It's crazy to think we're almost halfway through 2023, isn't it? That means we've had six of these PS Plus Essential polls throughout the year already, but June's line up might just be one of the most divisive selections yet.
In case you missed the news, subscribers are getting three games across both PS5 and PS4 this month: basketball sim NBA 2K23, park-builder Jurassic World Evolution 2, and atmospheric action title Trek to Yomi. There's certainly some variety on offer here — Sports! Dinosaurs! Samurai! — but we're sure that an NBA headline act won't sit well with everyone.
We're not here to tell you what to think, though. As per usual, we want you to come to your own conclusions and share them in our polls, and in the comments section below.
Are you happy with your PS Plus Essential games for June 2023? (7,034 votes)
- Yes, very happy
- Yeah, mostly happy
- Meh, they're okay
- Nah, I'm not happy
- No, it's a crap selection
- I don't have PS Plus0.9%
Which June 2023 PS Plus Essential game are you most looking forward to? (6,145 votes)
- Jurassic World Evolution 2
- NBA 2K23
- Trek to Yomi
- None of them, to be honest
- I don't have PS Plus0.8%

There is nothing for me this month. That being said, I don't think it is a bad selection per se. Just nothing I am personally interested in.
Not really, first time I can remember that I'm not interested in any of them.
Still a strong set of additions though.
Trek to yomi..looks good and even better being free 👍
Not a good selection for me personally but I'll give Trek to yomi a go.
Im definitely downloading trek to yomi.word up son
This is a great month for me. I loved the first Jurassic World Evolution, but never picked up the sequel. Trek to Yomi also managed to fly under my radar.
All of these are the kind of games I'll be very interested to try but would never buy myself, so this is perfect selection for me. This is why I like these free games.
I'm not happy, but I wouldn't say I'm unhappy with them either. They're just sort of there, like telegraph poles.
Unfortunately I already own JW:E2 and I don't really care about the other offerings but I suggest people give the game a shot. It might seem like one of those complex management games but it's actually presented in a pretty simple way. Plus you can always just let the dinos roam free and wreak havoc if you don't want to learn how to play it.
Absolute garbage but u know what u can't please everyone every month.just as well I have ps extra them
This is my renewal month, so I guess I’m not resubbing
Trek to Yomi's the kind of game that I was always deciding whether to buy or not every time it was on sale. Getting it via Plus settles the matter and saves me some money, so that's nice. I'll probably start it as soon as they give it away.
I don't care about the other two games, but 1 out of 3 is good enough for an Essential drop.
Looked at buying JW:E2 only last week glad I didn't, so happy with that. Trek to Yomi looks interesting and NBA not that bothered about although I'll give it a go, may surprise me but I doubt it. On the whole good month for me
One of the worst months I've seen I awhile. Trek to Yomi is the only decent one.
Jurassic World will be the first game I've added to my collection in at least a year but god knows ows when I'll get round to it. I'm having way too much fun on Zelda and Street Fighter
I don't know tbh. Never really played sports games (especially given how predatory they are these days) and the whole Jurassic World thing sounds like a by the numbers licensed game to profit off brand recognition.
Wouldn't mind Jurassic world evolution, but not had ps plus for a few months now, and can honestly say not missing it, as I can see they haven't improved with their offerings , there's nothing yet to encourage me to return.
Trek to yomi and jwe 2 seems good, so this month is pretty okay I think.
And on Reddit they predicted games like Alllan Wake and other good/big ones
Yes, I know those are never come true, but it's fun to read predictions and later disappointments
I really enjoyed the first Jurassic World game, so I'm looking forward to the sequel, I've almost bought it on sale a few times. Not really interested in the basketball game, but Trek to Yomi looks like my kind of game, so I'll definitely check that out! Pretty happy with this month.
I only need one game a month and Trek to Yomi is that game. I'm happy.
Probably play the Dino sim if only to Watch people get eaten.
It's nice to not actually already own any of the games this month. Trek to Yomi looks like it could good, won't even claim the NBA one. Might give the JP one a go, if I ever clear the backlog... So probably never...
Hmm, maybe Jurassic park evo 2 I will download but that is it, nothing else interesting, when will they announce plus extra games for this month?
@Ken_Kaniff and what is so special about this trek game? Online mp? 🤷🤷
@huyi There is no online. Think a smaller scale side scrolling Ghost of Tsushima.
@Ken_Kaniff hmm, I didn't finish ghost of Tsushima, even tho I have tried very hard multiple times, I'm assuming it has shifu 1 hit kill also? Excuse me for my Unknowledge but it's hard to keep up with games like this?
Trek to Yomi is fire! Played it on game pass and will gladly play it again.
Another month were majority of people aren’t happy.
🤣
Very happy for the first time in months, because of NBA 2K23.
I don't remember when the last time was, that I played a PS Plus game. I'm always looking out what's coming, but in the end, I don't play them.
I'm too busy with games I actually buy.
@huyi I also don't know that much about it. Just remember seeing trailers from it when it was released.
It's actually a good month there's been some bad months, this isn't one of them.
Yeah we all wanted an already old basketball game instead of knack 2, good going sony.
