In this Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Trophy roadmap, we're going to reveal how to get the Platinum Trophy in Eidos Montreal's original take on the famous, charismatic group of heroes. In this Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy guide, we are going to reveal all the Trophies, their descriptions, and strategies for unlocking them all. We will also share a Trophy roadmap, which will reveal the general order in which you should approach the Trophies.
Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: How to Get the Platinum Trophy
It's fairly easy to unlock the Platinum Trophy for Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy inside a single playthrough, but you need to be on the lookout and using our guides for collectibles at all times. That's because, while there is a Chapter Select option, the game doesn't save your progress once you quit. Therefore, if you pick up a collectible through Chapter Select, it won't be counted. If you miss an Outfit or don't collect enough Guardian Collectibles, you will have to start a New Game+ run to pick them up afterwards. You don't need to play on any specific difficulty level at least, so feel free to choose what you feel most comfortable with.
You'll need to find all of the Outfits and half of the Guardian Collectibles to get the Platinum Trophy, and you can find guides to each collectible type through the following links: Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: All Outfit Locations and Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: All Guardian Collectibles Locations.
Other Trophies you should be focusing on during your playthrough are the combat-related ones. They require you to use abilities to defeat a certain number of enemies, so if you want to avoid a short grind at the end of the game via Chapter Select, we recommend reading up on what's required so you know what to activate as and when you can.
Read through the Trophy breakdown below to get a grasp of what you need to do in order to unlock the Platinum Trophy, and then use our Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy guide to ensure you 100 per cent the game and unlock every Trophy.

Self-Improvement
Bronze: Purchase your first Star-Lord Ability
As you complete combat encounters, you'll earn XP. When you fill the entire bar, you'll be awarded an ability point. Once you've earned enough of them, head into the pause menu and purchase a Star-Lord ability to unlock the Trophy.
Dynamic Team
Bronze: Invest in at least one Special Ability for Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot
Just like the Self-Improvement Trophy, you'll now need to turn your attention to your teammates. Once you have enough ability points, buy an ability for each of the other Guardians and the Trophy will unlock.
Fully Loaded
Bronze: Invest in all Special Abilities for all Companions
Throughout the story, you should earn more than enough ability points to unlock every ability for Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot. However, this Trophy is also tied to story progress. Each Guardian's most powerful ability is unlocked at specific points in the story, so if you've purchased all the other skills, just keep playing and you'll eventually unlock the final ones.
Flash Freeze
Bronze: Acquire the Ice Element for Star-Lord's guns
This weapon ability is tied to story progress. You'll automatically gain the skill and Trophy during Chapter 3.
Shock and Awe
Bronze: Acquire the Lightning Element for Star-Lord's guns
This weapon ability is tied to story progress. You'll automatically gain the skill and Trophy during Chapter 7.
Fan Friction
Bronze: Acquire the Wind Element for Star-Lord's guns
This weapon ability is tied to story progress. You'll automatically gain the skill and Trophy during Chapter 10.
Lava Launcher
Bronze: Acquire the Plasma Element for Star-Lord's guns
This weapon ability is tied to story progress. You'll automatically gain the skill and Trophy during Chapter 13.
Pick Me Up
Bronze: Revive a fallen team member
Every so often, a teammate will take too much damage and be placed in a down state with a red icon above their head. When you see this, run up to them and hold the Triangle button. You'll revive the Guardian and unlock the Trophy.
Stagger Swagger
Bronze: Stagger 25 enemies
The stagger meter is placed just below an enemy's health bar, and you'll need to fill up 25 of them over the course of the story to unlock this Trophy. An easy way of doing this would be to use Drax's abilities, which specialise in staggering an enemy.
No Way, Nova Corps
Bronze: Interrupt a Nova Centurion with Gamora's Call to Action
You'll encounter Nova Centurions during Chapter 7. They're the strong, blue enemies with jetpacks. A Call to Action is the move performed when the Triangle prompt appears above an enemy's head, generally when they're either weak or staggered.
