Re: The Wolf Among Us 2 Surfaces, Offering Screenshots

It's been so long I'll have to replay the original to be up to speed again. It was my absolute favourite however and got me to read the graphic novels which are fantastic.

Actually also enjoyed the game of thrones telltale game. Didn't understand the hate that was getting. The only ttg I regretted getting was tales of the borderlands. The style and humour just didn't click.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Film Casts Shadow, Voiced by Keanu Reeves

@Matroska partially, but it just didn't have that mad energy. But then they added blue flames to his fists for heat mode. It covered some story beats but in a very underwhelming way. I think miike also had to work on a super low budget, because I'm sure he's the right man for the job under the right circumstances.
They also made a series off of the Yakuza psp games, which wasn't bad actually.
I think juggling the serious drama and the silliness would work best in anime, but I'd like to be proven wrong.

Re: Stellar Blade's Demo Had Way More Daily Active Players Than Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's

tameshiyaku

@Zenos yeah, kudos to square-enix for actually going above and beyond what it means to remake. Most remakes just give the game a visual makeover which is a pointless exercise, sort of like Gus van Sant's Psycho, because one could just watch the original Hitchcock.
Better remakes overhaul the gameplay and add quality of life improvements.
FF7 remake does all of that and goes another step further by having a story that sits parallel to the original, while not retconning or disrespecting it. Truly a masterclass.

Re: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Has Sold Around 2 Million Copies, PS5 Player Data Suggests

Maybe people are holding off since the first part came to psplus not too long after release.

Either way, this game is far superior to FF16 (which this site obsessively tried to push) and actually has a lively open world with things to do, while 16 just had barren landscapes and the most boring fetch quests I've ever witnessed. It's like they heard Witcher 3 had great side quests and took the pan quest as an actual example.

Re: Two Star Wars Outlaws Expansions Will Arrive After PS5 Launch

I'm not shocked about these prices. I'll just do my usual Ubisoft method.

A. In the rare cases that I'm intrigued by a Ubisoft Game sufficiently I get the physical base game at launch.

B. Complete the base story and some side missions.

C. Sell the base game.

D. A few months later after they released the entire dlc, even the ultimate (or whatever they call it) edition will be dirt cheap and piled up on bargain bins, and I'll be ready for the extra content.

Companies can come up with crazy pricing schemes... so what, why get upset... just play it smart

Re: Despite Flagging Physical Software Sales, PS5's Retail Presence Is Still Strong in Japan

tameshiyaku

@get2sammyb great article, thanks! I'll have to tailend akiba on my family trip to Japan and book an extra suitcase for the return flight. Usually avoid shopping when traveling, but I'll have to make an exception for Japan.

@Nintendo4Sonic absolutely! Most people unknowingly grew up with so much amazing stuff from Japan anyways. That might explain why people feel nostalgic about stuff like city pop, even though it's a place and time that we haven't lived in.

Re: Most PS5 Players Say 60fps Is a Must

tameshiyaku

higher FPS ≠ better gameplay

better gameplay = better gameplay... at any FPS

Maybe if Devs could focus on that rather than fulfilling a certain crowds "benchmark of pedigree" by being cyber bullied pre- and post launch, we'd see more innovation, with performance which is tailored to what the game has set out to achieve.

Re: Poll: How Much Do You Care About 60fps on PS5?

tameshiyaku

Graphics maximalism is really hurting gaming. Devs are paying for Sony's (and other tech companies) scheme of incremental innovation, to promote something which is only partially possible, people become accustomed to it and demand it and there Sony comes with the next slightly better iteration. Not sure if 8k will work out for them, but I assume the next "standard" will be the false promise of 120 FPS and RT in every game.
