach you a thing or two lmao
Love Wo Long. I think it's a little underapreciated. I enjoyed it more than Nioh, and am even continuing to play. Great game. It's definitely very easy compared to almost every other Souls game once you learn the mechanics.
It's not even about getting good or whatever. It's just a new game that you have to learn, but I understand in an era of gaming where most games are played the same it will put off more complacent gamers.
But games like Sifu, Dark Souls, Elden Ring, Nioh, and Wo Long have a place for those that really want something different.
@huyi It already was a full package at launch. It had a complete story for around 40 dollars USD, but the studio has seen the support the game has gotten and has decided to release even more content for FREE for the fans of the game. Considering there were no announcements, before the game was released, for post release support for this complete single player game, this comes a welcome surprise for nearly everyone that supported the game at launch.
There's really nothing to be upset about here at all, there's no point to be proven here, and there's no scheme to fall for. You just blatantly don't understand what's going on here.
The OG RE4 is one of the greatest games ever made, and the Remake somehow tops it. My expectations were met, and my hype was well warranted. When games like this come out like this, it makes me glad I was excited for a game. Even with all the duds.
@GrimReaper even on PS6 you would still see assets like these. They save on performance and they aren't easily spotted or meant to seen up close and add to the set dressing. No developer on Earth is going to make high resolution assets for birds that are up 50 meters in the sky, sorry man.
I didn't notice any of that, and I'm on my second playthrough. I have all the post processing effects off though.
Capcom made one of my favorite games even better. The bosses especially are head and shoulders better than any RE game, especially the ol Major. Holyyyyyy, that goes up there with Old Snake vs Liquid Ocelot for me. That was amazing, and I'm looking forward to that as much as I am looking forward to shooting the final boss with a rocket at the start of the fight because that fight still sucks.
@UltimateOtaku91 You can turn your World Level down in the Paimon menu, and you can play domains (the places where you grind artifacts and weapon mats) on any tier without lowering the world level. All you really need to complete any story stuff is one or two characters that are decently geared and leveled appropriately.
But I imagine just lowering it in the Paimon menu by pressing options, will put you in a place where the enemies aren't spongy. Because you do have to fight those leveled enemies in a WL Domain quest to even progress your world level.
@Shepherd_Tallon Genshin is great if you play casually. Don't feel like you need to log in, or anything like that. As long as you're paying attention to your gear and world level, it's a REALLY easy and chill game...for the most part.
There's only one endgame activity (Abyss), and it sucks. It's some of the worst game design I've ever seen in a game.
Lot of really cool bosses, that I now kill almost instantly, but were cool when I didn't have over 1000 hours into the game.
I played a TON of the CBT, and HSR is seriously impressive. It's not like other turn based gachas where you just tap on levels and start fighting, it's a more traditional experience where the story takes you to new locations complete with a highly interactive environment. I haven't been so eager to talk to trash cans since Undertale.
A standout of these interactions is when examining a mailbox you will see two letters sticking out, and taking one will make the other fall. The game gives you three options, taking the one on the left, the right, or pushing them into mailbox. I pushed then into the mailbox, and was rewarded by having the game congratulate me on following postal regulations and being a good person. It also gave me this kind or karma currency, which you can use to be a weirdo.
I spent that currency by taking coins out of public fountain.
There's an incredible amount of attention to detail. To the point where it puts recent JRPGs to shame. Genuinely cannot wait for this game.
Putting Genshin on some ice for Star Rail.
Heeeeeell yeeeeeeaaaaaaah!!!
Amazing news! I was so hoping it was going to happen!
This game has an actual damn endgame, and enemies that, by design, don't just ×+×*ing fly around for 10 minswith only a few seconds to damage them. 3.5 Genshin has been so damn bad, I will happily put that down for a few patches to get pulled into HSR
@NathanKang Oh look everyone! Quirky-person TM with the contrarian take no one asked for!
Thank the lord, and thank you for existing. You're wonderful in every way, and if anyone says anything different they're just wrong, because you had a contrarian take on the internet!
It just seems like a worse way to play already better games, although they certainly look impressive for what they are. I just can't stand the shooting in Fortnite, and would rather play MW2 third person mode. At least in that you can switch your shoulders.
I don't know if I'm really looking forward it all that much. Season 1 started off really great, but the last two episodes especially were very disappointing. I hope the show doesn't rely too heavily on the video game source. The final two episodes were almost exactly like the games except they were done worse (can't really explain without spoiling), and both of those episodes felt really rushed imo. Acting, atmosphere, sets, everything but the pacing and some of the adaptation was great. I really liked the show overall, and while I'm not really HYPED for season 2, I will watch it.
@get2sammyb @B_Lindz And then there's Honkai Star Rail that looks better than both of these games, and it's coming out in a few weeks it looks like.
People scoff and give mobile gaming a lot of crap, but it's pretty cool to see how the games on that platform evolve in such a short time. You can't really call them cash grabs when the production is on the scale of Genshin or Honkai either.
I'll probably give this a go, but I'll be knee deep in Honkai Star Rail, so I won't have time for it.
