Sony has today confirmed the line-up of PS5, PS4 titles coming to PS Plus Essential for the month of June 2023. From Tuesday, 6th June 2023, you'll be able to download and play the following:
- NBA 2K23 (PS5, PS4) | Review
- Jurassic World Evolution 2 (PS5, PS4) | Review
- Trek to Yomi (PS5, PS4) | Review
You can redeem the three games starting Tuesday next week, and they'll remain playable as long as you have an active PS Plus membership. For more information, check out our All PS Plus Games list.
Sports game NBA 2K23 is probably the standout title from June 2023's line-up, bringing a quality basketball experience to PS5, PS4 subscribers. While it does have issues with microtransactions, our 8/10 rated NBA 2K23 PS5 review noted brilliant gameplay and tons of content. "On the court, 2K Sports has made some nice balancing tweaks and also improved the overall AI to make matches more dynamic and competitive, and when you pair all of that with all the new animations, you end up with a basketball sim that’s the very definition of a slam dunk."
We then have Jurassic World Evolution 2 for the park management and dinosaur enthusiasts, which is an improved sequel featuring Jeff Goldblum, and that's always a good thing. "If we had to make a list of things that are totally radical then dinosaurs chasing and eating annoying fannypack-wearing tourists while we triumphantly hum the Jurassic Park theme tune would be top ten. Maybe even top five. We're here for that. Minor quibbles with the main campaign aside, Jurassic World Evolution 2 delivers an entertaining if simplistic park builder, that well-utilises the Jurassic World license, and throws in just the right amount of dinosaur-fuelled mayhem to boot."
Finally, indie hit Trek to Yomi slices its way to PS Plus Essential next month. It may be short, but it's packed full of atmosphere and gorgeous visuals. "It's not quite side-scrolling Ghost of Tsushima, but it is an impressively atmospheric love letter to samurai cinema," we said.

nice good month
That's one hell of a month!
Eh, nothing for me personally. Already own JWE2, zero interest in NBA, already played Trek to Yomi on Game Pass. It was ok.
Me: Can't be worse then May.
Sony: Hold my beer
Was going to grab NBA 2K23 on Xbox later this week. This will save me a whopping $6.99, lol!
Otherwise not such a great month for me as both of the other games are on GamePass.
Been wanting to play trek to yomi, so I'm happy. Hopefully extra and premium are also good this month.
Trek to Yomi is worth a playthrough if you haven't tried it already. It's fairly short and there are some really good gameplay moments.
I'm pretty happy with Jurassic being added. I've had my eye on that one since the first, but just never got around to it. Trek to Yomi had my attention as well.
Anyone know if the PS Plus discounts are active? It won't list prices beyond what it will cost to upgrade to the other tiers.
Played Trek to Yomi on gamepass and would strongly recommend it to everyone
Don't own any of these so they'll be nice to add to library at least but that's mostly because I didn't want to buy any of these games to begin with. Maybe Trek to Yomi at some point. Like Jurassic Park but that's not how I want to play a Jurassic Park game. Oh well suppose you can't win every month
Feck sake I bought NBA last month 😭
My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined
Happy with the Dinosaurs; the ball-players and ninjas notsomuch. So that's fine.
They aren't wasting a good month in a loaded June.
Enjoyed Trek to Yomi, Pleased with the other 2 games, nice mix of genre
Trek to Yomi, that's it for me. Sports titles will always be divisive so PS + Essential should stay away from them.
Jurassic. Nice. I should have never bought nba 2k23. But the last time it was free 2k16, 2k17 was pretty good. Maybe 2k24 will be good. Doubt it though
Trek to yomi is good 😃
Edit: It seems jurassic world evolution 2 is good too, nice. This is a good month.
The dinosaur game is good and I always wanted to play Trek to Yomi. Basketball seems like an odd pick for everywhere that isn't America like, you know, the rest of the world.
Just Trek to Yomi for me.
Last few months they included some great games for extra tier and I think this is how they can cut the expenses. Last month I had no interest to play any, this will be the same. Don't get me wrong,
overall I still happy with PS plus just not with essential tier.
fun fact this new announcement does not show up here: https://blog.playstation.com/category/ps-plus/
only on main page
Seems to be a lot of people are quite happy with this month's selections, but unfortunately not I. Typical garbage month as far as I'm concerned. To each their own, for sure.....
