Yeah, we don't need Hulst, especially after that 200 million crater he steered into. I'm fine with a Japan controlled PlayStation with international partnerships.
Death note being a social deduction game is a clever choice... the presentation however... Sheesh!
Other than that a truly bargain bin month (even if the games are good, I can pick them up for practically free), and the usual free to play MP game that would be dead on arrival without a playstation push (meaning it'll be dead a few months later). Bad month.
Beyond the obvious choices of Silent Hill and Resident Evil I'd say Still wakes the deep was an amazing surprise and my favourite for the last few years has been Signalis: Signalis delivers the fears as well as great sci-fi and presents some of the heaviest themes I've ever seen in a horror game. The odd German/Asian setting is absolutely unique and don't get me started on the soundtrack! I feel this is one of the games that started the wave of PS1 era style releases we see so many of today like crow country, Alisa and the latest from blumhouse.
This is my preferred version, but I haven't been able to snag one unfortunately here in Europe. It was in my shopping cart and disappeared during checkout.
@get2sammyb bummer, I figured they'd stomp it eventually as it was the only worthwhile reward, so I always took the 5€ when I had enough. 15€ in total.
Not a high price for Sony to get some user engagement and market research data, but I guess still too much for them.
Funny how Sony always wanted a "Halo Killer" and now that they actually have the original studio they refuse to make one, just as well as they refuse to make a new Killzone or Resistance. Main thing they cry like babies about CoD on Xbox.
I dunno, horizon is really impressive overall but story and characters just leave me flat. Killzone's Story usually fell flat too but nothing will replace that feeling of playing Killzone 3 with a sharpshooter in co-op.
@Yagami don't have the time to double down on a 100h RPG. Also heard that the original p5 was less streamlined and therefore a more cumbersome play through than royale. Also still have smt5 vengeance in my backlog that will probably hold me over to a extended metaphor release.
From Software's story's are an uninspired afterthought within a great game. Having me scour through item descriptions isn't a "clever" form of story but just story "fixed in post". There's a reason one of the golden rules of storytelling is "show, don't tell".
Also, in times of ballooning budgets, do we really need another quarter billion dollars, sandbox style jack of all trades? Stick to your guns and expand on it with a focused vision.
From an indie/AA perspective their games were decent and on par or better with what other current horror/walking simulators are offering (definitely better then let's say five nights and the schlocky streamer games), so nothing to talk badly about.
Short sighted customers paving the way for companies taking us out. I basically fund my next new release by selling the previous one, if it's a regular edition there's a bit of a loss, if it's some special edition Steelbook I even manage to sell for a profit occasionally. If I buy second hand there's usually very little to no loss at all.
So my gaming is practically either low cost or self funding while I play all the latest releases, because of the great inconvenience of getting my butt off the couch to switch discs occasionally.
Yeah, 100% digital is so great, sitting on a digital catalogue of games that don't really belong to you and that you're most likely not gonna replay at the speed of new releases these days. Makes sense.
Usually I sell Sony exclusives right after finishing because they're overprinted and loose value fast, and eventually land on plus or a bargain bin when I want to revisit, but I'm holding on to astro. This games just too good to let go.
Actually these classics should be sold by Sony as dem drm free ROMs that function on any emulator. Then we would actually be purchasing games again instead of just licenses.
This is the most asinine and arrogant pat on the back article I've ever read within gaming. I'm happy for bloober and their success. The games a 9 or 10 for me. People who think like this however really got me scratching my head.
@Keyblade-Dan guess you won't see those realistic faces now that you're focusing on the subtitles Surely the more authentic option however and I'll be able to understand the occasional sentence with my rusty Japanese.
@Decoy_Snake I do see where you're coming from, but as now currently reported with steam and most other digital platforms, you're just getting a licence to play which can be revoked. With digital ownership or subscriptions you're between a rock and a hard place. GOG offers DRM free purchases that are yours when downloaded, but they don't have Dino crisis.
If we want to protect our consumer rights the only chance is to vote with our wallets and support physical media. I know it's a inconvenience but that's just how it is. At the same time it's nice to have something you can share with others and resell.