The more I see of this game. The more and more tempted I am to buy even though it's well outside my wheelhouse. RE4 comes out so soon after as well; I might just have to wait a little for a sale.
@NEStalgia Steam Deck works well, but with the games it's been tested to work well with. If you want good emulation, it most likely needs to be done on a gaming rig, and even then, it does take a little bit - a lot of tinkering.
I love PC gaming, but console gaming just doesn't have any headache comparably speaking.
@NEStalgia it's not PAINFUL per se. It just requires a little know-how, and a lot of time. If you're not plugging in a keyboard and mouse though....oh man it really is kinda painful without that. For any advanced user things you're trying to do, like emulation, just make sure you've got a keyboard and mouse. It makes things so much easier.
I got it set up on mine, and when it works, it's cool, but when it doesn't it feels like I wasted my time.
I think it's better to just use your phone with a Razer Kaiju or Backbone, I think those are more worth buying, than spending the time getting it all working on Deck. Because everything will just WORK on a phone.
I like this better than Nioh 2, and I loved Nioh 2.
It's a lot easier than Nioh 2, and you can take that as you will (I personally thought Nioh 2 was a little too hard), but the combat and mechanics are more refined and streamlined for the better. The gear system in Nioh 2 was REALLY cluttered and you got too much of it, and most of it was useless.
I think the story is also better in Wo Long than Nioh 2.
@Northern_munkey I work in QA, and we have a Requirements team that does essentially what @pumpkin_head says. Sony, Microsoft, Valve, or Nintendo don't really have anything to do with that team aside from having guidelines.
Like...making sure the rich presence is functional on the dashboard, making sure the button prompts are correct, and making sure, when crossplay is happening, that any users not on your platform have generic icons rather than copyrighted icons.
There are SO many games that come out. They don't have the time, and won't spend the resources to make sure everything is up to their guidelines. They are there though, and the icon thing is very important. It's a whole legal issue.
@Vacuumator I would rather play Downpour than that game, but I think if it was between Shattered Memories and Homecoming, and getting my knuckles whipped with a switch for 30 mins, I'd take the latter.
I think Downpour gets too much flack. It was a fun game.
Doesn't look like there's any combat, sadly, and I just don't enjoy horror games without combat. I like killing monsters in video games; I'm not afraid of them at all, so these types of games are basically just annoying walking sims to me.
@themightyant Final Fantasy XVI isn't a JRPG though; it's an open world action RPG. That's why Yoshida has an issue with the term, it mis-labels the game, and diminishes the work everyone on the project did by giving potential players the wrong idea. Like if you made something and it was labeled as something that didn't match your work, and moreover it was apparent that it didn't match your work, I imagine you'd take issue with that.
You also removed the part where I qualified my statement about how JRPG is an antiquated term; it's also a traditional term to mean an RPG that's primarily turn based.
It is sort of an antiquated term, but it's also very a traditional term in the west to describe what is essentially a turn based RPG.
FFXVI is an action RPG for sure, so I can completely see how labeling it a JRPG would cause confusing in marketing, or even be a slight to the art itself. A Turn Based Role Playing Game, JRPG, whatever, is not what they're making, and it's not really what Naoki Yoshida's team is known for either.
I agree, it doesn't compliment the work on the game. It doesn't do it justice.
@djlard @Flaming_Kaiser It's the publishers that decide that games are shipped unpolished. QA finds all these bugs, and sometimes in the case of invisible walls and stuff, you even get what's called a NAB (Not a bug) that will count against you professionally.
Just because bugs are found doesn't mean they get fixed. The studio and publisher decides what gets fixed and what issues stay in the game on release. It sucks.

@Stocksy You know that, among white people, that other races and ethnicities use this site right?
Quit morally grandstanding... I mean, especially of you're not even gonna do it right. Genuinely laughable.
Re: Resident Evil 4's Ada Wong Responds to Social Media Abuse
@Balosi That doesn't really work for Resident Evil 4. For the time, the original, had pretty damn good voice acting.
And everyone else on the cast in the remake is great. Gao's performance...well it stands out. Like she barely tried.
Seriously, listen to some of Krauser's lines and then some of Ada's. It's night and die in terms of even the effort that was put in.

I spent that currency by taking coins out of public fountain.
There's an incredible amount of attention to detail. To the point where it puts recent JRPGs to shame. Genuinely cannot wait for this game.
Re: Genshin Impact Dev's Turnbased RPG Honkai: Star Rail Confirmed for PS5, PS4
Putting Genshin on some ice for Star Rail.
Heeeeeell yeeeeeeaaaaaaah!!!
Amazing news! I was so hoping it was going to happen!
This game has an actual damn endgame, and enemies that, by design, don't just ×+×*ing fly around for 10 minswith only a few seconds to damage them. 3.5 Genshin has been so damn bad, I will happily put that down for a few patches to get pulled into HSR
Re: Hitman: World of Assassination Unveils Spring Content Roadmap
Maaaan, this game is amazing.
