Sheesh peeps. He didn’t say he was going to do it, he just said that it would be easy to do…and if you’ve been to a site that blocks adblockers, you know this. The fact that they haven’t should be your takeaway.

I don’t use adblockers, but have never found the ads to be intrusive. I may sign up to help out, as I understand there are costs and salaries.

Re: UK Regulator No Longer Concerned About Activision Buyout's Impact on Console Competition

@Toypop
Where did I say anything about Sony?

Frankly, I find it morbidly fascinating that a trillion dollar company lacks the capability to develop and release quality games and feels the only way for its gaming segment to survive is to buy up developers that have consistently been multi platform and make their games exclusive.

Sony will keep making great games. Microsoft can’t stop that.

Re: Microsoft Thinks It Hasn't 'Pulled Any Games' from PS5, PS4

lacerz

Microsoft’s problem here is that this isn’t more of the silly arguments being flung about, this is a direct statement from an employee of a company Microsoft acquired speaking specifically to how Microsoft directed them in regards to PlayStation after the acquisition. There are no ifs, ands or buts. Microsoft bought ZeniMax and specifically singled out the PS5 and said to cancel further development. If proof is in the pudding, this is pretty damning.

Re: Vampire FPS Redfall Was in Development for PS5, But Was Canned After Xbox Buyout

Maybe, at some point, Microsoft will start creating new IP instead of buying up what it’s lacked the vision to create itself. The last substantial IP they created was Sea of Thieves five years ago. Outside of that, they’ve been riding the Halo (2001), Gears (2006) and Forza (2005) train ad nauseam.

It takes an extremely loyal fan base to stick around for…that.

Re: Sony Has No Console Exclusivity Over Baldur's Gate 3

lacerz

I’m not sure how much use the split screen would get…I’m surprised they didn’t just pull it from the X/S until a remedy could be patched in. Maybe not the best solution, but it would at least be a stop gap. Sucks that devs have to deal with this along with everything else involved in launching a game.

Re: Sony Has No Console Exclusivity Over Baldur's Gate 3

lacerz

@LiamCroft
It’s hard to decipher without clarification. Is it the split screen on both the X and S, or does that mean that the S can’t properly run split screen? I would think the X wouldn’t have an issue with this, but I don’t believe Microsoft will allow developers to release for one system and not the other, meaning if the S can’t run it, the x won’t get it either.

Whatever the case, we’re only two years in. If (big IF) it is a S issue this soon, it will be a much bigger issue by years 3+.

Re: Sony Has No Console Exclusivity Over Baldur's Gate 3

lacerz

I wonder how many games are going to have this X/S issue for Xbox. I suppose the developer can target to the X, but that would make the S an outdated system a mere two years into this new generation. This could be a horrible blunder by Microsoft.

Re: Rumour: Sony Saving PS5's Good Stuff for PS Showcase Prior to E3 2023

lacerz

Yes, we have Gran Turismo, God of War and Horizon, but Insomniac has been doing the heavy lifting this “generation”…which is a term that needs to be scrutinized. Do we really have generations now, or are we more akin to PC now, as in minimum and maximum setting requirements?

Regardless, I’d like to know what to look forward to. I’m not asking for a CGI, no gameplay, trailerfest like Xbox pushes out, then doesn’t release anything for years. But something that will release within the next 12 months would be nice.

Re: Reaction: Sony Continues to Fumble the State of Play Format

@nomither6
I'm not complaining about Sony's output so far...and the lack of strictly PS5 games in today's environment is more akin to PC games having multiple settings. I mean, it's not like Sony went Microsoft and released next to nothing. Sony has done well this gen, when Microsoft has just sucked like it did last gen. I just don't know what's next.

Re: Fans and Media Reflect on the PS4's PlayStation Meeting a Decade Later

lacerz

I don’t know if I would call it Sony at the peak of their power. If anything, it was a hard reset from the PS3 era, with the Lessons Learned obvious. 1) Don’t let your competition have a year’s head start and 2) Keep It Simple Stupid. And it paid off, with A LOT of help from Microsoft’s TV! TV! TV! KINECT! KINECT! KINECT! positioning…something Microsoft hasn’t been able to overcome since (plus their meager games lineup over the last 10 years hasn’t helped).

A lot of cool stuff, but this is my fave:

Wireless Device Update for DualSense Wireless Controller. You can now update the DualSense wireless controller device software with a wireless connection. If you have trouble updating the device software wirelessly, connect your controller to your PS5 console using the USB cable to update it. You’ll be able to update wirelessly for the next update.

Re: Rumour: Marvel's Wolverine on PS5 Targeting Mature Rating in Fall 2024

lacerz

Insomniac is how you invest in a developer. Dollar for dollar (or pound for pound), that $229 million investment by Sony has been a goldmine. 2018 Insom released Spider-man, then got purchased by Sony in 2019. Since then, with a (hopefully) once in a lifetime pandemic, they’ve released Miles Morales, a Spider-man upgrade, A Rift Apart, and have Spider-man 2 coming this year and Wolverine next.

Money well spent.

Re: US Government's FTC Will Attempt to Block Microsoft's Activision Buyout

lacerz

Interesting that the Bethesda purchase may end up preventing Microsoft from acquiring Activision.

As for the studios Sony acquires, the majority are small and have long running partnerships with Sony...especially Insomniac. Outside of Sunset Overdrive, they've pretty much been Playstation or PC. Bungie was Sony's only true option to retain a FPS presence if Activision went through.
