Do you remember a time when the monthly PS Plus games weren't leaked days in advance of the official reveal? The subscription service's offerings have been accurately outed five months in a row, with October's selection being correctly called last weekend. When will it end?
To recap, October's lineup includes Hell Let Loose (PS5), Mortal Kombat X (PS4), and PGA Tour 2K21 (PS4). When this trio was leaked, the reception was incredibly mixed, and it's a similar story following Sony's announcement. The bottom line is that these games simply aren't for everyone — but then, are they ever? We will say, though, that the complete lack of a particularly spooky game in time for Halloween is criminal.
Anyway, what do you think of October's PS Plus games? Vote in our polls, and then feed us your brutally honest opinion in the comments section below.

Yes, of course. I pay much less than the cost of one game for an entire year of access to 2-3 games a month so if there are months where some games don't suit me I'm not such a baby that I'm going to be unhappy, its to be expected. This month I'm happy to receive the golf game and the FPS (which is really hardcore!)
I voted a crap selection but like always I have so much to play anyway I'm not too bothered..(ok a little bit..)
Yeah, it’s crap.
I’m pretty salty that Asia is getting that Castlevania collection.
the base version of a game that already has a full on sequel out in mk 11, some game I've never heard of is a reward for ps5 early adopters, I am though looking forward to a bit of golf
They’re not terrible other than an old Mortal Kombat that’s already in the collection. Hell Let Loose looks really good actually.
Terrible selection, if it wasn’t for cloud saves, I’d cancel it honestly, since I never play MP games on my PS other than FFXIV (that does not require PSN+)
Pretty bad. I didn't like Hell let loose beta but as free I'll give it another whirl
Been mulling over the golf game all summer everytime it was on sale. Now I get to play it for free, £16 saved so can't complain
Crap is an understatement
They aren't even trying anymore.
I love MKX but alas, I already have it.
Not sure what PGA tour would be like but just realised that it's 2K and not EA. Interested to try it anyway because golf games can be quite good sometimes.
I don't have a ps5 so the other game is pointless even though I'll claim it anyway.
So yeah, it's a rubbish selection for me personally. But I honestly like rubbish months because it doesn't add to the already overwhelming backlog of Plus titles and convinces me that I shouldn't bother resubscribing next year.
Golf for me, will make a change. Let's face it, they'll never please everyone.
I'm not happy with it. There's nothing there that interest me. But what makes it worse is that they put Mortal Kombat X on it. A game we have on the Plus Collection for PS5. Even people that don't have a PS5 yet, the game would still be there for when they do. It's not like Sony is changing the Plus Collection. They could have added Mortal Kombat 11 onto PS+ for PS4 or change Mortal Kombat X to something new for the Plus Collection.
I thought Hell Let Loose was going to be a free to play game. Tried the older beta and thought it was so bad that I quit and deleted the game before it even finished the match. It felt like a really bad outdated Battlefield that has a long way to go to catch up. And then I give it another go when it was open to everyone to see what's changed and if it's any better. Same thing happened there
@MrGilly69 snap. I was the same, so this has been a result for me 😊
Ive already got golf and mk x. Hell let loose comes on the same day as my internet upgrade so I'll give it a whirl.
After checking some reviews, now I'm definitely gonna try Hell Let Loose
@fabiotc don't try to play it solo. You'll need a mic and be in a squad to get the best out of it. Its like a really serious version of BF.
They need to have more triple A games that are 3 years old or less.
Not bothered one way or the other really. I just take what's on offer, try out the games and if I don't like them I don't like them I just move on to something else. No point whinging about it.
First time every I am straight up disappointed with the full line and and I chose the crap option.
The general focus on multiplayer games only on plus lately sucks in general. I don’t mind MP games but balance it out a bit IMO. Like atleast 1 Fully SP experience would’ve satisfied me.
I will give Mortal Kombat and PGA a try but don't expect to play them much over a hour or two.
If it'd been the XL version of mortal Kombat X I'dve been happy
Hell Let Loose. Seems like realistic Battlefield set in WW2. Definitely going to try it.
@fR_eeBritney What are you going to do now she's free?
I'll go with the golf.
I just have one perk slot left to unlock, then I'll be done with Got Legends for now. After that I'll chill with golf during the build up to Christmas.
Im not excited particularly, but neither am i bothered. I have a stack of stuff to get through in my backlog - not least unplayed PS Plus games - so i wouldn't have got to anything this month anyway
Hell let loose could be ok. Footage i saw online last month looked decent
I think it's a very decent selection. Obviously it's not the best or latest version of MK which is a clear negative but the other 2 very much depend on the type of game you like. I play a fair amount of shooters and was looking at HLL so that would nearly justify the price of plus on it's own.
To busy playing new games to care about PS+ games.
I would bet most will be using PS+ to play FIFA, FarCry6 and Back4Blood online anyway.
Hell Let Loose actually looks fairly high quality, but it’s just not my type of game. Those who lament how Sony hasn’t done anything to foster online multiplayer (despite last few months also having a new MP game released on PS+) should be happy. I might try the golf game though; I’ve never played one.
Sadly its another month I’ll be giving all of them a miss. Luckily Far Cry 6 is out, which I’m really looking forward to playing.