Pretty meh month for Plus but I mean... Street Fighter 6, Diablo 4 and Final Fantasy XVI. Plenty of good stuff coming out
Great month. Frustrating for me personally as I only just bought JW Evolution 2 about a week ago. Thankfully it was a physical copy so I'll not lose much on it. Life is cruel, but not too cruel.
I don't care for current day basketball. But as an extreme Michael Jordan & 90's Bulls fan, NBA2k23 is a dream come true. I can make the game look & play like it did back when. The sandbox here is a dream come true for fans of that era...or other eras of the NBA.
Already own JWE2 but I really wanted Trek to Yomi. Good month.
@Deadhunter did you like JWE2?
I'll play Trek to Yomi. As luck would have it I never ended up buying it, so this works nicely.
@HMazzy111 The best thing about physical is that you can sell it, if you are not a collector, and if sealed you'll get close to the price you bought it for.
That’s a good month, three games that I’d check out. Been playing NBA2K2 so 23 is probably a bit more complicated!
Solid month. Trek to Yomi is good, and did want to try Jurassic Park Evo 2 (I didn't like the first). Plus a gambling simulator is offered as the third game as well. I'll take it.
@johncalmc It's not a stretch to say most of America doesn't care about basketball either. American football replaced baseball as the sport of choice probably around the 80's or 90's? I've only recently gotten into soccer as my son now plays in the little leagues and I've enjoyed hockey.
Trek to Yomi feels like a really solid Plus game, so I'll definitely give that a download
I’m excited for Trek to Yomi! Sports games aren’t my thing personally, but I know they’re popular, so that’s good for the many who enjoy them. No idea if Jurassic Park is gonna be my thing, but I will try it one day, maybe…idk.
Oh, maybe Trek to Yomi, maayybe Jurassic World, NBA no thanks.
On a side note, i shall have to remember to add them though, went to play Mafia and it wasn't in my library, was sure i had done it.
Totally gutted....
PS Plus Mehnaissance continues.
Looks like a good month, even if I have zero interest in basketball. I’ll nab Jurassic World 2 and Trek. I have the first Dino game for switch, so looking forward to trying the better version on the PS5. I have no idea about Trek but happy to try!
Worth the monthly fee (£4.17) especially as I added none of last months to my library
I've not played a basketball game.aince the NBA Jam days, the Bulls were my go to back then. Might give this a bash.
I've nearly pulled the Teigger on JWE2 and Trek to Yomi a few times so happy with those two.
Good month IMO.
@Tomato_Goose Quite a lot, yeah. I enjoyed the original well enough, but this one has some massive improvements, especially in how you power your parks. Campaign, movie-inspired scenarios, sandbox, all good.
@Deadhunter thanks for the answer! Guess, I'll find some time to try this one out, good tycoons are a rare type of games, especially on PS.
Always wanted to try Trek to Yomi so that's nice but overall Plus continues to dissapoints with two months back-to-back now. Sony side really not spending a good week or two recently.
Nice! Great month! Finally a list of games where I don't already own any of them! Idk if I'll be able to make room for the massive 2K file size, I'd really like to play it. I'd like to try them all tbh
I found Trek to Yomi to be a gorgeous game with bland, repetitive combat that ultimately put out the flame for me. Worth experiencing for the art direction, though.
I just 100%'d Trek to Yomi 2 nights ago, thinking it would leave GP since it's been a year. Marvelous game btw. I hate sim sports & never cared for management sims so I'll pass on this lineup.
@Uncharted2007 same, I've been looking at the Jurassic World games for some time
I will download trek to yomi.i been wanted to play that game.word up son
Happy with this. Wanted both Jurassic World Evolution 2 and Trek to Yumi - but not enough to pull the trigger on them. Very happy with this month
If you like NBA the flair, music, culture or maybe the artist design of "trek to", I guess the month is whatever but we'll just have to see what's in the premium tier to save this new cycle of games. I've bought 2k23 three months back but,
Honestly a little tired of how ps catalog has been...
there's been at least a few times where I've had gotten a game then about a month later that exact game comes to the catalog for or just given as a free month game. I really rack my brain 🧠 thinking of how they decide on what's up next...
Because it seems even they don't know what they are "willing" to give too us
Some games here a month then almost gone as fast as they've came..
sorry I ranted for a while 🫡
I sincerely cannot remember the last time the games in the essential tier had anything for me that I did not already own. It has been more than a year at least. Fortunately, I see the games as just a bonus.
Trek to Yomi was my biggest gaming disappointment last year. The visuals are great and it has some good ideas, but I found combat achingly dull. It is worth playing, just maybe with lower expectations than I had going in…………
Nice to see this appeals to most people which would make this month a success. I already own the Dino game so it's not much for me.
