@ShogunRok Thanks for the summary. It does sound like they could use the expanded playerbase a console release would give them. But I don't envy them the role of keeping both PC and console camps satisfied.
Hope they pull it off and give everyone a fun mmo. ๐
Easy now people, take a deep breath. Having passion and opinions for a game is all well and good, but this is getting a bit weird.
Remember our identity is attached to our personality not to some stupid Ubisoft game. Either "reward" them by buying it, or "punish" them by not buying it.
Or be a dirty dirty cheapskate like me and wait until you can get it for a fraction of the price...and then maybe pick it up. ๐
@Enigk lol, yeah must've been some high grade drama. Would've loved to be a fly on the wall during that meeting. ๐
I envision a Mad Men scenario where they scrounge up all the files and contacts (maybe a few promising new IPs) that they can get away with within the law...and making a run for it. ๐
Guess we'll know if they landed safely on their feet soon enough. ๐ค
I'm guessing they (Gary & the others who left) already had a backup investor/partner for their plan to start something new. If not, then something must've gone horribly wrong during discussions.
The Outer Wilds was such a masterclass in storytelling in a game-format. Luckily it sounds like publishing duties will continue.
Not even with the thickest and deeply tinted nostalgia-glasses does this look 8-bit. But apart from that it looks like a lot of fun, definitely picking it up. ๐
I'm trying muster up the passion to say something about Ubisoft, good OR bad. But everything about their designed-by-committee portfolio just leaves me feeling aggressively indifferent. ๐ฅฑ
A PS5 Pro sounds good. But until there's more games I'd like to play that can take advantage of the extra power in a meaningful way I'll stick to the base model.
@riceNpea Yeah, I agree. He's a complex character that the world fell in love with over the span of the original trilogy. Any and all changes to his personality/character are easy to spot.
Crystal Skull was far from good, but at least it felt like a bad Indy movie. Dial of Destiny was, IMO, just a fanfic written by a "special" person. ๐
I just hope this teams writers aren't the same as Wolfenstein-Youngblood...oof.
Indiana Jones seems to be a difficult IP to transform into a successful game. I played Fate of Atlantis a handful of years ago and loved it, but apart from that one I've not played a game that captures that "Indy" feeling.
That he won't be a shooting everything he sees is for sure a good sign. ๐ Hope they end up with a good game.
I agree, to a point, that the definition of live service can be stretched to include games with regular updates.
But when we got bombarded with statements like "get used to not owning games", publishers frothing over the thought of scummy subscription models and updates that removes content (like the recent Alan Wake music track). It's no wonder most people try to push back IMO.
If the industry believes that GAAS is the only way for gaming to grow an thrive economically, which the majority seem to think. Well, we're in for a wild ride. Gamers are nothing if not stubborn and protective of their hobby. ๐

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Astro Bot?
Looks like a fun game, will 100% pick it up when the price drops a bit.
Re: Reborn RPG New World: Aeternum's Open Beta Is Out Now on PS5
I haven't been following this game very closely but wasn't the PC version quite mismanaged?

Thank you for your service, let's hope the NDA assassins makes it quick and painless. ๐

Might get it at deep discount down the road, but only if trusted reviews are raving. Ubisoft = ๐ฅฑ

Not getting invested in this until I'm 100% sure it won't be a over-monetized riddled nightmare. Looks fun af!

Must be the same analyst firm that has been promising game publishers and Hollywood sweet nothings about the "modern audience". ๐

Nope