I have had so many great games this ywar already so sometimes its something i dont completely like.
But its easier to say how much people dislike the games even with a good month people will bitch and moan so what new.
I will try hell let loose as i do like a hardcore shooter (shame insurgency isnt given as a freebie)..i dont need to harp on about the golf but anybody interested in getting together for some online shenanigans just let me know..
@Integrity Well there goes any chance of me playing Hell Let Loose 😬
@Integrity
I'm glad someone is happy. I don't remember being happy about a ps plus game since Rocket League to be honest.
@Octane Haha well technically she’s not free yet. But this is a huge win regardless.
Her father has been immediately suspended as conservator of her finances but the conservatorship is still in place. The reason for the suspension (not termination) is to allow forensic accountants to investigate the financial dealings that took place during the conservatorship. Hopefully they will find out what happened to all of her money and criminal charges will be brought against certain individuals involved. Such abuse should not go unpunished.
There’s another hearing scheduled for November 12th which will decide whether the conservatorship will be ended entirely 🤞
£6.99 a month for 3 free games, online play, cloud storage and exclusive monthly deals and yet some people still complain 😑 can tell they were spoilt growing up
I rarely ever play ps plus games. Control was the only recent one really. Do enthusiasts really have time to play "free" games when there's so many new games? Many of us just use it for online. I also usually finish the good games within months anyway.
It's an okay month. I plan to give the Golf game a go. I haven't played a more serious Golf game in ages so I'm interested to see what that style game looks like these days.
The line-up is fine. I mean, will I play PGA? Probably not, but its not a bad choice for a free game. That’s how I generally feel about sports titles. I may not like them, but let’s all be honest here. We, as a group, are far more hardcore as gamers than the average sap that’s on PS+. I don’t play sports games much, but I know enough people that live and breathe EA Sports and CoD and that’s enough for them with gaming, and that’s ok. At least people like that might put down Madden or FIFA for a few days to try a different sport.
Hell Let Loose seems like a good FPS and I’ll definitely try it while I wait for 2042.
The only issue I have with it is Mortal Kombat X. It’s a strong Mortal Kombat game, don’t get me wrong, behind only 11 (and 2 if only because I’m nostalgic for it) in terms of quality, but (and it is a huge but) it’s already in the PS+ collection. It defeats the selling point of the PS+ collection to trickle the games out as PS+ games. Also, even if it wasn’t on the PS+ collection, the game feels about as old as dirt and is about as cheap as dirt for the XL version. If this was XL, I think people like myself wouldn’t think it’s a rubbish addition to the line-up, even though I already own XL. It’s a discount bin game now, even as XL, after all.
Yes there free games ............ But if they don't excite you to download them.......... What's the point of giving them away????
Golf is good, so that makes it worth the fee for me. Not interested in yet another online shooter and have MKX on the PS Collection, which is the only thing leaving a bitter taste.
Nothing for me there. HLL looks compelling but a game like that requires a lot of grinding to get good at. If I'm going to play a game that much, it'll be some rpg in my backlog.
This isn't a troll or anything but I am genuinely curious, how many people actually spend a alot of time with the plus games ? I only ask because I can only think of maybe 3 games that I received from plus that I actually played from start to finish, and that was because I was actually intending to buy them retail. The last one being controll for the ps5.
For me the get excited for the plus games but once I get them i just kind of forget about them because I don't feel I own them in the same way I own the games I buy my self , so that ends up creating a werid disconnect from those games. It's a werid ownership thing I guess I also hate borrowing things I never do it for the same reasons. Any one else like that ?
Well, I'm not going to download or play them probably... I mostly don't thinking about it, as if there is one I would play I probably already bought it.
@UltimateOtaku91 yeah not sure how these three can be a “crap month” at worst a Plus month can only be MEH. It’s the price of a coffee!
I'll give the golf a try but Asia gets a 4th game Europe gets a two finger salute not for the first time either
@Integrity Would you at least agree the value of PS+ has gone down quite a lot in a few years?
from 2010 to 2014 : 1 year price = 49.99$/€ - between 4 and 7 monthly games (with a few exceptions)
from 2014 to 2019 : 1 year price = 49.99$/€ -> 59.99$/€ (in 2016) - 6 monthly games (with a few exceptions) - also online gaming made PS+ mandatory on PS4
from February 2019 to November 2020 : 1 year price = 59.99$/€ - 2 monthly games (with a few exceptions)
since November 2020 : 1 year price = 59.99€/$ - 3 monthly games
And this is even before comparing the quality of games. I don't like to complain for the sake of complaining, but clearly the PS+ subscription value has been going down for the last years. Right now, an offering of 3 PS4 and 2 PS5 games would come closer to what it was before.
I always add them to my library but recently there hasnt been a must play game for me like other months
Jan: Maneater
Feb: Control & Destruction Allstars
March: Marquette & FF7
April: Soulstorm
May: Wreckfest
June: Squadrons
July: Plague Tale
August, Sept and Octobers line ups just haven't been for me. Not going to say its awful or worst month eva just not what I personally want to play
@Otherbarry games you don't actively seek out and buy with your own money can be more easily disposable. I'd say 2 or 3 games a year get played properly, Hitman 2 at the moment. Loads more get downloaded but they have a very short time to grab my attention.