The game seemingly chooses the Guardian who will perform the Call to Action, so there's no guarantee it'll actually be Gamora doing it when you press Triangle. Therefore, if she doesn't perform the Call to Action, reload a previous checkpoint and try again.
Slakebuster
Bronze: Interrupt a Slakebeast with Drax's Call to Action
Slakebeasts are the blue creatures with squid-like faces that you encounter during Chapter 3. Just like the No Way, Nova Corps Trophy, look out for the Triangle prompt above the animal's head and hope it's Drax that performs the Call to Action. If it's someone else, reload a checkpoint and try again.
Groot Canal
Bronze: Interrupt a Charger with Groot's Call to Action
Chargers can be found in both Chapter 10 and Chapter 13; they're called Ogrode in the former and Wendigos in the latter. Just like the previous two Trophies, you'll now need to trigger a Call to Action using Groot. Whether he is used or not is once again entirely luck dependent, so keep on reloading checkpoints if it's not Groot performing the move.
Drax the Dismemberer
Bronze: Dismember an Inquisitor with Drax's Call to Action
Inquisitors are the tall, robot enemies with laser eyes you find in Chapter 7. Like the other three Trophies, look for the Triangle prompt above its head when weakened and hope that it's Drax who answers the Call to Action. If it's not, reload the checkpoint and try again.
Unstoppable Force
Bronze: Attain the maximum possible Momentum 10 times
The Momentum gauge is the meter placed on the lefthand side of the HUD during combat. You can fill it by activating abilities and killing enemies. Fill it completely 10 times to unlock the Trophy.
The Crowd Goes Wild
Bronze: Execute a Flair Attack 10 times
A Flair Attack is the move performed when you press Triangle and Circle at the same time, with the prompt hovering above an enemy's head when they're close to death. Perform 10 Flair Attacks and you'll unlock the Trophy.
Set 'em Up, Knock 'em Down
Bronze: Defeat 15 Staggered enemies with a Charged Shot
Use Drax's abilities to stagger an opponent, and then kill them with a Charged Shot. You can trigger a Charged Shot by pressing R2 quickly twice and holding the button after the second press. You'll then fill a small meter, and the Charged Shot will be ready once filled. Kill 15 enemies using this method to unlock the Trophy.
Bullet Hell
Bronze: Defeat 15 enemies with Star-Lord's Fan the Hammer ability
Star-Lord's Fan the Hammer ability is activated by pressing Triangle after holding down the left thumbstick. The ability turns Star-Lord into a sort of stationery turret, increasing the firing rate and damage of his blasters for a limited time. Use the ability on weak enemies and you'll have killed 15 of them in no time, thus unlocking the Trophy.
Adding Injury to Insult
Bronze: Defeat 10 enemies affected by Drax's Wrath of Katath ability
Drax's Wrath of Katath ability is unlocked through story progress; it's the purple skill on the HUD that's activated by holding L1 and then pressing Square. The ability will immediately stagger most enemies, so finish them off while they're in that state.
Trained to Perfection
Bronze: Defeat 10 enemies with Gamora's Executioner ability
Gamora's Executioner ability is another purple skill unlocked by playing the story. This deals a huge amount of damage to a single enemy, so either have her use it on a normal opponent or weaken one that's a little stronger before unleashing Gamora.
Boom Show
Bronze: Defeat 20 enemies with Rocket's Five Barrel Barrage
Rocket's Five Barrel Barrage ability is also his special skill unlocked through story progression. Once activated, Rocket pulls out the big guns and deals a ton of damage to a wide area. Make sure some standard enemies are nearby and you'll have this Trophy unlocked in no time at all.
Herbal Remedy
Bronze: Revive or Heal Companions 10 times with Groot's Gift of the Florae
Groot's Gift of the Florae ability is unlocked quite late in the story, so you may not have chance to use it all that much while playing through the story naturally. All you need to do is activate whenever another Guardian is either down or needs healing, so do so when you spot that happening. If you haven't managed it 10 times before the end of the game, load up one of the final chapters through chapter select on the main menu and you can grind it out that way.
