Cyberpunk 2077's first (and last) expansion is out now on PS5. Phantom Liberty adds a whole new storyline and district to CD Projekt Red's open world RPG, and the initial reception has been incredibly positive. Of course, it helps that the base game has been significantly improved with Update 2.0 — which dropped just five days ago at the time of writing.
"Phantom Liberty is often Cyberpunk 2077 at its very best," we concluded in our Phantom Liberty PS5 review. "A gripping narrative complete with great characters adds another dimension to the open world RPG, while the main mission and side quest design remains top notch throughout. It's a tremendous expansion that delivers a truly memorable experience." If you couldn't already tell, we loved it, awarding it a final score of 9/10.

I am! I started it this morning before work. I did the first two main missions and thought it was awesome. I’m excited to dive back into the game later tonight.
Completed cyberpunk 2077 like 5 times . 3 on ps4 for all character routes and twice on ps5 update but never bothered with all the missions/police scanner stuff. I've been playing it on pc for the last month, just completed all missions apart from police scanner so probably take another weekend to finish that.so love everything to do with cyberpunk and then onto dlc 😀
I want to. Buttttttt, I’m waiting for the inevitable “Complete Edition” with hopefully a revamped trophy list or at minimum a new one to fill so I can start a new save from fresh
Nah, played through it at launch and was underwhelmed with it. Not the bugs, the narrative. Phantom Liberty sounds like an improvement, but I don’t want to start over on a new platform (played it on Stadia) to get to it.
When I get Jedi Survivor and a recently purchased RE4 finished I will consider picking this up.
But with Alan Wake 2 and Super Mario RPG on the horizon, it may have to wait until December during a lull period before I get around to playing.
Do you need Cyberpunk to play Phantom Liberty?
I'd like to get my hands on the game on PC and give it a go. Likely just sell my PS4 copy from launch.
Been playing all day and its excellent.
Just started the base game yesterday, finding it mostly frustrating so far. Had to lookup how to get past the security hack in the shop then how to scan the data pad. That whole brain dance thing is a time wasting fiasco. 😝 I also hate driving, really wish there were self driving cars in the future so I could just tell it where I want to go. I think FFXV had that. I’m only playing it b/c the anime was great and I want to check out Keanu but this certainly isn’t making me like first person view. Destiny 2 was buttery smooth compared to this.🤷🏻♂️
I've played about 3 hours of the dlc and so far it's superb. I have previously beaten the game and now I'm using my high level V to play with the new perks. I'm currently running a blades build and it's great fun taking down groups with just a sword, blocking bullets and air dashing about.
The update and dlc have cemented Cyberpunk as my favourite open world game and it looks stunning too
"No, Cyberpunk 2077 just isn't for me"
Translation:
They released it as an unfinished buggy mess. They missed their chance to win me over at launch and they failed spectacularly.
I finished Cyberpunk when it first came out. It was ok. But I have no real desire to return to Night City or that world.
I said no not yet because I am playing from the beginning and have yet to get to Phantom Liberty portion of the game.
Waiting for a disc version
Heck yeah I'm jumping in. Can't wait to play tonight! Honestly tied with AC Mirage as my most anticipated release of the Fall.
I'm really enjoying it and it feels so much better than it did back in those first weeks.
Although as I haven’t played it in so long, and they’ve reset the perks and cyberware, I have no idea what any of them are so I’m just ignoring them all completely.
Beat the og that’ll be enough for me too much else to play
Someday… too busy with the amazing Armored Core 🔥x6 and Lies of P
Started a fresh play through per the devs recommendation and I am looooving ittttt. Corpo this time!
@Ultimapunch EXACTLY
I did about an hour of the demo last November but decided to wait until it was completed to actually start it.. 11 hours in so far and I’m having a blast now that I’m starting to understand more of the complex systems and playstyles.. almost put it down again 4 hours into it because it was so overwhelming.. glad i stuck in there tho.. look forward to my next 100+ hours THEN the DLC.. can’t play again til the weekend though, stupid job and family!!! J-K!! I’m hyped tho
Glad to see this superb game getting the love it deserves.
Just started the base game yesterday for PS5. So far blown away with the graphics, although with HDR enabled even more. Will probably get Phantom Liberty in due time.
I played Cyberpunk pretty early on and thought it was fine. I am intrigued to give it a go again, now that it's had a complete overhaul. Still working through BG3 though, which is impeccable!
I have dusted off my PC save and jumped back in. Managed to get it running nicely on the ROG Ally and my PC. have respecced my character. Probably wrongly.
Nope because there's a bug in the bundle I bought which inhibits me from downloading the ps5 version.
Not my type of games, especially when it's a 3rd person shooter. But if I'm gonna try any 3rd person shooter out, this will be it.
@Ultimapunch and with a game this vast, I'm likely ever only going to play it once, and this is what, the third time I've heard "oh now it's been updated, it's definitely worth getting"? How many times can a game be considered "ready" until you're expected to take the plunge and invest dozens of hours into it?
cant wait to try it! especially with all the updates and changes to the core game.
not sure when. im kinda broke, but a dlc is much cheaper than a new game so who knows.
Yeah... loving it. They built such an amazing world. I'll come back as many times as they expand it.
@Luigia
"Do you need Cyberpunk to play Phantom Liberty?"
Yes, you do....
Started Cyberpunk the other day after 2.0 dropped. Im enjoying it after about 6 hours but its a pretty busy game. With lots of messages and calls coming in so i dont really know where to go next. Im finding it a little confusing. Man im getting old 😣
@Svark many thanks 👍🏻