It's this sort of thing that puts me off game pass.
Big meh from me. Not bothered though, have had a few good games this year already so it's paid for itself.
@Olmaz I understand, a well-formed argument.
If I were paying full price I'd still not be upset if because on average, for me, out of the entire year there'd be a minimum of 6 games id want to play, which still present value for money to me.
But I've never paid full price. Ever. In fact I have PSPlus rolling subscription stacked up because when there's a deal with money off I take advantage of it, so overall I'm happy.
However I will agree that the choice of games were subjectively better during the PS3 era compared to know.
@nessisonett yeah, I know right 😆 its certainly not a drop-in, drop-Oout kind of game. Which is fine because there are plenty of those. What there aren't many of on console are hardcore sims like this so I welcome it.
See you on BF instead 😁👍
I probably won't play it for long but its good that consoles attract these types of game usually only found on PC.
A brand new game in hell let loose....dont get why everyone is saying crap month ..what do people expect
Hell let loose is really good the rest is meh so ima say ok meh
Nothing that takes my fancy personally, so yes crap. But that doesn't mean they are bad.. everyone has a preference and I'm sure there is appeal here to some.
Been Playing Hell let loose on PC for a while such a good game, cant see it doing well on consoles tho ,very much a PC type of game.
My PS5 broke today, so I don't mind that there's nothing interesting this month
I hope we’re getting Marvel’s Avengers with the Spidey DLC next month...
It's fine. Not great, but I never played Mortal Kombat X, so I'll probably try that at some point.
Going by the poll there’s a lot of ungrateful PlayStation fans when it comes to Hell Let Loose, it’s such an amazing game. I get that it won’t be for everyone but PS Plus subscribers are essentially getting a brand new £35 next-gen game for free day one. Maybe it should of came to Game Pass day one instead, it most likely would of been appreciated more as I’ve heard nothing but praise being sung about the game from the Xbox community.
Hell Let Loose is the first game on Plus im happy to play for a long time. Played the beta and has a lot of potential. Glad to finally play a decent WW2 mil-sim.
@StylesT if they gave us FIFA 22 it would be a ‘crap’ month for me because I don’t like FIFA (or Football really). It doesn’t really mean anything. One persons trash is another persons treasure as they say.
At this rate, Sony should give up with the subscription service efforts. Make online play free and leave it there because PS+ lags so far behind Game Pass it's ridiculous
Hell let Loose reminds me of MAG on the PS3, don't think PS4 ever had a game like it other than Battlefield/Battlefront.
Golf depends on the person and Mortal Kombat, not great due to being offered so many times.
PSNow offering better value for money at the moment.
@MaccaMUFC I found the reaction odd aswell...over on Xbox even if you don't necessarily get games you want...they don't act nowhere near as entitled as they do over here ..if Xbox got these games I know the reaction would be a hell of alot more positive
My initial thought was theres probably alot more spoilt kids on here than there is on Xbox haha...could be totally wrong ofcourse
Not everyone has managed to get hold of the ps5 yet they seem to have the best game choice
Not good . ok i guess last month was a little better.word up son
@Olmaz
I don't really understand your argument.
PS+ being $49.99 in 2010 = $62.72 in today's money, so in fact you're getting PS+ cheaper than what it is worth if going off 2010 values. Also, you should not be paying full price for PS+. At ANY time during the year there is some sort of discount on PS+, but the best deals are usually around black Friday, making the price even cheaper
Just this year, the price of Control OR Final Fantasy VII just about covers the price of PS+
But on top of that you've had, Maneater, Greedfall (free upgrade to PS5), Tomb Raider (with a ps5 patch), Destruction All Stars (day 1 free game), concrete genie, Marquette (day 1 free game), remnant from the ashes, Oddworld (day 1 free game), Days gone, Zombie army 4 (with os5 patch), wreckfest, Battlefield 5, Stranded Deep, Operation Tango (day 1 free game), Starwars Squadrons, Virtuafighter V (day 1 free game), Plague Tale (day 1 free game), CoD game, WWE game, Hunters arena legends (day 1 free game), Plants v Zombies, Tennis game, overcooked collection, predator game, Hitman 2 (free upgrade using HM3 demo)
Just one or two of those games would cover a $35/40 PS+ price, which is what you should be paying if taking advantage of PS+ sales and discounts. Not every game there is to my tastes, but there is a whole range of genres, exclusives, first party, AAA games in there, you just need to cherry pick a few and there's your PS+ price covered, then there is the extra discounts and free packs for games
@MaccaMUFC Probably, Xbox is known for being more of the bro gamer fps boom boom shooter console. I personally like to play single player games so this completely free multiplayer shooter does nothing for me. It's like getting tickets to go see a band you don't care about. I mean thanks and it might be fun...but it's not what I was looking for.
My vote was “not very happy”, not so much with the games we are getting but the game we are NOT getting.
Unless Asia is paying more for PlayStation Plus, we should get Castlevania Requiem too, I’m disappointed that Sony think it’s ok to give us less.
Hopefully Sony will see sense, otherwise it’s worrying that this could be a trend.