Altitude Adjustment
Bronze: Defeat 20 enemies with Star-Lord's Eye of the Hurricane
Star-Lord's Eye of the Hurricane ability is activated by first holding the left thumbstick and then pressing Circle. Upon activation, Star-Lord jumps into the air and throws a few grenades beneath him. The ability isn't quite strong enough to wipe out a full health bar, so weaken some enemies before gathering them up and unleashing the skill.
Killer Friendship
Bronze: Execute an Auto-Combo with Gamora
An Auto-Combo is activated when you use a melee attack on an enemy over and over again whilst next to another Guardian. When you're near both an enemy and Gamora, mash the Square button and Gamora should join in for an Auto-Combo.
Katathian Handshake
Bronze: Execute an Auto-Combo with Drax
An Auto-Combo is activated when you use a melee attack on an enemy over and over again whilst next to another Guardian. When you're near both an enemy and Drax, mash the Square button and Drax should join in for an Auto-Combo.
Aim Assist
Bronze: Execute an Auto-Combo with Rocket
An Auto-Combo is activated when you use a melee attack on an enemy over and over again whilst next to another Guardian. When you're near both an enemy and Rocket, mash the Square button and Rocket should join in for an Auto-Combo.
Timber!
Bronze: Execute an Auto-Combo with Groot
An Auto-Combo is activated when you use a melee attack on an enemy over and over again whilst next to another Guardian. When you're near both an enemy and Groot, mash the Square button and Groot should join in for an Auto-Combo.

Lore Hoarder
Silver: Collect 65% of all Galactic Compendium entries of each category
The vast majority of the categories that make up the Galactic Compendium are filled in automatically as you visit new places, interact with other people, and generally explore the universe. However, the likes of the Guardian Collectibles make up the Items category, so you'll need to find the majority of those to unlock the Trophy. You'll also need to pick up the majority of the text logs spread throughout the game.
Galactic Frugality
Bronze: Pay your Nova Corps fine
This is a missable Trophy that plays out over the course of a few different Chapters. During Chapter 4, you'll visit Lady Hellbender and either sell Groot to her or raid her vault. Both options give you more than enough Galactic Units to pay the fine later on, but what you need to watch out for is the Knowhere marketplace in Chapter 6. Here you're allowed to freely explore the area and spend your Galactic Units. If you spend too many of them, you won't have enough to pay the fine during Chapter 9. Therefore, we recommend keeping at least 8,000 Galactic Units on your person at all times; if you spend too much in the Knowhere marketplace then you won't be able to pay the fine later on,
If you spend too much on your first playthrough, you can use Chapter Select and play through the game, starting at Chapter 6. Don't buy anything at the marketplace, and then you can continue playing through until Chapter 9, eventually unlocking the Trophy.
Eat It, Rodent
Bronze: Win the best against Rocket
During the first chapter in the Quarantine Zone, Rocket will challenge you to see who can shoot the most of a specific type of colourful plant. They protrude out of the wreckage throughout the area, and a HUD element at the top of your screen will track the score. Simply shoot more than Rocket and you'll win the bet, thus unlocking the Trophy.

"If you spend too much on your first playthrough, you can use Chapter Select and play through the game, starting at Chapter 6. Don't buy anything at the marketplace, and then you can continue playing through until Chapter 9, eventually unlocking the Trophy."
This does not work. When you replay chapters, if the consequence of the decision is within the same chapter, you can choose the other option and see the outcome of it. However, this is not the same for decisions where the consequences aren't seen until later chapters. For example, there is a decision you make in the third chapter that doesn't come to fruition until the fourth chapter. Regardless of whether you replay Chapter Three and change your decision, when you replay Chapter Four, you will still be locked into your original decision. Chapter select gets overwritten if you start a new game. The game will always store the most current 'version' of a playthrough.
