Topic: Assassin's Creed Shadows

I am a big fan of Assassins Creed games so am looking forward to the release anyone else here definitely going to buy it?

I have a lot of mixed emotions here.

I'm old enough to have been a teenager when this franchise first started, but stealth games have never been for me, so I dabbled in the first few of them and then basically bounced off for decades until probably around the time of Valhalla's release? Where I went back to Odyssey, played it all the way through and absolutely loved it. I thought I would love the whole RPG trilogy (Origins and Valhalla) but I feel like they both changed the formula Odyssey so near perfectly tuned (imo of course) enough where I didn't like them as much.

So if this is going to be basically AC Valhalla but in Japan, I might end up giving this a miss - at least on launch. Ubisoft games seem to always be on a deep discount after about three days and so assuming it is at least a solid 7 out of 10, I may as well grab it on a discount.

However, it feels especially challenging for me personally to get excited for Shadows when we've already had Rise of the Ronin, the shadow drop of Samurai Warriors 4 on PC and also Ghost of Tsushima's PC Port all within a matter of months. Why did Shadows pick this year?!

I've got every Assassin's Creed game until now. This will be my very first skip. As Ubisoft decided to put DRM on their physical copies, I will not buy the game.

Maybe they will do a re-print later but that is not likely.

Yeah I buy them all these days tbh. I initially hated the series after playing the original at release back in 2007 and then never actually played another one until I gave Odyssey a go in 2019 and loved it so much that I’ve been working my way through the whole series ever since.

I've not played one since Origins and I've not had the urge to play any of the others, so probably won't be getting this one anytime soon.

Yeah, definitely into it. Played the series since the beginning so I'm pretty partial to it. I've generally moved away from buying special editions of anything, so it'll just be the standard version for me. And probably at a later date, too. Ubisoft games are hard to justify as a day one purchase unless I'm desperate to play.