I wish people would stop moaning as your paying £50 a year for loads of games and yes not all of them will be your cup of tea but I think from the start of the year Sony has knocked it out of the park with some great titles.
As the PS4 has been out for quite a few years now the plus games we get you've either got, played or don't like.
If u don't like plus then don't buy it,it's that simple
@fR_eeBritney what has games got to do with a failed loony popstar.
This is a gaming forum
Another lacklustre, lazy and highly forgettable selection of games with Mortal Kombat being a good game back when it was released but why not even the XL version let alone MK11 which has been out long enough now to be milked for multiple releases and increasingly random DLC packs. Can’t imagine I’ll play any of these and hope Sony can deliver a decent package sooner rather than later …
@Rocky1972 Well tbf I was asked the question. And... Britney did have her own game in 2002 on the PS2 (Britney’s Dance Beat). It was awful 🤣 but calling her a failed loony popstar isn’t very nice. Have some compassion man.
Also, she was parodied in Ratchet & Clank 3: Up Your Arsenal (Courtney Gears). How many other popstars can say that 😬
It had nothing to do with pa plus though and yeah I apologize about saying that.
Theses games may delight many, but i don' have a PS5 and the offered PS4 games i have no interest in playing.
Sony needs to ditch this one size fits all because it doesn't, and add a PS Plus with no "free" games option for about 30 bucks.
@SAMTYLER1974 Lazy and Lackluster because you personally aren't happy.....right oh
It wouldn't be so bad if this wasn't the 3rd or 4th month in a row of garbage. Sony started out strong but have now just resorted to throwing out any old crap in the hope that it will stick. October used to at least have a theme of Halloween to it, but not now, now it's just the same old attitude of throw any crap at them and the morons will just accept it. Day by Day, week by week and month by month Microsoft's offering is looking stronger and stronger.
I really think that Sony need a shock to the sales ledger to make the executives wake up and take stock of how pitiful their offering has become. I'd gladly give up the games each month because they are so poor, however Sony would need to cut the price to make me interested in paying solely to play online. At the moment it just doesn't add up as the offers are just so poor.
I think it's a pretty crap selection for me personally, I already have Mortal Kombat XL, I have no interest in golf and I don't have a PS5, I'll be glad when my subscription runs out, there's been nothing of interest to me for the past couple of months, they should have kept the indie titles on there.
Always feel like these polls should come out after everyone’s had a chance to download the games and try them out. I’d be more interested in seeing how many people actually tried the games and how many of those people liked the games they played.
With that said, He’ll Let Loose looks like fun for a bit, MKX is a genuinely great game, and PGA games are pretty chill, so not bad if you don’t already own these.
@kill_Nil
They don’t compete.
PS+ is primarily for online multiplayer. The free games are just that, free games. While I’m not impressed by the line up most months, I don’t really care because I pay for online multiplayer first and foremost.
Playstation Now is what competes with Gamepass. It has some issues despite having a larger library. Game pass gives you a lot of games on day one release. That’s not the case with Now.
With that said, Sony can’t afford a service like Gamepass. Sony depends on its multi hundreds of millions of dollars AAA 1st party games to sell like hot cakes. It needs the direct royalties from third party game sales.
Let’s be fair, Microsoft subsidizes Game Pass. There’s no way they make money from it, not at their low price rate. Sony doesn’t have that level of cash on hand. And Sony’s board would never tolerate pouring money into an unprofitable venture that no one knows when it would turn a profit. Hell they threw the largest fit in company history over the PS3 disaster and there was some fear that PlayStation could have been canned over it. Thankfully SCE was able to turn the PS3 around but it never actually made a profit. They never recouped the enormous development costs. They just got close to breaking even. Notice how much safer Sony played the PS4 than they did with the PS3.
@UltimateOtaku91 Or, you’re paying for three games a month and getting free cloud saves and multiplayer.
Really none of it is free, and people have a right to complain.
@CynicalGamer they only add these 'free' games to make it look like value for money when they're really just charging to play online same with Xbox & same with Nintendo
I like golf games so am actually happy
@Would_you_kindly Exactly why I never go into any month expecting any nice freebies. It's really a matter of whether I want to pay for online and I could easily stop paying if it bothered me.
@FatallyYours117
First, I'm from Europe and here, 50€ in 2010 = 56,95€ in 2021. So 60€ is pricier now than what it was back then.
The fact that something can be often bought at a discounted price is only showing the base price is blown up. This is a dishonest marketing strategy that should be punished, although sadly is very widely spread.
The price of some games have covered the price of PS+ for the customers, but this is not how the seller thinks. For them, it's still very advantageous to give these games through PS+, which makes you think how much they earn with that subscription.
Also, if you are going to take into account the discounted price of PS+, then you should consider the games' discounted prices too.
I have never said no good games was offered with PS+ this year, just that compared to previous years, it doesn't even come close to be as good an offering.
As for diversity of games, again, when we had 6 games we got almost every month one AAA game, 1 or 2 AA and the rest being indies. All of that from different genres and with different quality.
Look here to understand how the value has gone down : https://playstation.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_PlayStation_Plus_games_(PAL_region)
You also to forget how Sony managed to make PS+ mandatory for PS4 online gaming, therefore coercing its loyal customers to subscribe.