I will say for those who have no interest in NBA/basketball in general, that these games can broadside you and turn you into an addict.
@nofriendo I posted my comment above before reading yours. That is exactly how I felt about Trek as well.
Always wanted to play Trek to Yomi but was hesitant to pick it up because I heard it wasn’t that great. This fits the budget better.
Is Jurassic basically Roller Coaster Tycoon but with Dinosaurs?
@nessisonett Allen Iverson on Dreamcast!!!!
@Suda51ueda Hahaha, was doing a season as the Lakers and even with the talents of Shaq and Kobe, I forgot just how scary some of the other teams were. Iverson and Nowitski especially completely stomped me!
Trek to Yomi is nice that’s the standout to me I’ll be excited to play that. Was always kinda tempted to snag it up last year so I’m pretty happy with that.
Gonna try Trek to Yomi in the future.
This is an okay selection of games. None of them are games I would buy, but are games I wanted to try.
NBA2K is plagued by microtransactions, so free (with subscription) is the right price for it. I’m not really much of a management sim kinda person, but I like dinosaurs, so I’d give Jurassic Park a go. Trek to Yomi looked so promising before release, but got pretty bad reviews, so I would’ve only bought it for a steep discount — so getting it with Plus is good so I can make up my own mind about it, and not feel buyers remorse if it’s as crap as it seems.
Trek to yomi is a top tier indie. Guess I'll give it another playthrough and get those trophies.
Well there’s still FFXVI to look forward to.
If you don’t like basketball playing samurai dinosaurs then I don’t want to know you…..
2 games I'd already wish-listed. Brilliant month 🙌
I'm surprised June didn't get PS Plus leaks.
Two of these on Switch but JPE2 still isn't, so there's that.
Not a bad selection. Trek to Yomi is a huge + for me.
Pumped for Trek to Yomi!
@get2sammyb yep. Best in a VERY long time
When does premium get announced as that is where my interest lies
@Deadhunter
Trek was on GP? Then it must be some indie, right?
Finally a good month for Essential! Very happy with NBA.
Did I play a different game to everyone recommending it here? Trek to Yomi was a horrible game imo. Beautiful aesthetic but horrendous gameplay, didn’t even finish it.
Not bad but I own NBA and I don't have a desire to play JP or the other one.
I wish gamers had a way of participating in what games are presented monthly but I have no idea how that would evel look.
@Darude84 2K isn't bad but it's not as good as past variations but if you like basketball games, it's fine and it's free so what does anyone have to lose. LOL
I’m a big fan of the NBA. The actual NBA game, as in watching basketball and the most amazing athletes on the planet. But the video game… not so much. Maybe I’ll try it. It’s nice to have in the catalog.
And contrary to what has been said, basketball is largely international now. Most of the current best players in the league are non-American — Jokic, Doncic, Embiid, Giannis, Sabonis, … including the future of the sport with Wembanyana coming next year. 6 of the top 8 finishers in the MVP voting are not from the US this year. Jokic will probably win Finals MVP (my prediction).
The other two games are intriguing, although I probably won’t play them. Maybe the Trek to Yomi.
Nothing there for me…but I’ll be playing Diablo anyway…
Sooooooo long waiting for JWE so they gave us 2... OK, at least something in June... But who cares, there will be Diablo!!!
Great month , I can finally delete mw2 because it’s all pay to win
@awp69 It will save you -30 on micro transactions haha. Great gameplay though. Sad to see this kind of ***** with good games.
@Far_Cide I liked last year’s game so I guess it will be kind of the same.
As they say its impossible to please all of the people all of the time. Its great to see sony cater for some of the people.
Good month been wanting to buy NBA 2K23 and Jurassic World . + I've been waiting for a solid month (for me) to subscribe to PS Plus again
I really enjoyed my time with Trek to Yomi. Definitely need to play through it again. Can’t believe it’s already been over a year since it came out…
Wow, nothing on there for me! Ah well, less to clog up the PS5's hard drive.
WOW thats a great lineup to me.
Trek to Yomi looks incredible but I tired of it after a few hours on Gamepass. Jurassic World is fantastic if you have an interest in park management and dinosaurs, it's got the original music from all the films too which is a nice touch. I'll give NBA a go but SSD space is tight and I have NBA Jam TE.
I'll definitely add Trek to Yomi to my PSN library, hard pass on the other titles.