I have this bad habit of buying a game on psn for it to only go on sale within a few days
Jurassic and NBA aren't my cup of tea. I played Trek to Yomi on launch via Game Pass, i loved it though, gorgeous and atmospheric, the combat packs a punch once it clicks. Not much for me this month then, but happy to add that last one to the libarary.
@Mgene15 can you buy GoW Ragnarok then pls? 😉
Trek to Yomi is pretty good played it on gamepass never finished it I'll download that and Jurassic World don't follow Basketball but might give it a try. It's 3 games i don't own so I'm not complaining.
Basketball doesn’t really interest me, and the other two I’d already played on GamePass. Saying that, with Diablo 4 and Zelda TOTK I’ve got enough to keep me busy for ages!
Worst month of the year so far it seems, damn shame.
I already own JP evolution 2 physical, so I'm gonna replace that for the digital version cuz I'm a lazy boy who doesn't wanna change disc's between sessions Makes me happy
Ecstatic mate yeah.
Worst month of 2023 yet I guess. But I'm not bothered. Still have soooo much to play. Trek to Yomi seems okay though.
Already own Trek to Yomi, but it is good. Quite enjoyed the first JPW. NBA 23, meh.
Decent selection in all honesty.
Maybe I’m wrong, but I feel like anyone who’s interesting in playing a sports game like NBA would’ve bought nearer release instead of waiting for it to end up on Plus
I wouldn't buy them but happy enough to add to library if I ever run out of games. 😁
I'm going to give Jurassic World 2 a shot as Jeff Goldblum is GOAT. He brings magic to everything he does. Trek to Yomi also seems worth having a go at.
Nothing noticeable but interesting enough from a curiosity / try somethin new angle
@hhrrsn
Facts
Last month and this month sucks hopefully July will be better
I'm pretty meh about our choices, but I'll still add Trek to Yomi to my collection.
Thase days i look more forward to the PS Extra/Premium announcements
My PS plus premium lapses in July and I've had auto renew turned off for months, this certainly solidifies my decision to do so.
Additionally, I feel like we are finally coming out of the Covid delays and there is enough games coming out monthly to keep me busy without the need for a subscription service.
I don't have many games and as someone who loves Sony I will always love any games they put out for free it saves me from spending extra unnecessary money and I get to play many many games for anyone who is unhappy maybe you shouldn't complain about it FREE IS FREE and Sony has to work hard to get these games for the Playstation Plus Games take what you can get and save a lot of money in the process no reason to be mad I always try out the monthly games don't be mad until you do there are some games that really stand out and other not so much but play all of them that's how you explore and discover new games and play games that you thought you wouldn't get to play before now no matter the game give it a chance before shaming and being disappointed or upset there is great games out there we wouldn't even think to play until we do and that's what brings us together as a gaming community don't blame Sony they really do their best for us and I appreciate them.
@Slippship Facts
@hhrrsn I play sports games and I would of loved to play NBA 2k with my friends this year but I ended up not getting it and now that it gives me the chance to I will have some fun with them I waited a long time to play but it either comes at a cost of money or time and since I'm not working a job and I'm still in highschool I just gave to wait sometimes that's how life is
@nathanSF Facts I always play the monthly games and it's always something to look forward to I'm never disappointed free is free and I appreciate Sony for taking the time to get these games on the PS Plus
@Nightcrawler71 Facts the game pass never disappoints many games to play for free basically
@Excess Facts
@ThePizzaMule Agreed
@Deggers46 Yeah it's always a great month with the essential free games
@ChakaL00T none of these games are disappointments
@Darude84 Yes sir
@Nintendo4Sonic Personally I play all PS Plus monthly games I only have essential but that enough to have a great time I only spend money on certain games if I'm really going to play them 24/7 but these free games are in great places to be played and tried I only buy maybe 1 or 2 games a year it depends what's coming out and if it's something I will keep playing some games are over in a few hours but some games you can keep playing I see PS Plus games as free good enough to play maybe finish but not something you would necessarily go out and buy personally I look forward to the monthly games every month it's saving money
@Cutmastavictory facts
@Ken_Kaniff The monthly games are always worth playing. Personally I have finished most of my games that I have bought but instead of playing the games I bought for no reason as in just playing them after you finished everything then why do we keep playing I'll be honest I get bored playing the same game after it's beaten and these monthly games are more games to play and considering that they are free are even better Sony puts in time to get these games for free on the monthly PS games and I'm far from disappointed my games library is filled with games and I have played all of them at least for a few hours others for days some PS monthly games I can play for a long time just to get away from games that I always play I'm the player that will return to a game after a week and still be a sweat but it's the monthly games which are always there for me when I want to discover and play a new game which not actually new but new to me new to play and it's pretty fun
Superb offering. Dead chuffed!
Removed - unconstructive feedback
@KidRyan it's a fun game, especially once you learn the unblockable combo and the heavy stun move. Makes doing the finishers really enjoyable
Wow, had a comment removed as I thought 2 of the options were irrelevant...
But one guy can post 13 comments about essentially his financial situation.
Odd.