I'm not saying that what we get has no value, but only that Sony could, and should offer a lot more, as it has in the past.
@TheRedComet I guarantee xbox do make money with game pass or else they wouldn't do it ,remember mixer ? It's gone none money maker
Company's do not keep things that are at a loss
Visit https://killedbygoogle.com/
Just because the Sony boss says they can't make money blah blah they do they make money off subs, percentage of money from games that ppl buy that they prob wouldn't get if it wasn't for game pass and percentage of dlc of the games , they even got the PC /apple/android gamers paying for subs and soon TVs/media hardware will have gamepass too , if it wasn't making money they wouldn't b planning a lot with gamepass no matter how big a company is they are there to make money
Happy with ps+ in general, but this month's games are not my cup of tea (shooter + golf) and I already have the awesome MK. Instead of focusing on each month, I rather take a look at the ps+ I get over a year. If it were 12 months like this one, I'd definitely cancel, but that's not the case at all.
@Martsmall and I can guarantee that they don't. There you go. Argument.
Unless you can provide some actual evidence, you can't guarantee anything. How many Sony divisions were in the red for years (inclusing playstation) and still didn't get shut down?
Plenty. We have the yearly financial reports. When they think they can turn things around, they don't close them.
Nothing for me this month, but I’m going to be busy enough playing Jett and Project Zero so not too worried.
@Would_you_kindly Nope. The word "free" meaning "at no additional cost" is used all the time for all sorts of things. E.g. "free wifi" or "free massages" when you book a hotel room. Yet people don't complain that those things shouldn't be called "free", for obvious reasons. Everyone understands what "free" means in that context.
It's a bad selection for me but I don't really care. It's not like I'm sat here gameless waiting for PS Plus to drop and they've just thrown three terrible games at me. I just don't have any interest in playing them. It's fine. You win some months and you lose some months.
@NoCode23 and lose a ton of money in the process. Sure, they have every reason to do that.
Yeah, a pretty dull month.
Mortal Kombat X is in PS Plus Collection for almost 1 year.
But I'm not sad. The PS Plus games are always just on top and I actually don't have much time for these games, since I buy my favorite games on disc either way.
@Olmaz
Your link does not work for me, https://www.reddit.com/r/PlayStationPlus/wiki/list/fulleu/ works fairly well though. That shows the difference In Euro up until the offerings aligned with US, but the US list is conveniently linked there
Firstly, yes the euro hasn't done as well as the $, I used it as an example. I'm happy to use €. I find it converts to €57.10 from 2010, but a few pence doesn't matter from your figure. So you are right, there is a discrepancy of €2.90. I concede that point to you. You are worse off by nearly €3. Thankfully most of Europe's pay rate in the last 11 years has also gone up at some stage to cover at least €3
The base price is RRP. Recommended. If Sony can get away with selling it at that price, it will. Like every other company under the sun. It is not dishonest, it is business. If you don't want to shop around for the same item at a lower price, that is your choice. If I search for Returnal on pricespy (for example) I get a range of prices from a range of sellers. Why wouldn't I choose the cheapest price for the same item? If I buy directly from Sony for their price, that is my bad choice. This has been the way of commerce for as long as commerce has been around? It's not something I just made up for this example
I am happy to think of the discounted price of games, they often go on sale I am sure throughout thier lifecycles, but even a decent discount of 75%, is still more than €0.00 when it lands on PS+. Even if I pretended to think that every game this year so far on PS+ has gone down in price by 75% at some stage (it hasnt), that price TOTAL, still far exceeds the price of PS+
like most of us, nostalgia and looking back through rose tinted glasses has skewed our perspective of how good the games were "back then". Looking at the list now, there is as much, if not more shovelware given away then, than there is now. Not forgetting that "back then" you had to have access to a PS3, PSP and a PS Vita (and eventually a PS4) to take advantage of having every single game on PS+. Where as now you only need 2 concoles. Some of the games back then were cross playable, but ALL games now on PS+ are cross playable between PS4 & 5. Going off your original point, if you are not happy with this year's selection, there is no way you were playing 100% of the games every month on 3/4 pieces of hardware in 2011/14
The reason we sometimes got 4-6 games a month is because they spread it across 3 or 4 consoles. So giving 5 terrible games away and 1 AAA game doesn't make the other 5 magically better all of a sudden.
If the loyal Sony users were happy to pay for PS+, how are they being coerced? IF they were unhappy, don't pay. For the loyal sony customers though, again, I fall back to getting much cheaper deals on PS+ than the RRP
Sony could give away 6 terrible games a month like it used to with PS+ in the early 2010's. The issue is Sony has a figure in their head as to how much they are willing to give away. Lets say is €50 a month. If you want 6 games, we get 6 terrible games that come to €50. Whereas we actually get 2 or 3 better games (whether you like the games is your taste) that equal around €50. I'd easily take the 2 games I can play on my 1 console in 2021, than having 6 games in 2014 where I had to own 4 consoles and got dubious games
As much as the selection is canny crap, I feel that we have already had our moneys worth of good games. I do wish they offered way more JRPGs though than they do.
