Well of course they would be "better than ever". This is about as meaningful a headline as when Apple says the latest iPhone is "the fastest iPhone ever."
@nomither6 I'm aware. Not sure what your point is. When I play a videogame, I'm not doing it so that I earn a little badge to display on my online profile.
I love this game, but the extent to which they’ve gotten so many media outlets to mindlessly tap into the whole “for democracy!” etc vibe instead of just talking straight is kind of sad.
Just report the story as it is instead of doing unpaid work marketing the game for them.
It’s been over three years since this console generation started. We’re likely more than 40% through this generation. Stop calling it “new-gen”. It’s just current.
I still don't get how they haven't announced a VR version of this game. Surely it's coming and they're just trying to focus on the flat screen release first. The driving segments and slow FPS stuff scream VR, and the choice of art style has a lot of similarities to other VR games, (because its conducive to keeping framerates high)
@GamingFan4Lyf Whether or not it might be cheaper to get the upgrade in some other way is completely irrelevant to whether or not it's a change in specs. It's absolutely an "upgrade in terms of technical specifications", period. So the article as written is incorrect.
And no one is suggesting someone should replace their console because they're chasing a bit more storage.
@Member_the_game Whether or not it might be cheaper to get the upgrade in some other way is completely irrelevant to whether or not it's a change in specs. It's absolutely an "upgrade in terms of technical specifications", period. So the article as written is incorrect.
Sorry, but it's not so straightforward as to say it ISN'T an upgrade. The internal storage has been bumped up to 1TB from 825GB. And when you consider that the original model leaves you with 667GB available, that 1TB drive means a whopping 26% increase in available capacity. Hard not to call that an upgrade.
@ShogunRok Sorry, but I don't see this specific point articulated in what's written, and I'm arguing that it's the biggest and most obvious point to make. You bring up the hypothesis that since you're essentially surveying people in "the hardcore space", you'd expect interest to be high, but you don't point out that if you're in the "hardcore space" and regularly visiting a site that reports on PS5 news (there isn't much PS4 news to be spoken of anymore), then you probably already own a PS5 and wouldn't be giving a new model any consideration. Also worth pointing out that plenty of the "hardcore" fans are inclined to feel that the "OG" version (absent a Pro model) is the best one to own and that "slim" revisions would be downgrades.
Thinking about it another way, that survey would have been a lot more insightful if it had first included the question "Do you already own a PS5?" (or at leaast included it as a response option as to why you're not interested in the Slim), so that you could make a lot more inferences about how many respondents are even in the market at all and WHY.
@ShogunRok Facepalm — surely you realize that the reason why interest registered so low is the convenience sampling of the survey. The majority of regular visitors to this site ALREADY OWN PS5s. That's why there's little interest in buying a slim.
@Ludacritz Fellow Canadian here. I'll also be letting it lapse. I'm certain I could buy the 2 or 3 games a year on PS+ that are worth playing and pay less than half the new subscription price.
@Loamy The device is almost certainly going to be powered by a low-end mobile chip, likely something Sony's already using in one of its phones. At best, it's going to be about as competent at emulation as a current Android phone.
@Loamy It's not an emulation device at all. All it does is handle a video stream from your PS5. The only processing it's doing on board is decoding video. There is zero emulation hardware/software to speak of.
@Reeneman Surprised that there's been zero clarification from Guerrilla (or push from media outlets to get this question answered) about this. Presumably the features that make Burning Shores a PS5 exclusive should trickle down to the base game, right? It's not like the clouds are going to suddenly start being generated with a different method depending on which quest you have selected in the menu....
@StylesT Similar experience, and I wholeheartedly agree. Force myself to push through for 30 hours and finally decided it was not a good use of my time because I only wanted to finish the story, but found all of the story and cinematics so bad that I couldn't watch them. But be careful, you're not allowed to publicly state you think this franchise is overrated. The woefully bad characters, dialogue, voice acting, storytelling, and mission design are things we're supposed to be quiet about.
I remember when Tiger Woods Golf had this feature in 2007. It also launched totally broken and took many weeks to get sorted out. Evidently it's still just as hard 16 years later.
@Uromastryx Lol if anyone used this particular rounding method in school they'd have a tough time in math class. At what point does it become reasonable to say "more than ten years old" when it's not? Can I say it when something is 9.1 years old? 8.5 years old?
I know the general point is the same, saying it's "OVER ten years old" is bad form. Either you don't care about accuracy or you've confused what year we're in. The console launched in fall of 2013, so it's literally not ten years old yet. It's not even 9.5 years old. Just a weird choice to somehow round that UP beyond 10.
Yikes. You can see in even the brief gameplay clips that the Gollum's animations are either really stiff, or not even finalized yet. Or they're using really old pre-alpha footage, which would also be a very bad sign. I predict an entertaining train wreck if this is out in less than two months lol
I think it's far more likely they would bring these enhancements alongside the DLC, so unless they're also releasing the DLC suddenly, these significant enhancements aren't happening immediately.
Keep in mind they pointed out that new feature development etc is only being done on current-gen+PC, just like how the DLC is not coming to previous-gen. I'm sure dropping that old hardware is enabling these bigger changes (eg. much better AI+systems for Police thanks to more CPU). It would make a lot more sense to drop these big changes alongside the DLC to maximize hype.
Yay, a game based on an unlikeable character from an overrated IP that had its heyday two decades ago. Oh AND it's cross-gen, so the core game was built around the limitations of low-powered hardware from 2013. Just save money now and cancel the game.
Canada has Crave, which has like 90% overlap with the HBO Max catalogue, including brand new shows like TLOU. You might want to consult the wikipedia page for HBO/HBO Max if you care to actually make a proper list.

There is no FSR involved for the Pro modes. They clearly indicate PSSR for both modes in the table. It’s not confusing.

I'm confused. Teardown was pulled from Extra in like, May. I can't imagine it was readded since then and is about to be pulled again.
RDR2 is also strange given it was only added a few months ago. I'm used to these terms being six months or longer.

It’s “here come two”. In English when the object is plural, you use a plural verb form. Just like how it’s incorrect to say “here’s some reasons”.
