Its a shame they stuck with the 5 episodes format releasing at different times. The big issue with telltale was always the inconsistent release schedule. It meant i never bought in until the whole series was released so i could play in one go - by which time (more often than not) the season pass was on sale
@Robocod yes i completely agree! Tearaway was brilliant too. MM took the creation aspect a little too far in my opinion here, and forgot to hang it off a full game. Thats what worked so well with little big planet.
Ironically i think sumo digital perfected the concept with the fantastic little big planet vita edition
I bought dreams in early access and im amazed they were able to work on it for so long tbh. MM are clearly nowhere near the level of productivity Sony will require from a first party studio. It didnt strike me as a game that would have a particularly long tail at retail and also clearly would have benefitted from a pc release with cross play support to increase community creations.
Media Molecule really need to work on something new at this point
People will moan at Jim Ryan and Herman Hulst being all about the money, but its difficult to hold it against them in this instance
Will wait for a sale. Will likely still be playing Spiderman 2 and have loads of other stuff to play (still have to start Ishin and Lost Judgement too) - so Kiryu can wait till it is discounted in the new year.
Yes i would have bought it day 1 had it been physical
My issue with this is not the functionality of it. If that is the user purpose Sony identified in R&D then fair enough (even though i'd really only consider this if it was a dedicated handheld device and i dont thinkthis is what people were asking for).
No. My issue is that Sony has a reputation for developing attractive technology. Whereas this....no.
Yeah the Science adventure series is great - though wil be weird not to play on the Vita which i feel was a much better fit for visual novels. Steins;gate was one of the best stories i've experienced in any medium.
Steins;gate zero and Chaos;child were also good but not quite as compelling (though chaos;child was genuinely chilling/creepy in parts). Looking forward to checking this one out at some point!
Proof that twitter folk are talking out of their rear end (and everyone should be a bit more sceptical before reporting on stuff as fact). Good to see this statement from Square Enix and i hope the game continues to sell well
I just hope we can get some across the spiderverse skins in the game. I'd love to play a game in that animation style, but some character skins - similar to the comic book suit in the first game - would be the next best thing. Once i unlocked that i didnt use anything else
Strike could also help ND to make decent progress on part 3. It would be better IMO for the game trilogy to be wrapped up before they try and make a 3rd series of the TV show - we've all seen the impact that catching up and overtaking the books had on Game of Thrones
Eurogamer covered this in 2021. Its based on an extremely long report (369 pages!!!) on this very topic but here are a couple of links that you might find interesting:
My Tesco hasnt stocked physical releases for about 18 months so i assumed this was nothing new. Certainly looks like the game industry is going to get its way though with the push to digital.
Will probably get slaughtered for this but no absolutely not. Makes even less sense than part 1. Just drop what you already have on PC if that's the aim. We can't continue like this. Because you know it wouldnt be Nixxes working on this. It would be Naughty Dog - and they really must crack on with developing something new.
Yes i fully understand the marketing opportunities associated with releasing this close to the TV show but ND are in real danger of milking the series dry. Guerilla sound like they could be going the same direction too with Horizon if their ten Horizon projects in development line is true
(For the avoidance of doubt, i think The Last of Us Part 2 is an absolute masterpiece)
Going to be fascinating this, after EA said they had been restricted in innovating as much as they liked by Fifa. Really interested in how it plays out.
Fifa will regret not reaching an agreement. Like them or not, EA have been making football games for a long time. No one else can really come close. I did half expect Fifa to try and jump on PES (refuse to call it e- Football) but clearly that hasnt happened.
Wonder if EA Football will announce Rice for Arsenal before the club manages to achieve it 🤦
The impact won't be felt until PS6. More casual gamers might purchase Microsoft's machine on the basis they will be advertising COD heavily as an xbox title (assuming COD is still a big deal in a few years time).
Microsoft having advertising rights to COD was a significant contributor to Microsoft's initial success with the 360, and likewise Sony with PS4.
Sony is going to have to be smart. A cornered Sony is a dangerous animal though. They turned around the dreadful start to PS3 and released some of the best games of the generation. They are going to have to shore up and further invest in their first party talent, and work to retain those old relationships they have treasured over the last 25 years.
And for goodness sake, go and say sorry to those Japanese developers and rebuild those relationships.
Playstation has by no means been dealt a killing blow here, but hard work is definitely needed.
This has been an ugly affair, and i personally haven't enjoyed seeing all these industry secrets spilling out in to the public as all it has achieved has been to flame console wars.
I think both Sony and Microsoft have looked awful during this process. It will be interesting to see how this impacts future partnerships, Activision notwithstanding.
Sony will have to bring their A game now. Genuinely wouldn't be surprised to see another showcase this year
I think its real and will be announced to release alongside the animated cartoon coming to netflix - possibly 2024-2025?