@naruball ,I'm not arguing I'm stating facts, yes you are right ps has been in the red and they turned things around by changing things , you see Xbox changing anything? has the price increased? No they just added more stuff ( cloud gaming on console for example) and future plans to add to TV and blah blah ,even Phil Spencer has said In a ign interview it was profitable , the thing is that Sony fans want gamepass to fail and it isn't and they don't like that
I'll b honest I love Sony I really do I spent all of my childhood on Thier games but have lost a big step in what ppl want, this gen Xbox have things that I'd love to see on ps ( quick resume /access games from phone, hell I can even play Xbox games on my quest 2 with a joypad (not officially) but Sony can't even get releasing 2 games timed demo right without cutting off THIER fans without good internet ( some ppl don't have a choice due to where they live ) with gamepass u can download games over a month before they come out so even those with rubbish net aren't left out
and timers don't start on the game till u start playing it why can't Sony do this it's not like the tech isn't there ? this is what Sony remind me of and a lot of ppl won't like it but it's my opinion
Sony is like the Mafia kingpin thats been untouchable for years but now they got competition from other dons and they don't like it ,they not seeing the big picture that would make Thier ppl happy but I'll b honest Xbox are, like I've said there are loads of features that come standard with Xbox like cloud game saves without charge ,backward compatibility/ and these are just two things u think Sony would have been first in line to get for their fans like me but they haven't it took em near enough a year to get extra storage sorted
Ok I got a lot off topic and ranted sorry lol
Ppl may see gamepass as the anti Christ but at least it's not coming off as anti consumer,
Sony have to find a gamepass killer and it isn't as far as features go they are way behind unfortunately
@Martsmall Do you not remember that just this year, Xbox were going to DOUBLE the price of Xbox live? That was a massive change. The only reason they didn't get away with it, massive outcry. So much so that they changed their policy and allowed certain features to be used for free online and not require Xbox live to spin the news cycle the other way
@FatallyYours117 yes they reversed it, there was lots of outcry with Sony about the extra ps5 charge have they reversed that ? Or released the demos that don't start till you start the game ? ...no it's like Sony hear but don't care
@Martsmall you realise that the prices for Xbox series games have also gone up in price? It's not just PS5...
Also, if you want to pay digital prices day one for a new game, that is your choice. You could wait a few weeks and buy a disc version and instantly save yourself money
I'm happy in so much as it's not added to my backlog. But it would have been nice to have at least one game of the three added to my backlog, even if it was a small 1-2 hour indie game.
@Martsmall Nope. You're not just stating facts. "Guaranteeing" something is not stating facts. You're drawing conclusions based on certain facts, but the conclusions themselves are not facts.
@FatallyYours117 they haven't gone up u get games that are the same price either Xbox one or the s/X versions ( you get free upgrades if you decide to get a s/X )
The ones that have gone up are like ea that have separate versions that charge more for the X/s versions
Prime example far cry 5 release date February 27, 2018. Cost $59.99
Far cry 6 cost $59.99 and both versions for Xbox one or series X/s or both of u own both
@Martsmall you make a lot of assumptions about others and that's where your argument falls apart. I'm a Sony fan and couldn't care less whether Gamepass/Xbox/Ninty succeed or fail. Yes, there are some fanboys who do, but you can't judge such an enormous group based on some remarks made by the loud minority.
@Martsmall Everything is about preference. Nothing more than that.
Xbox are doing fine.
PlayStation are doing fine.
I have PS5, Switch, and a Series X.
My PS5 is on almost every evening.
I turn the Switch on every weekend to play with my missus.
Since I bought the Series X back in February or March all I've used it for is to install old 360 and og xbox games. I haven't played anything on it yet at all.
There's nothing wrong with the Series X. There's just nothing on it for me until Starfield.
I could try to make an argument that it has no games, but it definitely does have games. They're just not for me 🤷♂️
For me, all that matters is where I want to play and which first party exclusives I want.
GamePass and PS Now don't factor in to it. The best thing about Game Pass is there's a teeny tiny chance that Sony might give me Funimation with my PS Plus sub eventually to increase the perceived value of that service.
It's okay if you prefer xbox and gamepass over PlayStation. There's nothing wrong with that. That's your preference.
I think naruball is right though, and you're making a lot of assumptions about what other people want based on your own preferences.
Just have fun. Play games.
See ps4 users are being mugged off now there s a ps5 shame we pay too for the 💩💩 service and crap games how come ps5 getting better games we all pay the bloody same what a shir year for being ripped.off on ps4
@naruball and you can't assume I meant every Sony fan ( myself being one ) ,I never once said EVERY sony fan I said Sony fans , nowhere does it say all
@Martsmall you get free upgrades to the new Xbox consoles, so like most cross gen PS4/5 games then?
And yes, the prices have gone up. I have just looked now on the Xbox store, for FIFA and Battlefield. Guess what, they are not £40
You started by stating, and I quote directly from your post "I'm not arguing I'm stating facts", and instantly I pointed out that Xbox has tried to change the price of things just in the last year... Your opinions are not facts.
I'd love to see the Phil spencer interview about how gamepass is profitable too, if you could link that to me please.
@Martsmall never said that you meant every single fan. Read what I said again, not what you wish I had.
