Re: Reaction: What Happens to PlayStation if Microsoft Buys Activision Blizzard?

kyleforrester87

@sanderson72 I tend to agree, although I don’t particularly dislike Jim but can’t say I have a lot of affinity for him either, and I am willing to put the last weird year from PlayStation down to them fighting this.

But they need to start to up their game now somehow, I don’t know the answer but the Sony Brand bread and butter exclusives just don’t do it for me anymore. Last one really worth a damn in my view was Bloodborne and that was a third party dev. (Although, I am yet to pick up Gran Turismo 6.)

Re: Larian Studios Gets TikTok Ban for Bear-Form Druid Sex Scene in Baldur's Gate 3

kyleforrester87

@Olmaz Not withstanding the fact the game is pure fantasy, two sentient beings, one of which happens to be able to shapeshift, consenting to engage in some mutual hanky panky is not the same as tricking the cat into the bath with a pack of Dreamies and a tub of Vaseline and I would advise anyone unable to make that distinction to avoid this game.

You speak of promoting behaviour considered illegal/immoral.. how on earth is a depiction of consensual sex between two adults illegal or immoral. And if illegal and immoral behaviour is really a problem for you, refer to the many posts above that point out the hypocrisy of your position when you can play games like GTA. Bottom line is, it makes you squirm, and you want the problem to be something other than yourself.

Terrible opinions like yours do make for fascinating scrolling, though.

I’m back focusing on Tears of the Kingdom, I am near the end of the story. I am really, really loving it. What a great game.

I also impulse bought a Miyoo Mini Plus+, looking forward to that coming through. Anyone else have one..?

I also dug up my Gameboy Micro the other day - last charged in 2008, somehow it was still holding battery?! One of the buttons doesn’t work, going to clean up the contacts and if it is ok I will try to buy a new case and buttons for it to freshen it up. It’s a neat little machine.

Re: Final Fantasy 16 Is the Seventh Best Final Fantasy Game According to Fans

kyleforrester87

Turned based combat in Final Fantasy games is nothing special, the vast majority of the time it’s press X until you win, then heal in the menus. It’s not awful, I enjoy it - it’s pretty therapeutic, actually, and nice to see those numbers going up. Bravely Default, Octopath, all very good, but boy those “speed boost”, “auto combat” commands and “disable encounter” options certainly do not go unused!

Not suggesting pure action is the solution, it’s just I am not sure what fans of the “old ways” are really pining after with that one. Personally I really do prefer turn based, but I know when I am beat.

One things for sure, classic turn based combat doesn’t have mass appeal and it’s getting less appealing with time and as technology improves. They will never give a sizeable budget to a FF with a classic combat system, because it’s an awful investment, and would probably end the series.

Re: Comprehensive Baldur's Gate 3 Playthroughs Set to Last 200 Hours

kyleforrester87

@Jaz007 I generally agree but having not played many of these games on PC for years now, I thought I would give it the benefit of the doubt as my memory is hazy.

For Pillars of Eternity on console, if the combat scenario was even remotely complex, I’d be slowing the combat speed right down so “real time with pause” is actually a misnomer.. “1/4 speed with pause” is more accurate.

Re: Price of Fortnite's V-Bucks Set to Change in Select North American Regions, UK Because Inflation

kyleforrester87

@nessisonett Prices have gone up in USA, and still epic operate globally including subsidiaries.. I would think inevitably they are covering higher costs - rents, suppliers, utilities, wages across the board. Vbucks directly generate income for Epic which of course has purchasing power.

The question of course is are these increased prices legitimately needed to keep the business going through a difficult period or are they profiteering.. of course it looks like the latter. It’s a shame and does not help anyone in the long run but the only solution to the higher price is to not buy them.

Re: Price of Fortnite's V-Bucks Set to Change in Select North American Regions, UK Because Inflation

kyleforrester87

Of course Vbucks are subject to price increases, along with everything else, if Epic are looking to maintain current profits. In theory it could be a good thing for inflation if the result is people stop spending money on them. Doubt that will happen though so Epic should do the decent thing and keep the prices down instead of stoking the fires, since it's not like they are really hurting. And the funny thing is, are these prices really going to all drop back down again in a year once inflation is under control? Doubt it.

Re: Mini Review: Sonic Origins Plus (PS5) - The Wrong Library of Games to Bring Back

kyleforrester87

@OrtadragoonX I guess I just wanted the literal examples of the 2 specific steps forward and 1 step backwards Sega made that resulted in them leaving the hardware market, as I don’t see it as being comparable to the state of this game 😂 But, I understand the sentiment.

In other news, I realised my TV wasn’t in game mode on the HDMI channel I had my MD mini hooked up to, hence the input lag I was getting. Just turned GM on and it’s much better!

Re: Mini Review: Sonic Origins Plus (PS5) - The Wrong Library of Games to Bring Back

kyleforrester87

@OrtadragoonX yeah I mean it obviously flopped for reasons or, well, it would have been a success. But you could apply the “two steps forward, one step backward” logic to anything that has ever failed, when it is generally always more complicated than that. N64 and GameCube were pretty cool consoles but I wonder if Nintendo would have been in a position to launch the Wii without the handheld side of the business doing as well as it was, which I guess is something Sega just didn’t have going for it.

Re: Mini Review: Sonic Origins Plus (PS5) - The Wrong Library of Games to Bring Back

kyleforrester87

I am not a massive Sonic fan, but I still really admired the games back in the day, collected some of the comics and played them whenever and wherever I could until I got a PlayStation. I played more than less of the total games across Master System and Mega Drive, but for some reason Chaos remains my favourite of them all. I like the levels, the soundtrack, and tbh how stupidly easy it is to play through. I have a lot of nostalgia for it as I got it for Christmas with the system when I was 6. I remember my brother got to the last boss on the first sitting, then we cleared it on our second attempt.

I was in the mood to play it very recently, and then by coincidence noticed it was due to be released as part of this pack. I was pretty gutted to hear it’s the game gear versions, and they don’t stack up.

I have tried to run a version on my jail broken Mega Drive Mini just last night, but the emulation doesn’t seem very good. I have a 1 second delay when pressing buttons. I’m going to try a few things to see if I can fix that, as I’d like to play a nice version. If anyone has any tips, let me know.

Shame they didn’t do this justice.

Re: Final Fantasy 16 Dev Pleads for Cooperation As PS5 Game Leaks

kyleforrester87

@mariomaster96 has that ever happened to you though? Just, I watch quite a bit of YouTube but don’t recall anything getting spoiled that way. Nothing with TOTK, for example, despite all the leaks. Even games that are out now (Diablo, whatever) I am not really seeing what I would call spoilers in my feed..? Guess it must happen as people talk about it a lot though.

Re: There's Growing Concern Over Persona Dev's Metaphor: ReFantazio Being an Xbox Exclusive

kyleforrester87

@get2sammyb I don't know about that. Why go to the effort of embargoing the other games, just to say actually that this one is exclusive. If you say that, without saying the others are exclusive too, everyone would know they are multiplatform and the embargo would have been (even more) pointless. They have time to declare it an exclusive (or not), in the meantime it doesn't hurt them any to have people guessing.
