Re: There Is a God! Netflix Is Bringing Us More Cyberpunk Anime

tameshiyaku

@RoomWithaMoose I wouldn't reduce it to only trigger and nothing else. There are lot's of fantastic studios that can do the cyberpunk universe justice. Production IG just delivered a fantastic Terminator anime (alongside their superb cyberpunk portfolio of psycho pass and ghost in the shell soc) or the studio behind megalobox. Of course trigger again would be great but there definitely are worthwhile alternatives.

Re: Dev Behind PS5, PC Flop Concord Could Close as Director Steps Down

tameshiyaku

Ugh, guess it's time to put on our tinfoil hats because some people are trying to read some left/right agenda into this why this game flopped.
It's a well made, yet generic game that nobody asked for in an insanely oversaturated market.

I think Sony is to blame as it seems they (i.e. Hulst) commissioned this sort of game.

Re: Wind's Howling Through This Netflix The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep Clip

tameshiyaku

@Yagami I'd absolutely love traditional animation or CG movie/series adaptations but most western adults still consider animation to be inferior juvenile media.
That's why Hollywood mostly produces junk like minions and at best Pixar movies that have a bit more to offer than just tranquilizing kids for 90 minutes, but are still very on the nose in comparison to brilliant Ghibli or Momoru Hosoda movies that assume kids are smarter than what Hollywood expects.

As for Yakuza, of course it should be in Japanese, though I'm not such a purist to disregard English dubs completely. If someone enjoys it with dubs so be it as long as they have a good time.
After shows like Tokyo vice and Shogun I'm cautiously optimistic about the Amazon show.

Re: Wind's Howling Through This Netflix The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep Clip

@Yagami I've been hoping for years that Yakuza would get an anime adaptation since I feel it's best suited to juggle the action, the heartfelt drama and the silliness the games are known for. The reason I'm mostly excited for game adaptations (also live action) is that many games have great stories that I know my wife f.e. would enjoy, but I just can't expect everyone being willing to put the 60+ hours into it. Or an RPG where after a slow 20h start you're like "believe me, it'll get good from here on". Requirement is however that you do a good job and respect the source material which many just don't.
Witcher had an okay first season but just crapped all over the books starting season 2, just finished season 3 but there's not much to salvage. It also has a very cheap Xena era look about it which just doesn't cut it these days. Cavill was still one of the better aspects of the show.

Re: PS Vita Fans Want Soul Sacrifice to Return on PS5, PS4 Next

tameshiyaku

@Yagami played it when it was free on psplus back in the days. I actually liked it and put quite a bit of time into it. Tbh monster hunter rise was the first MH I've ever played and it instantly reminded me a lot of when I played soul sacrifice. Perhaps reskin was harsh but instead of soulslike a hunterlike. I think it has similarities when it comes to combat, character creation and classes, upgrading, planning etc... but yeah, with a dark fantasy setting. Could also be that my memory on it is fuzzy as it's been many years.

Re: 13 New PS Plus Extra, Premium Games Available to Download Now on PS5, PS4

tameshiyaku

@TrickyDicky99 perhaps, I haven't payed too much attention which game belongs to which tier and I was mostly excited about the premium classics like jean d'arce, time splitters 2, etc and can't really remember what extra offered.

I do really appreciate day 1 Indies like this month as well as stray and sea of stars. Bad months for me are usually mp only or GaS stuff.

Re: Sony Finally Pulling Bungie's 'Heads Out of Their Asses' Was a Good Thing, Says Ex-Lawyer

tameshiyaku

While some say it was a thought through strategic decision on Sony's side to purchase bungie it feels more like a shot from the hip panic reaction with ms getting Bethesda and Activision (see what that got them). Sony put too much money on the table making this very high risk.

Where was Sony with some spare change when Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal were up for grabs!? CD by then was even experienced (yet not successful) with the game as service model, since that was the big "strategy" Sony was following (which now hit the wall with concord). Beyond that both studios packed huge IPs that are so ingrained into PlayStation's DNA and they were sold off for Millions... not billions like bungie was.

Re: 13 New PS Plus Extra, Premium Games Available to Download Now on PS5, PS4

tameshiyaku

@TrickyDicky99 why? It's a game nobody has yet that looks amazing and lot's of fun oddities worth checking out. Of course they could add a bunch of big name games that those who wanted to play it a release already have played and if not can be grabbed from a bargain bin for cheap, and where's the fun in that.

If Sony currently deserves critique it's for the horrible choices around the ps5 pro and concord.

Re: Sony Boss Says 'PCs Are Difficult to Set Up', Firm Will Focus on PS5

tameshiyaku

@CrashBandicoat of course that goes for every consumer electronic, but the crass difference between the PS4 to pro and the ps5 to pro is extreme, while this gen is not nearly being pushed enough so far. It will just set a bad precedent from here on out that shouldn't be supported.
Scalpers are bad, but people buying from scalpers, man... money can neither buy money or a brain.

Re: Sony Boss Says 'PCs Are Difficult to Set Up', Firm Will Focus on PS5

tameshiyaku

I just want a portable hybrid console, so this makes pc more interesting for me in the future. Have a windows handheld on the go and a egpu dock connected to the TV. If Sony follows suit when the ps6 comes around that would be ideal for me.

However, with the arrogance on display we need to let Sony know that their priorities are set wrong. I hope the pro won't sell well, but I have the suspicion that despite people complaining it'll sell out anyways, because dunno... fomo? Just don't be surprised if the ps6 is a generational half step with a 1000$£€ price tag. Ps5 pro buyers gave Sony the okay for it.

Re: How to Pre-Order PS5 Pro

tameshiyaku

@Pranwell haha. Sony made sure to build in all marginal returns promoted with the original ps5. I guess it's fine/ish if you didn't own a ps5 yet.
I miss the old kaz printing money gif days.

Re: Yakuza Wars Appears to Be a Mobile Game as Social Media Page Spotted

tameshiyaku

The art is not good but legit... just cause kaz has his cig lowered doesn't mean it is growing out of his chin. The fingers are alright as well, which is usually what ai struggles with.

I'm sure we'll have a proper game announced around tgs. This might be a rehash of that Japan only mobile game, then again these licensed mobile spin offs all look the same.

Re: Sony Execs Seem to Think the Company Doesn't Have Enough Original IP

tameshiyaku

@NEStalgia yeah, it's unfortunate.
I'm a huge overall pop culture geek, but the only place where you can tell that is in my movie, game and book collection, nowhere else. I feel like if I'd wear a marvel or star wars t-shirt then Disney should be paying me for advertising their stuff, not the other way around! I'm all in for stories and experiences, everything else is unsubstantial garbage, and the world has enough of that. But instead of acknowledging that they'll just virtue signal some bs green initiative rather than doing the one thing that could actually make a difference, cut down on capitalism.