I said you judge an entire group based on the words of a few.
@FatallyYours117 the two games you mentioned are made by ea like I said in my post they charge more
https://www.ign.com/articles/phil-spencer-interview-unlocked-xbox-series-x
@Martsmall Xbox has to submit to player outcry because they are playing catch up. As soon as they get to Sony's current level, the same corporate arrogance will come up. Let's not give some false moral high ground to any company. They are all driven by money. Which is normal in all service industries.
@Martsmall so using your example of farcry 6 then, on my ps5 the price is £59.99, checking the store in Xbox for the series X version, £59.99. next fact?
I've also checked that link, thanks, quickly reading through, not a single mention in the text of gamepass or profitability. I can check out the actual 1 hour long podcast gladly, but I'd want to be shouting from the rooftops that gamepass was profitable...strange how there is nothing about it in the article
@FatallyYours117 another example for even further back is halo 5 ( not a halo fan)
https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2015/11/04/halo-5-guardians-biggest-halo-launch-in-history/amp/
That says it's $59.99 the new halo (Intimate ) and ive just checked in the store $59.99 ( without game pass discount )!
@FatallyYours117 I was backing up facts that games have not gone up in price like YOU said
And from that page I quote
To that end, this is what Game Pass is helping to grow, and as a result, Spencer says Xbox as a business is profitable
Says nothing ?
@Martsmall wait... Are you going off this comment...
"To that end, this is what Game Pass is helping to grow, and as a result, Spencer says Xbox as a business is profitable"
You are reading that as "Spencer says Xbox as a business is profitable" not "gamepass is profitable" ?? Surely. It's in black and white. I'm not distorting that quote. It's there on the page. You understand that right?
Gamepass sells Xbox as a brand like ps now sells Sony
@Martsmall so gamepass as a USP makes gamepass instantly profitable?
That's not how that works
@Martsmall No, what sells Playstation is its currently superior offering of games. The two companies have very different approaches to games as a service. Sony simply cannot take a financial risk on Gamepass like Microsoft can. So they rely on other strategies.
Edit: Also Sony has a more decorated history and is the default platform for most families that have older gamers.
Well this month it's just not for me, but I don't get the bad feedback. The last months were a bit weak? for sure, but this is a good year. I played full extend of:
Maneater
Greedfall
Control
Concrete genie
Remnant: From the ashes
Oddworld: Soulstorm
Plague Tale
And a bit of: Squadrons, wreckfest, and destruction allstars...
For a service that you can get for around 45€ year and with cloud save, I get some good value from it.
But not everyone has the same tastes, I get it. Only making a point that this year is being a good year so far
@CynicalGamer quite so. Sony's approach is traditional to console gaming whereas MS' longterm goal is to reposition themselves as a multi-platform games service where we pay for access to games. I know which future I prefer.
@Integrity Yet on Xbox they pay the same or less and get every game for free.
Your point is null and void!
It's time to stop saying we don't deserve anything because it costs the price of one game. It's a service. Don't pay for it you loose all access to those games.
Would you pay the same for netflix but only get 3 good movies a year to watch? And those 3 you might have seen already or might not be something your into.
Depends how good Hell Let Loose is. If its decent enough then I can forgive the other two poor offerings.
@IREWolfman how can my point be null and void? I expressed a preference to the two strategies and that all I said (actually I didn't express a preference, I left that to your interpretation, effectively all I did was remark on the status quo)
If you prefer a Netflix approach to access to games that's fine. Personally I don't want gaming to be as fractured as other form of media where I need multiple, incremetally expensive subscriptions to get access to the select titles I'm interested in. Ive no time to play hundreds of games so having access to so many isn't attractive to me. So yes potentially I would pay for Netflix if the price were right for 3 films I want to watch rather than for access to hundreds I definetly don't, but the problem is one of those film may be in Amazon, one on Netflix and one on Disney.
But films are not the same as games that last hundreds of hours sp the comparison is flawed. I'd rather OWN those games than rent them whereas I'd be more inclined to rent a 2 hour long film to watch once.
GP may be ridiculously cheap now in its infancy as MS begin their aggressive promotion to drive gamers to it but that won't be the case longterm once its well established.
Null and void? Your opinion doesn't make mine redundant just because you say so.
@IREWolfman that's not how services work. They don't all work to one standard of practice. Not even close. Netflixes service model is not the same as PS now or Gamepass at all, making it invalid as an example
Closer to "meh, okay" since only MKX is topical for me and hails from a series I have lukewarm interest in. But it's not like I haven't got my sub's worth back with titles like Greedfall, Days Gone (despite the likely control issues), Concrete Genie and - should I ever fancy it - FFVIIR already.
@TheRedComet that won't please everyone either. In fact, "AAAs below 3 years old" range sounds almost guaranteed to use the unholy default control scheme in Remote Play, so chances are they would all be barely playable for me.😏
@Otherbarry yes!
One of the worst months in PS+ all time, for me anyway.
A multiplayer only shooter is a hard pass, I'm not 12 years old anymore. Mortal combat has never been fun to me since after the SNES version and finally a golf game, where I don't give a rat's a** about golf
@Otherbarry I worked this out roughly in August, PS Plus is my main source of games, i have actually only purchased 2 games in the last 12 months and have a big Plus backlog.
