Re: PS Plus Extra Game for November Revealed Super Early

Shakybeeves

Awesome stuff, Sea of Stars is a quality title, beat the Cloud boss (which was no walk in the park), but havent gone back to it yet, as this year is insane for gaming! Teardown looks like a potential sleeper hit too. I do genuinely feel Sony have the right model, day and date for 1st party is cannabilising.

Re: UK Sales Charts: Starfield Soars While Mortal Kombat Hype Brings Back 11

@Godot25 fair comment BUT this is the first of its kind. We have not seen a Gamepass title sell so well at physical retail until now. There's no doubt Gamepass canablised retail sales for other titles on the Xbox side, Wo Long Fallen Dynasty as an example. I believe with subscription spending plateauing, this data is going to give Microsoft food for thought e.g. perhaps Sony were right - Premium IP releases are king.

Re: Despite Being on PS Plus Extra, Sea of Stars Tops 100k Sales in One Day

Spent a few hours on it last night, beat the first main boss and beyond that, this game is absolutely fantastic! World is great, traversal and exploration - great, combat suprisingly deep and rewarding, despite being incredibly simple to get your head around, graphics and presentation - great. WIN for our chosen subscription service for sure, I'm going to main game it over the weekend.

Re: Poll: Did You Buy Armored Core 6?

Shakybeeves

Massive Soulsborne fan, but not going to buy Armored Core just yet, I'll wait for sale in 6 months or so, as I'm not 100% its my bag, but at the same time I trust Fromsoftware with my money whatever they make at this point!

Re: Larian Studios CEO Responds to 'Raised Standards' Concerns: 'Standards Die Every Day'

Shakybeeves

I read the entire X post, it smacked of bitterness for me. I agree with some of his notions, similiar to Fromsoft, Larian's journey has been iterative, since the 90's. They have been singularly focussed on building deep CRPG's and that momentum/experience has bore potentially their Magum Opus in Baldurs Gate 3. To suggest this game is an anomaly is frankly disrepsectful. And therein lies Venkce's challenge back, the possibilites are endless with the right focus and yes - investment. Lets use TOTK as an example, cost effective (ITERATIVE) choices in using the same map and fundamentals as BOTW to build upon. And essentially gave dev tools to the players, to shape their own experiences. There's a sky island up there, we can make some suggestions, but ultimately how you get there, is up to you - the possibilities are endless. What Larian, Fromsoft and Nintendo are now doing, is shining a light on the creatively vacuous, homegenised gaming industry that is currently at risk of becoming like the ailing film industry. By seeing what works from a lucrative perpsective and simply replicating that again and again and again (see Fortnite). And frankly as a Playstation guy (obviously) I fear SIE are treading the path of mundanity. As much as I love 1st party titles, they are all story driven, 3rd person action experiences. That is why Larian should stand proud in their position as a shining beacon amongst the quagmire of clones, clamouring for profit, not providence.

Re: Lara Croft, Nicki Minaj Coming to Call of Duty

Shakybeeves

Homogenised game industry all trying to emulate Fortnite, why the **** would we want Nicki Minaj in Call of Duty, the series is becoming a joke and I wager its on its descent finally. I traded in MW2 as the core PREMIUM title I paid £60 for was woefully supported, with it becoming extremely clear that the F2P Warzone aspect is prioritised above the premium core game that people went out and purchased. I honestly think XBOX have just spent alot of money on declining IP, with systemic company culture issues - good luck to them.

Re: UK Sales Charts: Final Fantasy 16 Sales Way Down, Out of the Top 10

Shakybeeves

@Shstrick I would agree intially the side quests are laughable, but if you persevere (and I was doing this anyway as I wanted to go for completionist and see everything the game has to offer) these really start to evolve and I'm suprised by the lore and dark stories the side missions are bringing to the fore. The game gradually opens up like a blossoming flower, I loved it right out of the gate, but for those that dont you have to keep playing!

Re: Starfield, Redfall Exclusivity 'Powerful Evidence' Against Xbox's Activision Buyout, Claims FTC

Shakybeeves

If this acquisition goes through we all know it sets a precedent that no merger between two publishers in the gaming industry is too big (as this is the biggest!). Microsoft will then attempt to gobble up every other mainstream publisher and completely sideline their main competitor through exclusivity. Making Playstation a niche choice for gamers. Whether you're an xbot or a pony this will be doomsday for our favourite hobby, with one of the greediest all consuming companies in the world having a monopoly over gaming. Any steps enacted to make this acquisition difficult, I see as a damn good thing.
