@aegeannt This question feels like a puzzle, so I couldn’t resist 😅. A brief scan over the PSP games list had me come up with:

M.A.C.H. - I don’t think this is it because it looks like it’s a flight combat game

SWAT Target Liberty - a tactical shooter, so probably not

Z.H.P. Unlosing Ranger VS. Darkdeath Evilman - This might fit your description better, although it looks like a rogue-like dungeon crawler but you can change NPCs out at you home base… so, maybe?

This is what happens when you allow the five year old to name your villain.

Currently Playing: Yakuza Kiwami 2 (PC); Unicorn Overlord (NS)

@Ralizah 🤣 Also sounds like they used an AI generator to make the title.

@aegeannt There's the PSP port of TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) from 2007. Only other guess is if it's actually a PS1 title ported on PSP.

Yeah mostly SWAT or others came to mind on other platforms.

The booth character changer is throwing me off. Trying to remember games that have one. Makes me think of other games.

Sounds like you got ideas from other games and think it connects to this one (which can happen when we think a bunch of ideas or it's blurry but maybe it is from the game your referring to it's just unclear what it's called among some games).

There is always the Wikipedia page listing all PSP games and seeing what abbreviations there are. It's boring but it gives you a list to check through titles.

I worked out many of the games I forgot other than the horror somewhat X Files like one with I think a kitchen and some other thing for PS2. Everything else of Scaler, Forza Motorsport 1, Colin McCrae Rally 3 & 4, Spy vs Spy, Galactic Battlegrounds on PC, Battle Engine Aquila, Blinx 1, Voodoo Vince, Kya Dark Lineage, Vexx, Zapper One Wicked Cricket, and more I've remembered over time.

Did ChatGPT get it?

ChatGPT
Based on your description, it sounds like you're referring to the game "Tekken: Dark Resurrection" for the PlayStation Portable (PSP). In the game, you can change characters at the Character Customization screen, and the short form of the game's name has four letters with dots between them: "T.E.K.K.E.N."

User
No, i said it has 4 letters. Tekken has 6.

ChatGPT
Apologies for the misunderstanding. The game you're referring to might be "Dissidia: Final Fantasy" for the PSP. The short form of the game's name is "D.I.S.S." with dots between the letters, and it features combat gameplay where you can change characters.

User
Anymore you can think of?

ChatGPT
Another possibility could be "G.H.O.S.T." which stands for "Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex." It's a PSP game where you can change characters and engage in combat.

User
Just list them all

ChatGPT
Here are some PSP games that fit your criteria:

"D.I.S.S." - Dissidia: Final Fantasy
"G.H.O.S.T." - Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
"N.O.V.A." - N.O.V.A. Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance
These are the ones that match your description of having four letters with dots between them and featuring combat gameplay with character switching. Let me know if any of these match the game you're thinking of!

That was a good suggestion @kyleforrester87. I went with ChatGPT too @aegeannt and it veered off with the four word rule, but could be potentially what you're looking for since the four-word/letter count seems to no longer apply:

I'm looking for a video game that was released on the PSP, PlayStation portable. The game title was four words that could be spelled into an acronym. There were booths that you can change characters from. The characters were agents or a team with the gameplay featuring combat.

ChatGPT
Based on your description, the game you're looking for is likely "Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops" for the PlayStation Portable (PSP). The title can be abbreviated as "MGSPO." In the game, players can recruit and manage a team of agents, change characters at booths, and engage in tactical combat missions.

- after some back and forth with corrections + tailoring-

ChatGPT: Certainly! Here's a list of PSP games that fit your description of having a four-word title that can be spelled into an acronym and feature booths where characters can be switched and engage in combat:

Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops (MGSPO)
Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror (SFDM)
Socom: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo (Socom: FTB)
X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse (XML2 or XMLII)
