I just want solid sequels to beloved IPs with moderate budgets to allow them to be creative and minimize financial risk. The world doesn't need that entire big IP merchandise crap, especially considering the state of the world and how much waste it creates.
If Geoff Keighley really wants to go full Oscar's he should do a slideshow of all the studio shutdowns and live service shutdowns accompanied by sappy music.
@get2sammyb haha, my thoughts as well. Very niche. Though I do remember getting it with psplus and playing it a lot. Great game if you liked the psp Syphon filters.
@Frmknst I don't know the full story here as the article remains fairly vague, but in most cases it's safe to assume the employees have good reason for the actions they're taking and one should generally support workers rights since the majority of the world's population is on the shorter end of the stick. That's an effort many Americans gave up on thanks to union busting and a skewing of the narrative thanks to corporate entanglement in moderate-right politics.
@PuppetMaster I guess it's alright for completionists sake, but the story isn't very memorable and you'll need to have a good amount of patience for the sluggish gameplay.
@PuppetMaster In hindsight I'd only recommend Ac!d 2 since it took all the lessons from the first and improved and streamlined the gameplay immensely. They both have standalone stories (nothing to write home about) so it's fine to skip the first and go straight to the one that's fun to play.
Was really looking forward to some disturbing body horror with survival horror gameplay, but the action focus takes all the scares away. Sorta the same beef why I didn't get into ghostwire Tokyo. I'll keep it on my radar though because I did love the siren games by the same creator.
@Legacy2K Mgs 3 great, but I felt like mgs1 had more fleshed out bosses. Fleshing out the fury, the pain, the fear would be a cool addition if done right. The rest of the bosses are perfect as they are.
I'm nerding out a bit here but I find if they'd redo the matrix (which I hope they don't) I'd change the humans as battery plot, because from a biological standpoint humans passively (brain activity alone) consume more energy than what they'd ever produce. That's been the single thing bugging me about the movie. Have humans be a cluster computer processing things AI could never fathom or something like that.
@Legacy2K yeah, that was a publisher driven mess to get a few bucks back from the fox engines development costs and reusing existing assets. Worst case example and absolutely shameful. Just thinking if Konami could get a good inspired dev team together they could perhaps make something meaningful that could revitalise the series. It won't help the series in the long run to get all purist about it. Remaking the msx games would be a great way to truly get metal gear off the ground again and while at it fix some canon problems along the way.
Sounds fair and I'll probably get it once it has the inevitable ubisoft price drop 1-2 months later. While the reviews are probably fair, I also feel like giving anything star wars something better than slightly above average is considered uncool.
I'm pissed how devs are discouraged. reprimanded or even harassed by so called fans for remaking a game. Snake eater is still a great game, but there are several gameplay aspects that weren't great, even back when it released (first aid, camo, sneaking with dpad, etc). I also dare say saint Kojima also isn't a perfect storyteller, even him recognizing in interviews that there are elements about mgs that he would have retconned and I think it's also fine if others pick up where he left off and tweak it.
I'm tired of all the crap that gets thrown around to team bloober for silent hill and also mgs3 for not being "Kojima enough". Also all the asinine bs that SquareEnix gets for not just making a lazy ff7 remake. I don't know where people get off from, complaining about stuff like "too many mini games" or "this rock in the background has low res textures".
We should rather critique publishers when they're running greedy schemes rather than nitpicking and harassing dev studios.
These days with chips like the Snapdragon X or the new Ryzen ai9 chips, paired with Res upscaling and frame generation ai software one can easily have a current gen experience on a portable device, but Sony slept on that as well.
Imagine a handheld system from Sony with a egpu TV dock.
Visuals don't hold up because the ps5 emulator doesn't hold up. Nethersx2 on a decent android device and I got this going 1440p at a steady 60fps and optionally some post processing this looks like a charm. Leave it to GitHub emu Devs to knock it out of the park.
Brace yourselves for being underwhelmed with a sidenote on psblog.