Re: God of War Has Inspired a New TMNT Game
@NathanKang Oh look everyone! Quirky-person TM with the contrarian take no one asked for!
Thank the lord, and thank you for existing. You're wonderful in every way, and if anyone says anything different they're just wrong, because you had a contrarian take on the internet!
Re: Fortnite Has Been Utterly Transformed by Brain Bending New Tools
It just seems like a worse way to play already better games, although they certainly look impressive for what they are. I just can't stand the shooting in Fortnite, and would rather play MW2 third person mode. At least in that you can switch your shoulders.
Re: The Last of Us Season 2 Will Be a While, 'End of 2024, Early 2025' Says Bella Ramsey
Re: There's a New Persona 5 Game, But It's a Gacha for Smartphones
@get2sammyb @B_Lindz And then there's Honkai Star Rail that looks better than both of these games, and it's coming out in a few weeks it looks like.
People scoff and give mobile gaming a lot of crap, but it's pretty cool to see how the games on that platform evolve in such a short time. You can't really call them cash grabs when the production is on the scale of Genshin or Honkai either.
I'll probably give this a go, but I'll be knee deep in Honkai Star Rail, so I won't have time for it.
Re: Express Yourself with Tchia's Intricate Customization Options and Analogue Photo Mode
The more I see of this game. The more and more tempted I am to buy even though it's well outside my wheelhouse.
RE4 comes out so soon after as well; I might just have to wait a little for a sale.
Looks really ambitious and cute though.
Re: This Android App Will Transform Your PS5, PS4 Remote Play Experience
@NEStalgia Steam Deck works well, but with the games it's been tested to work well with. If you want good emulation, it most likely needs to be done on a gaming rig, and even then, it does take a little bit - a lot of tinkering.
I love PC gaming, but console gaming just doesn't have any headache comparably speaking.
Re: This Android App Will Transform Your PS5, PS4 Remote Play Experience
Re: This Android App Will Transform Your PS5, PS4 Remote Play Experience
@AdamNovice it can work on Steam Deck, buy you have to do a lot of work to get it work, and it's probably not worth it.
Re: This Android App Will Transform Your PS5, PS4 Remote Play Experience
@mariomaster96 That account exists to only give the ****iest takes imaginable. It's hilarious.
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty?
I like this better than Nioh 2, and I loved Nioh 2.
It's a lot easier than Nioh 2, and you can take that as you will (I personally thought Nioh 2 was a little too hard), but the combat and mechanics are more refined and streamlined for the better. The gear system in Nioh 2 was REALLY cluttered and you got too much of it, and most of it was useless.
I think the story is also better in Wo Long than Nioh 2.
I just really loved this game.
Re: Sony Concerned Microsoft Could, Knowingly or Not, Sabotage Call of Duty on PlayStation
Re: Psychological Horror Someday You'll Return Delves Deep on PS5, PS4
@Vacuumator I would rather play Downpour than that game, but I think if it was between Shattered Memories and Homecoming, and getting my knuckles whipped with a switch for 30 mins, I'd take the latter.
I think Downpour gets too much flack. It was a fun game.
Re: Psychological Horror Someday You'll Return Delves Deep on PS5, PS4
Doesn't look like there's any combat, sadly, and I just don't enjoy horror games without combat. I like killing monsters in video games; I'm not afraid of them at all, so these types of games are basically just annoying walking sims to me.
Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Essential Games for March 2023?
I already have Code Vein, and that's the only interesting thing for me.
Re: Naoki Yoshida Is Not a Fan of the Term 'JRPG'
@themightyant Final Fantasy XVI isn't a JRPG though; it's an open world action RPG. That's why Yoshida has an issue with the term, it mis-labels the game, and diminishes the work everyone on the project did by giving potential players the wrong idea. Like if you made something and it was labeled as something that didn't match your work, and moreover it was apparent that it didn't match your work, I imagine you'd take issue with that.
You also removed the part where I qualified my statement about how JRPG is an antiquated term; it's also a traditional term to mean an RPG that's primarily turn based.
Re: Naoki Yoshida Is Not a Fan of the Term 'JRPG'
It is sort of an antiquated term, but it's also very a traditional term in the west to describe what is essentially a turn based RPG.
FFXVI is an action RPG for sure, so I can completely see how labeling it a JRPG would cause confusing in marketing, or even be a slight to the art itself. A Turn Based Role Playing Game, JRPG, whatever, is not what they're making, and it's not really what Naoki Yoshida's team is known for either.
I agree, it doesn't compliment the work on the game. It doesn't do it justice.
Re: EA Reportedly Lays Off More Than 200 Apex Legends QA Testers in Unscheduled Zoom Call
@Flaming_Kaiser Yeah, you don't get it. Not surprised.
Re: EA Reportedly Lays Off More Than 200 Apex Legends QA Testers in Unscheduled Zoom Call
It sucks.
Re: Rumour: Shin Megami Tensei 5 to Be Announced for PS5, PS4 in May, But There's No Real Evidence
@Ralizah I have the game, I should just emulate it for that performance. I know it has potential to look amazing.
