It's been so long I'll have to replay the original to be up to speed again. It was my absolute favourite however and got me to read the graphic novels which are fantastic.
Actually also enjoyed the game of thrones telltale game. Didn't understand the hate that was getting. The only ttg I regretted getting was tales of the borderlands. The style and humour just didn't click.
I like it. One of the best game art I've ever seen imo is the mural from fire emblem engage, which is odd because the rest of the game looks like cheap anime with toothpaste stains.
Very good, Sony should keep pushing improvements like these. Next step would be to get streaming on mobile apps and sometime in the future their own hybrid handheld.
@Shadcai I was wondering what that was called again in kotor. I remember also enjoying pazaak, but it's no Gwent. I always seem to get hung up on card mini games in RPGs 😅
@Matroska partially, but it just didn't have that mad energy. But then they added blue flames to his fists for heat mode. It covered some story beats but in a very underwhelming way. I think miike also had to work on a super low budget, because I'm sure he's the right man for the job under the right circumstances. They also made a series off of the Yakuza psp games, which wasn't bad actually. I think juggling the serious drama and the silliness would work best in anime, but I'd like to be proven wrong.
On another note... what happened to the like a dragon movie sega announced? Personally I think an anime would be a better fitted format, but if they treat it with the same quality as Tokyo vice and shogun I could see it pan out well.
Whoah... I'm just looking forward to another round of weird product placement that for some reason becomes an integral part of the plot. Anybody else hungry for some olive garden?
That's why it's M/18 and a poor man's game of thrones. Combat gameplay was ok, but everything else... not the direction I want the series to go generally.
@IndoorEnthusiast haha, absolutely! People online just love to bask in meaningless negativity rather than just enjoying the game. If it's not sales numbers, it's some other drivel, just to stir up some controversy and get the people outraged over nothing.
I'm still too busy with FF7 Rebirth and unicorn overlord to really care, but I'm looking forward to zau, animal well and maybe Dave the diver. The rest seems pretty weak.
It's good stuff. Hope they keep expanding the program. I try to get all challenges that reward you with points as long as it doesn't require me to by anything and I've managed to get 10€ credit so far.
@Zenos yeah, kudos to square-enix for actually going above and beyond what it means to remake. Most remakes just give the game a visual makeover which is a pointless exercise, sort of like Gus van Sant's Psycho, because one could just watch the original Hitchcock. Better remakes overhaul the gameplay and add quality of life improvements. FF7 remake does all of that and goes another step further by having a story that sits parallel to the original, while not retconning or disrespecting it. Truly a masterclass.
Maybe people are holding off since the first part came to psplus not too long after release.
Either way, this game is far superior to FF16 (which this site obsessively tried to push) and actually has a lively open world with things to do, while 16 just had barren landscapes and the most boring fetch quests I've ever witnessed. It's like they heard Witcher 3 had great side quests and took the pan quest as an actual example.
@Martijn87 agree, what's the deal here. Haven't reached the ending yet, but if people want ff7 verbatim then they should play the original. I'm having a blast so far and I'm also sure stellar blade will be great as well, but they're too different to compare (except for the vending machines).
Good stuff, but these are all games that are more suitable for on the go. Sony, please finally give us a psplus mobile app, or even better a dedicated handheld device! Make it happen!
Cool, for some reason the games never looked appealing to me but the show looked great from the trailers. Maybe I'll even get around playing one of the games if I like the show.
I'm not shocked about these prices. I'll just do my usual Ubisoft method.
A. In the rare cases that I'm intrigued by a Ubisoft Game sufficiently I get the physical base game at launch.
B. Complete the base story and some side missions.
C. Sell the base game.
D. A few months later after they released the entire dlc, even the ultimate (or whatever they call it) edition will be dirt cheap and piled up on bargain bins, and I'll be ready for the extra content.
Companies can come up with crazy pricing schemes... so what, why get upset... just play it smart
Going gold two weeks before release is what games tend to do, but yeah, it's content. But all snark aside, I'm looking forward to this. Feels like a game release from the PS2 or PS3 era which is just a good feeling.
@get2sammyb great article, thanks! I'll have to tailend akiba on my family trip to Japan and book an extra suitcase for the return flight. Usually avoid shopping when traveling, but I'll have to make an exception for Japan.
@Nintendo4Sonic absolutely! Most people unknowingly grew up with so much amazing stuff from Japan anyways. That might explain why people feel nostalgic about stuff like city pop, even though it's a place and time that we haven't lived in.
Maybe if Devs could focus on that rather than fulfilling a certain crowds "benchmark of pedigree" by being cyber bullied pre- and post launch, we'd see more innovation, with performance which is tailored to what the game has set out to achieve.
Cool to see Mgs acid mentioned though I'd do myself the favour and skip straight to the sequel since they streamlined, and imo perfected the gameplay of the original. I sank so many hours into it.
Graphics maximalism is really hurting gaming. Devs are paying for Sony's (and other tech companies) scheme of incremental innovation, to promote something which is only partially possible, people become accustomed to it and demand it and there Sony comes with the next slightly better iteration. Not sure if 8k will work out for them, but I assume the next "standard" will be the false promise of 120 FPS and RT in every game.
This is crazy but also really cool. I didn't know that 13 sentinels was also psvita (though only Japan). That means that a good chunk of vanilla wares library was available on the psvita. I'm just really grateful that studios like them and publishers like sega/atlus are still around and thriving in this current industry.
Looking forward to both. I really hope that the next astro bot will be flat and vr since barely anybody has a psvr2 and I want team asobi to be successful, as they are practically team Japan.

I cringed so hard reading this, I think it broke my spine.
Re: Alien: Rogue Incursion Confirmed for PSVR2, Out This Year
Happy that it's on quest 3, but they shouldn't even bother with a trailer like this.

@Matroska I know, the one by Mike, but that was somewhat underwhelming.