Anyways, I see a brighter future with portable, low wattage hardware with ai cores to upscale and interpolate frames to pleasing results. Alone a little programme called Lossless Scaling is a testament of the potential of ai upscaling and frame generation. This old school brute force hardware arms race is coming to an end soon and I'm all for it.
I really wished they'd make their premium selection available for mobile platforms, either through stream or emulation. Of course I could just run ROMs and even do retroachievements, but I would love to get ps trophies... kinda silly, I know. I just love playing the classics on the go.
Well, almost every aspect of our wonderful free market society is "managed" by some doofus manager who knows very little to nothing about the subject matter, twists a few numbers in his favour on the expense of others and then moves to the next venture he can exploit, while leaving a wreck behind.
Kojima can pour all his worst impulses into this franchise that once he does his tactical stealth espionage game it's mostly out of his system. Of course it needs a dash of his signature craziness, but I hope it will shape into something coherent.
I'm sure there'll be those who'll continue to complain, just to show the world how refined their purism is, rather than having an honest take on it.
One thing I would like bloober to add however are video filter options, especially grimey dirty CRT and VHS filters. That'll do a lot to get me back to the time when I played the original in the early 2000. Every game should come with filters. It sure gave ghost of Tsushima an amazing Kurusawa feel and adding it here would also give that eerie feel when I first watched the original ring, juon, pulse or cure on VHS.
If a steam deck can run it then I'm sure the PS4 will do fine if optimized well. And more accessibility is always a good thing.
The ongoing last gen support isn't what speaks poorly for this console gen, it's dumb and greedy upper level management which has made this gen a true uninspired dumpster fire.
@Cloud39472 I'm sure part 3 will be great as well, but square needs resounding support (both financially and moral) instead of this entitled crap a loud part of the community dish up. If there are certain game elements that people feel strongly need improvement, they should go to the SquareEnix socials and provide constructive criticism. But if one can't handle not having things their way then just replay the original.
I'm on board with every option, but for the love of goro, please no musou spin off! (though I did like the breath of the wild, persona 5 and fire emblem three houses spin offs) But still, not like a dragon musou!
Uhm, really!? You thought you could half a*s the launch of a new platform and sell well anyways due to your hubris. If you want to sell software you should have let others do the hardware for you and make meta ps5 compatible.
@Cloud39472 I guess "true fans" never like to be challenged in any way and are happy with a lazy redo. It's so annoying how unimaginative some "fans" like to dictate Devs how to do things.
Thanks to that sort of fandom and Disney having no backbone, the MCU and star wars are in the creatively desolate and toothless state they currently in.
SquareEnix should stay true to themselves.
@djape if you'd actually read it within context, it reads as keeping an open mind rather than "I beg you to buy our game, because it's going to be as bad as you think it'll be". So great job stoking the negativity with a thoughtless comment and some for skipping straight to the comments and copying his empty words. Enjoy your negativity clout.
Queens Blood was addictive as crack, and rebirth was perfectly executed. Some peeps just can't be happy with anything except wining about stuff online instead of using constructive criticism for anything.
@naruball uhm, a fair amount of playstation fans! Killzone wouldn't be a flop if it managed to release 6 games. Wouldn't consider resistance a flop either though it was never my cup of tea.
@Specky I think they just kiwami'd the original PS2 games since 3-5's visuals still hold up ok enough to not be too jarring when playing the entire series. I'd rather they remade the PS3 feudal Japan spin off.
I prefer it over survival game, rogue like, hero shooter, looter shooter, asymmetric MP, battle royale, heart wrench indie, ... wait a moment... I guess gaming generally is way too oversaturated at this point. Even some of my niche genres like tactical RPGs and old school survival horror have reached the point where there are too many to care anymore.
I find this game stands out visually because it puts so much emphasis on amazing animation. I wish more studios will finally get that ray tracing and 4k textures won't get you anywhere if your figures move like sock puppets (RoboCop f.e.)