Plus over the last 9 years has given me around 150 games that i have played, which i worked out to be around £2.40 a game. This doesn't include all the ones i still have that want to play.
I'm a little disappointed with the collection to be honest. However, in my head my years subscription was worth it for Wreckfest alone, as I was all ready to drop the money on it for a PS5 60fps update. Anything else is a bonus.
Hahahahahahaha no
Edit: to be clear, I'm not unhappy with the value of plus. I'm just not at all likely to play any of the games from this month.
Some months games are better than others but sometimes there is s game in there that I'd probably not buy...so its all good
I would usually vote positively if there was a single game I like and if this was any month other than October I would have just selected "meh" even though there's nothing I want. However, the fact we didn't get a single proper horror makes me vote "crap" on this occasion. Happy to voice my distaste and all you who don't like that know what you can do
@nessisonett the beta wasn't fun though I haven't played it since then
pretty mediocre month, already have MKX through Plus Collection, weird choice of games. Hell let lose looks fun but its something I'd have to pour hours into and I dont have that kind of time nowadays
and sports games are always a good choice, as I know that I'd not buy them ever otherwise.
but, especially in contrast with the first half of 2021, the last months have been pretty bad.
Here's hoping that November and December be better
@Jayofmaya idk dude, golf is pretty scary lol
@Integrity stupid take
I already own Mortal Kombat XL and have zero interest in the other two games, so a hard pass for me.
I'm indifferent. That should be a choice on the poll.
@2crudedudes well, what can I say? You've intellectually bested me with that laser-like wit of yours. There is no manner in which I can respond to your stinging barb, 'stupid take' and hope to present a cogent, antithetical stance. I'd be out of my depth to even attempt a retort, I'd be too fretful of what devastatingly erudite rejoinder you'd asservate.
@Integrity Get over yourself Shakespeare
@2crudedudes argh! Such deleterious cuts. I am undone....adroitness receeds...acumen dimished...I yield, aquiescent.
@TheMysticOne oh nice. See thats interesting to me. Hoestly if you are a plus subscriber your getting more in doller value a year then what most people spend a year on games .
@Integrity I too own a thesaurus
I download or put in my library the games every month in case I ever want to play them. But never do. Last one I played was one of the Tomb Raider games. But I'll be downloading and playing PGA Tour asap. I like golf games but can't be arsed to buy one.
@2crudedudes Felicitations! Next step, learning how to use it. For example....instead of, 'stupid take' you could've said, 'ludicrous supposition'. Learning is fun!
The games are ok, however I think that it’s stupid that I’m not able to add the ps5 games to my library for future download. I pay the same for the ps plus monthly games as ps5 owners do. I plan to purchase a PS5 but let’s face it. They still are hard to come by without paying a small fortune. I’ve missed out on multiple great games for that console that I would otherwise have. It’s not our fault that Sony isn’t able to meet production demand!
@jessehill181 You can, through either the mobile app or the website
@Grahamthecracker what I haven't seen mentioned is - in Asia we get Castlevania... But it's not in addition to the other games - we don't get Mortal Kombat. It's a replacement.
@sonofsmallface that is interesting the article on here seemed like it was all 4 games. That being said I’ll take Symphony of the Night alone over MKX.
Removed - inappropriate
I've cancelled it this month. It's not worth it. The last few months have been awful. I miss when they used this space to spotlight indie games.
Going to miss having access to some of the games from previous months...sucks how they remove access to them
@Wh4mmy that's the point of the service. Like Netflix, the subscription doesn't only give you access to one month's offerings, but to the rest of the library for which you had subscribed.
I don't see most people judging Netflix on just one month's additions, but gamers are an angrier bunch.
@naruball I disagree, I think that PS Now is a subscription comparable to a Netflix server. On PS now you have multiple rotating options on demand. They don't take up space in your library unlike the PS plus sub. It's like having the game case but losing the disc imo
I'm more peeved about the decline in quality of game here anyway. I'm just salty that I've lost some games I love, but have already played so unlikely to buy full price.
Nothing against these games, at least there's a good variety.
But I do miss them giving out less mainstream indie titles with PS Plus. That seemed to stop a couple of years ago.
@jessehill181 you can add PS5 games to the library even if you don't own a PS5, I've done it with several, you can do it via the app for example
As a Sony fan, Microsoft is definitely running circles around them but I also find most good games that are part of these subscriptions, of either services, I've already bought and paid for. Makes it kind of a moot point.
I don't have a PS5, not through choice, but this month the golf game is OK I guess. I'm usually getting PS plus for £35 to £40 per year, as they always offer deals just before my subscription runs out if I pay for a full year, so around £3 or so per month for a good selection of games each year is a pretty good deal in my view. Yeah, sometimes they're not great but if I get 5 or 6 decent games a year that's fine with me.
@Tharsman it's purely the multiplayer aspect that keeps me subscribed
Ever get the feeling Sony have given on the PS4 already. Oh well maybe something will turn up in the next few months. I have got loads of games to play anyway so no big deal.
I mean not every month is going to be great but I feel the last few months have been particularly bad.