I dont see it being a significant departure in the way 7 Remake was so i reckon it will retain many of the classic elements but with a new art style, possibly to emulate the design of the anime.
I also heard FFX might be getting a remaster to align with its 25th anniversary in 2026, but surely its too ambitious for square to make on top of the continuation of the 7R trilogy, FF9, and kingdom hearts 4
As a final fantasy die hard who has invested in almost every title, i would almost have expected the number to be higher after 35 years - but at the same time its a very impressive and well deserved milestone for what was once quite a niche genre.
If they could reprint the pixel remasters on disc id be buying it again tomorrow
@Sam_ATLUS No worries at all. It was this story that prompted me to take a look and i think the listing has only gone up in the last couple of days 🙂
Hit and Shopto are my go to's aswell - though Shopto is predominantly my destination for PSN credit rather than physical releases these days as they cant quite compete on price like they used to.
Been hearing good things about thegamecollection for new releases too, though ive not tried them yet
Here you go. Hit.co.uk used to be base.com. They are legit, ive been using them for years. Snagged my FF16 preorder on there for 51 pounds only a few weeks ago
I've preordered this for £49.99 which feels like my upper limit for this currently.
My concern as ever is that they will release a version with cut content in a years time- and my issue with that isnt limited to just cost, but time. These games aren't short!
Atlus need to move beyond that practice now, or as we are seeing in this comments section, people wont continue to support them.
It looks like a slow week all over on Japan though. Master detective only sold 55k. Worth waiting a month or so to get a real picture.
On another note that master detective game is really a sign of how Sony has lost that grip on the japanese market that made them stand out for me.
The game was made by the developers behind the excellent danganronpa series which started out as a psp and then vita exclusive before going to more platforms fairly recently. Thats the kind of game i liked to see coming exclusively to Sony consoles as it made the platform stand out from the competition. Whereas now nintendo have jumped into that space. Shame really.
Great interview guys. Always love it when you do something different like this. You can really sense the passion Kondo-san has for the series here which is an absolutely ceucial element in making the games so good.
Said it before and will say it again that Sony could really help Falcom out if they got more involved in the company, particularly from a marketing perspective and supporting the translation process so there was a shorter gap between the Japanese and global release dates
Mine is a little anaemic at the moment. As ever i am struggling to keep up. So for now i have to pick Resident Evil 4 remake, Hogwarts Legacy, and Final Fantasy 16
Although i have octopath traveller 2 and Like a dragon ishin which could easily get on the list once played
I have no doubt Dead Space will be up there once i get around to picking it up. Have to confess that as its an EA game ive been waiting on a sale despite the original being one of my favourite games of the PS3 generation. Just feel it has a larger print run than the likes of Octopath and Trails From Azure / Into Reverie so less urgency to pick it up
9, 10, 7, 6, 8 for me currently. Too early to say on 16 (only just unlocked limit breaks, but i'd love it to be in the conversation when all's said and done).
I do think 13 and 15 are underated but they both have too many issues to reach top 5 status. Namely issues with the story. But the music in both is top notch.
12 never did much for me and i still couldnt get into the Zodiac age version. The sequel, Revenant Wings on DS is fantastic though
7 Remake is fab, dont care about the haters. Its a great game and was a return to form for the series
10-2 was ok, and 13-2 was very good. Less said about lightning returns the better.
4 i remember being very good but cant remember much of 1, 2, 3, or 5
Im still confused about digital. I do get the convenience of having games on the SDD and i'm not critical of those who chose to buy from the store.
But i paid £51 for FF16 on disc, whereas it was £70 on PSN - And i was able to put that £19 towards buying Octopath Traveller 2 which i found (physically) on sale for £29.99
I do agree with @Splat though. Sales data now has too many caveats to paint a full picture, so it makes little sense to exclude digital from the count.
Possible samage limitation option. Make 3 and include factions in the release - then there is less pressure for it to meet ND levels of perfection compared to if it launches as a standalone release.
I do want to see part 3 to finish the story, but do hope ND have been working on something else. A new ip is long overdue

People already scalping the controller for 120 pounds on ebay. I give up on humanity 😖
Re: Where to Pre-Order Marvel's Spider-Man 2 PS5 Console and DualSense Controller
Managed to get the Dualsense on Playstation direct. Havent been able to find it anywhere else in the UK, so very glad i got that ordered this morning.
I justified an extra pad (this will be my 4th) by claiming it was for my son, but i know i'll end up using it most.
I'm still disappointed. i missed out on the God of War pad (which i still think is nicer) - so im glad i snagged this one

Re: Of Course Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's Logo Leaks from a Pack of Monster Energy Drinks
MW2 was super disapointing after the first one - and the one year turnaround doesnt fill me with confidence.
The cynic in me says this is just a way to flog a map pack at an inflated price.
