Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Essential Games for July 2024?

Yeah, this would be a "none of them, tbh" month for me. Just not interested in these games.
Among Us is a fun one though. Now you don't have to convince friends to buy it to play with them, so that's a positive imo, but I won't download any of these.

Ps. Sports are just a waste. People interested already have them and they drop value like crazy. They're just factory made and by the time they're on Plus, the next one's out soon and nobody cares anymore. I'd rather have a unique indie game in there instead of this crap

Months like this remind me how grateful I am that I canceled my PS+ subscription.

They really do suck. Worse than last month but it's very close. I'm hoping they're saving up something good for next month.

Haven't played any of them so not a bad month at all.

I'll add them to my library but I probably won't play them.

As I said when they were announced they're not to my personal taste but at least its 3 games that I've actually heard of for a change

I don't have NHL so I'll give it a download. Plus month games aren't to supplement my library. So I'm fine with these type month

Probably the worst month I've seen in awhile.

I have Borderlands 3 on PC, where I own all the other Borderlands games, so I'm not exactly upset about having that game on PlayStation, too, but it's not giving me any value. I have no interest in Among Us or NHL. I also don't have weirdly high expectations for my ~$7, though.

I want to play Borderlands 3 for ages now, so I will, soon.

Might give Borderlands 3 another go at some point. Bounced off it hard at release, despite enjoying the first two. Other than that, it's nice to know I have an ice hockey game sitting there in case I ever get the urge.

Me, I haven't played Borderlands 3 yet. Been flirting with buying the Ultimate Edition every time it's £25 though.

This is the first month in recent memory where I won’t be adding anything to my collection. All uninteresting to me.

Its ok selection.but my backlogs of video games is huge.so its all good.im having fun.word up son

it’s a weak selection for sure but, the july extra and premium games could make up for it

but i have a piece of advice, keep your expectations tempered

Borderlands 3 is a great game and people are being really unfair to it.

@donv2135 A few reason. I like to stay informed, for one, but I also care about the gaming community, especially the Sony community. I used to be subscribed, but I felt it wasn't worth my money once Sony raised the price, and even before them, too. It's nice letting people know the grass is greener once you stop paying for it.

Not really, especially since Among Us is basically free at this point.

I would have played Borderlands 3 if I hadn't already, it's a good game so not a terrible month just for that. Might play some hockey but probably wont. Among Us is a joke though - regularly a couple of quid in the sale.

None for me but I will never understand why people seem to sub for the games? I've always subscribed for online and the decent discounts you get, never for the bonus games. Still each to their own. Also while I also understand the cost issue I look at it that's it less than 1 meal at Mc Donalds a month. In fact it's only slightly more than magazines began to cost in the mid 2000's. Hell official Dreamcast magazine used to cost 6 quid in 2001 😭

Essential has been bad to crap for last couple of months. Hope they pick it up back sooner rathen than later.

Wouldn't be surprised if they take away these free games soon anyway. The more people whinge about the games each month not being to their personal expectation, the more likely they make the lowest tier just for online play and cloud saves only.

At this stage, I'd just like a cheaper PlayStation Plus subscription, with no games, just for online, promotions and cloud saves...

Not great. I’ll try NHL though, haven’t played a hockey game other than the Dreamcast ones and 94 on the Mega Drive.

A fine month, nice and varied. What every month should be imo. A small indie, a AAA shooter and a sports title, and all 3 pretty well received critically. You can never please everyone but surprised reception is so negative tbh.

I know that this does not add to the discussion, but I let the sub lapse. I may subscribe again when I need the cloud saves in a couple of months, unless they patch a way to back up PS5 saves via USB which they probably won't.

Among us costs £3.29 at full price. Its a joke that this is one of the games.

Its a good month for me. I beat borderlands 3 but get the option to play nhl after 4 years of not playing, and tho its only $5 might a fun night or 2 to get people to play among us

Ones £3.50 new. Ones always on sale and already on extra. The other is a sports title that is niche outside of America and Canada and would have been bought already by anyone who wanted it

@Meowmixes98 it’s a terrible borderlands game. pretty much worse than 2 in every way except the usual gameplay improvement

@Stale-Bread because subbing for online is a scam , people look forward to the “free” games as compensation for being ripped off for paying to use their own & already paid for internet for multiplayer

Not great tbh, but I don't really expect much; just subscibe for online play.

Happy as no more added to back log as own BL3 and can drop in and out of nhl hockey whenever I feel like it

I’m part of the 2% that doesn’t have PS+ so that’s how I voted but these games do make me happy that I’m not paying for it. 😁

I'm one of those who hasn't played Borderlands 3. In fact, I haven't played any of them . I don't find them appealing in any way, from the art style to the general vibe.

I might have been interested in Borderlands 3, if I didn’t already have it, and gotten bored of it after less than 10 hours

Among Us is well known or free or whatever cheap price. Any other Indie is more worth putting for the money. It's a fair game but I mean something different would be better.

Borderlands 3 people know if they want it or not and if getting around to it now by all means, even besides the eh writing it's fair gameplay improvements but prefer Tiny Tina.

Sports, it being Hockey aside even if it were EA FC or Madden or Golf or Boxing/Wrestling or whatever it's so low value or quality till the next one when if Sony REALLY tried they'd offer one of the arcade/fantasy ones by Indies as a better offer then the EA sim ones are these days

That or a party game or something else should have been offered but nope Sony and the casual crowd offering this month.