@Vault_Mcfly agree! Druckman, talented as he may be, didn't understand the project assignment (and Max neither). Still liked the game, but it missed the fun and the momentum of the first three. Putting an entire high quality trilogy on one system is an amazing feat. Those games should rather be remade than tlou over and over again.
@ryanburnsred @Max_the_German actually the Uncharted series captures the story structure of serial films from the 20s to 50s and pulp magazines. Where Indiana Jones kept in that era, uncharted imo translated that style successfully to a contemporary setting. Amy Henning is a competent storyteller and that slander concerning her departure is way out of place, especially if you judge the story without understanding (or disregarding) what it's based on.
Plated it yesterday. Absolutely adore this game, and I played all three. I know it sounds like milking the cow, but Sony should really get to work and get quality studios to make various astro bot games. This is Sony's chance to solidify a mascot so strike while the fire's hot!
That's great news. I do prefer using pcsx2, but I do indulge on ps plus premium for the trophies. What I wish however is wide-screen patches for some of these games.
Just watched the first episode. I find the psx era Lara rather grating, and should have just been left in the dustbin of one dimensional characters. As you said so well "goody two shoes" Jonah sounds like a broken record as Laras conscience and zips Humor never lands.
The scene where she's tailing a thief through a completely empty city shows that there wasn't much budget or effort put into it either.
Very excited that something is happening with this underrated franchise. Especially the genesis and PS2 outings (including the female counterpart kunoichi) are fantastic games. Just hope the movie won't end up like some Michael Dudikoff-esque schlock.
@MikeOrator true, Miyazaki games are good, but the fanbase think they have special bragging rights for obsessing a challenging series. So what, ninja gaiden is tough as nails, but I don't see people getting all cultish and condescending over that.
@Northern_munkey i really like the metal gear series, but it's by far not perfect, zone of enders and also his previous work, but death stranding has really got me questioning his auteur status.
The coin related ps stars challenges do not currently activate. I've been trying for a week, doesn't work. Also, why shouldn't I get coins for physical purchases. Works on the switch. Oh yeah, Sony wants to kill physical because they're not making enough money in the bluray business.
So excited to hear about this. Personally I hope for a follow-up that builds heavily on the original, but cuts down the length considerably. Perhaps a 6-10h game with a lower pricetag, where the focus is on keeping the momentum with a good story and high replayability.
Fantastic Easter egg! That "remaster" was very unfortunate. Especially when considering how good sh3 looks with pcsx2 and a texture pack, absolutely gorgeous.
The best part about being "a real gamer" is that you can be miserable about an endless amount of things and never find the time to actually enjoy gaming. People can loose at life so bad.
Woah, it obviously does that what it should be doing. What it also needs to do is be forward compatible, meaning ps6 with slightly degraded performance, but I'm sure that'll be where Sony cuts the line with their "we're moving away from hardware generations" talk. Prove me wrong and I'll consider getting a pro once it's cheaper.
@GamingFan4Lyf agree, other examples of small but great games would be valiant hearts, child of light and grow up. The last smaller scale prince of Persia was also a move in the right direction.
@mrmartinrohr I've still need to witness a movie where I can tell the actual difference between 2k and 4k. Most movies are just upscaled and not natively 4k and special effects are usually still rendered in 2k within Hollywood. The only upgrade I'm happier with so far was lord of the rings, but that was only because the colour grading on the 2k version was hideous and Peter Jackson fixed it for 4k. The res didn't make much of a difference however. I imagine things like planet earth could look better but haven't tested it yet.
Yesss, I knew they could pull it off! Bluepoint aren't the only ones that can do remakes. I think it would be in order for many of the haters to apologise for putting bloober through hell for unsubstantiated reasons.
Hats off and applause!
Monkey paw wish... it'll be based on the Netflix live action series 😓
Seriously though, the game being a new chapter of a past avatar is probably the best way to go and expand the lore. Wouldn't mind a story between Avatar and Korra, but preferably preferably as a animated series and not a comic or a game.
