Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora has landed on PS5, offering up Ubisoft's open world take on the Avatar franchise. It's pretty much the last high profile release of 2023, and because of that, we're sure that a lot of people will be picking it up for the holidays. Are you one of them, though?
We don't have an Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora review for you just yet — Push Square's resident Avatar fan Aaron is still hard at work — but reviews from around the web are mostly positive on this alien adventure. It's looking like players who don't mind Ubisoft's tried and tested open world formula will find a lot to like, while those looking for something a bit more... involved — for lack of a better word — might be left underwhelmed.
But as always, we want to know if you're playing this latest release. Vote in our polls, and then tell us all about your plans for Pandora in the comments section below.

I'm only a couple of hours in, but I'm really liking it so far.
I heard the main story is only 8 hours and all content can be completed in 18-20 hours. As per this and last gen too much focus on graphics plus had enough of open world stuff
Not a fan of avatar , not seen any of the films
Honestly I was hyped , but then I read couple of the reviews and it seems like ubisoft just can't step away from their Ubisoft game formula, which is a bummer. They really need to start innovating.
I really like the movies. Unless PS’s review convinces me otherwise, this has sale written all over it for me. When the price is right, I’ll happily dive in.
I only just started the game, but so far I'm having fun.
I’ve played up until co-op was unlocked and it seems like a good time so far. The game looks absolutely gorgeous. Really looking forward to playing it co-op with my brother this evening.
Nah, I never really got into anything Avatar related.
Yes I'll be playing it. I understand this isn't for everybody but the bow and arrow mixed with stealth type gameplay set in the lush colourful world of Pandora is appealing to me.
If it's a 100 hours people complain. If it's 20 hours people complain. You really can't win.
I like the movies but don't like ubisoft games so it's a pass from me
I wasn't going to buy any more games for the rest of the year regardless of what came out. At the moment I'm mainly back on GT7 on my PS5 and still need to finish Alan Wake 2.
As for those, I can't say I'm a fan of Ubisoft style open worlds, though the core Far Cry/Crysis gameplay does appeal. I seem to remember enjoying Avatar when I saw it at the cinema, even if I don't remember that much about the story. I might pick this up in a sale at some point
@Splat not necessarily the same people though, I much prefer these 20 hour games over the bloated mess that is AC Valhalla
It will be half off within 2 months! Ubisoft's games drop in price faster than any other publisher so even if it was a 10 I would be in no rush to buy it.
Been playing most of the day and its pretty solid though the gorgeous world is carrying it hard. Its very much Far Cry: Avatar but that's no bad thing.
I’d like to try it, but not buy it. I don’t like the Avatar films, but I’ve listened to some reviews and I’m intrigued by it. It sounds like there’s some unique gameplay concepts to it and I’d like to take the open world a spin, but I’m not interested enough to purchase it.
Maybe at some point in Jan I might dip once the sales start. As we know Ubi games always drop in price after a month or so. But I'm yet to start Resi 4 and probably won't get to it till after Christmas now.
Will Pushsquare review it?
@PixelDragon “ Haven't been at all inclined to see the second movie.”
You aren’t missing anything either. I tried watching it but couldn’t get myself to sit through the whole thing.
I’m hearing about
15 hours main campaign
25 hours main plus sides
Very low poll currently though.
Game looks to much like Far Cry for me to ever care. Game should have been in 3rd person.
Lol, nope, no thank you
Received a key for this game as a gift when I recently bough may Ryzen 7800X3D CPU, part of AMD's campaign and what not.
I've seen from various reviews it's a mixed bag, but hell... it was free (sort of), might as well give it an honest try.
I am and I'm enjoying it.
Got it through ubi + and while I haven't seen avatar in years and not seen the second one I'm. Enjoying the game.
It's like farcry but in a stunning looking world which is fine by me 🤷
It's definitely more Farcry 3 or Primal in playstyle which is to say it poses different sets of challenges than 4,5,6 do. But at heart it's still a Farcry game with big blue cat aliens. I'm a few hours in now and it's been fun so far, some elements are challenging and I dislike the way the enemy can see you way before you can see them. Even in the dark and with fog :/ But other than that everything's been as you'd expect.
Not interested much in it myself (although I do like the movies), but I'm sure I'll see it in action as my brother had it pre-ordered.
If it wasn’t a Ubisoft game I probably would’ve given it a try
Where is the 'it's on my Christmas list' option?
Love the movies and can’t wait to play the game. My copy arrived today - I’ve installed it but I haven’t had a chance to start it yet. I platinumed the PS3 Avatar game three times and from what I’ve seen so far, this game is so much better. Dream come true for us Avatar fans. Wish we were getting an Avatar collab in Fortnite though.
Genuinely didn't even know it was out. This one has really been buried, wouldn't be surprised to see it at half price by the new year
The movie Avatar is basically a remake of “Dances with Wolves” that has been given a fresh coat of (blue) paint. But the world of Pandora sure looks gorgeous. And, saying that, I do enjoy the films.
Will get this game soon, hopefully the special edition will still be available.
I'll buy it when it's down in price a bit it looks pretty good and i usually enjoy Ubisoft games but they drop in price fast.
Yeah, I’ve played about an hour and really like it so far and I feel like I’ll really enjoy the whole game. Pandora looks so awesome already. And Im not tired of the ubi formula and I like the far cry games still but I guess Im in the minority here given the comments 😅
Hard Pass on this at full price
Just another POS shooter wrapped in "Avatar" skins...NTY...hate shooters...
@PixelDragon And i advise you strongly not to. Its a generic snorefest, albeit beautiful to look at. Ironically i sat through it (in 4 sittings) thinking it would have been better as a game rather than a movie, although the reviews for this seem luke warm so perhaps not.
Not the biggest fan, but looks fun and pretty, so I’ll play. Likely this weekend.
I did Ubisoft+... I'll give it a try for $15.
Only played a bit. But liked what I saw. I am a FarCry fan, so this is made for me.
Also excited to try out FSR3 and Frame Generation. Basically the future of PC handhelds.
I’m a couple of hours in and whilst it looks like the movie, I just can’t get away with the game. The map won’t zoom in far enough to determine your goals, the controls are overly complicated (especially jumping while running) and the RDA soldiers guns miraculously disappear once killed so you can’t get a gun early on in the game. Overall 6/10 game which will likely go to CEX tomorrow and take the £16 loss on the purchase price now rather than plod on and lose more. Come on Ubisoft, you can do better than this 😢
@Dragon83 If its really only 8 hours that is unfortunate for the cost of it. Glad its on ubi+.