They are desperate and can't find any other offerings this month quite surprising, even a VR game is more worth it then Among Us or sim sports, what they have cycled through or other games haven't gone down in value/worth offering yet according to other publishers it seems. Hmm.

I don't even sub but I know people that do I just look out of curiosity.

I swear me and my kids played this last year on tablets and mobile.

Non of then are worth my time, I'll give nhl a try just because I did used enjoy hockey games but I could take it or leave it.

I'll wait to see what extra has to offer.

Signed up for premium aswel only because it was cheap for the remainder of my subscription but wow such a let down.

@Meowmixes98 borderlands 3 is a superb shooter. B2 was my personal fave but anybody who says B3 is rubbish needs their head checking.

@donv2135 probably the same reason pushsquare ask this every month so the same fake outragers can tell everybody that its a rip off system and its always rubbish every month blah,blah,blah..if you don't like it then fine but please tell us once and move on as we don't need to hear it every month.

I've had BL3 on PC for months Epic gave it away for free about 4 months ago I think, it's not that good to be honest compared to BL1 and 2. Sports games just not interested in should have given a few extra to select like sports tier or 2 other games it you select that tier the sports games are taken away.

I'll be downgrading to the lowest tier right now I don't play anything from the stuff they give me I just play SP games and Helldivers 2

This is a good reminder for me to turn off auto renew on ps+. I paid for a year, I'm not sure when exactly, but it's been a ***** few months in a row

What I find hilarious is I see comments here that claimed months ago they were cancelling the service yet here they are commenting the same thing again

It's quite frustrating when you own most of the games. Also, I haven't played an NHL game since 1995 on the SNES...so, just maybe, I might try this NHL game....maybe.

I'm kinda happy for a weird reason. Been wanting to play an NHL game again but heard they're not great the last few years and didn't want to spend money. So I'll take it.

These polls are getting tiresome as it’s the same people saying the same thing over and over. It’s crap, won’t be renewing my membership blah blah. We get it you’re miserable. I have two of the 3 and the nhl game will be a paste and copy of earlier versions which I have but in no way is it a crap month for games

@Gremio108 The humour is at an all time low on this one, coupled with the least interesting villains in the series. The gameplay is the only redeeming feature, but the characters are also hardly as good as in the previous 2. I rushed to complete it and was glad to trade it in.

@Bizzy I wish they would. I only pay for the essential tier, and only to play online. If it was free (like it used to be) - or at least cheaper- I'd be delighted and would happily take that over an increased cost and crap games every month. 😉

This might be the worst month I'm personally aware of. Among Us is already cheap, Borderlands 3 is mediocre (and old), and NHL is...well, it's a sports game.

@J2theEzzo Don't get mw wrong, the series was never the height of satire, but in the third one it felt like they confused "jokes" with "people shouting random things"

@Artois2 I don't take to mean it as in "these games are crap", but by crap selection, thinking that if only every 1/3 people decide to download a game (because they either have the others, or aren't interested, regardless), then that's pretty crap? If I decide to download 2 games out of 3, or people on average decide to download and play 2/3, then that's pretty good, and if by some wonder all 3 games are so good that literally everyone downloads them, and wants to play them, that's a miracle.

I feel like probably for every person downloading a game, maybe there's 1 you like or want to play. (Personally 0 for me, but irrelevant) So 1/3 isn't really that good?

@J2theEzzo Knowing modern business practises, it will still be £60 (or $/euro equivalent) but no added games. With a steady creeping price increase once a year.

Honestly my game library is at a point where I have so much to play and they could put anything in there and I probably won't play it, still I hope those who care about these games enjoy them

I'd rather have seen MLB than NHL, and Borderlands is washed up imo. I'll try this NHL but I haven't been a fan of them recently.

Wow, not one is interesting to me personally, and for general public doesn't seem great either, nhl is kinda niche and probably owned by people that want it, borderlands has been played into the ground, and among us is really only any good with friends, played it before and its random taking random guesses plus it's passed its golden era now anyway. Unfortunately I'll not be playing any of these.

@B_Lindz my ps+ membership just so happened to end the month it increased. I resubscribed 12 months prior to get the Like A Dragon game that I wanted to try and honestly I don't think much better came out to tempt me back.
Like you, I keep an eye on things I could be missing out on but so far I'm delighted to see things haven't really improved!

knack 2 would have been way less costly than any of these for sony.

I might try Borderlands 3. I've played about ten hours of it on my Switch. It's a great port, but you know...looks pretty rough. The tone of the comedy is not for me, but I just muted the dumb voices and enjoyed the shooting. I always start Borderlands on a high, but after a while juggling all of the weapons between inventory space and comparing stats wears me out.

Borderlands 3, despite the worst main villains ever put in anything (omega cringe) is really fun! Among us is gonna be an interesting thing to try on console. I check out all the NHL games for some couch co-op when they get added to services like this or EA play, so I'm happy for myself and others

Great a game that we already had on game pass,( borderlands 3)one that free on mobile and not worth the €5 on ps and a hockey game. Worst month yet.seems were paying more and getting less all the time now

Borderlands 3 is okay but best to use the mute button because dear lord some of the characters are insufferable. Among Us is $4 and had its peak 3 - 4 years ago, and I don’t know how many care about hockey. It’s uh, not the best…

@B_Lindz My Premium runs out May 2029, then I will drop to the low one. Shame I can't do it now but I paid for it months ago.
